Newark Broad Street station

State Street Public School, is located in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The building was built in 1845 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 3, 1990. It is now the Audio-Video Division of the Newark Public Schools.

House of Prayer Episcopal Church and Rectory is a historic site at Broad and State Streets in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The house was built in prior to 1725 (c. 1710) and the church in 1849 and they were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.The rectory was the home of Hannibal Goodwin, priest and inventor. Known as the Plume House, the building is considered one of the most endangered landmarks in the state. The parish was founded in 1849 and held its first services in the rectory on November 7. A few days later, construction began on the Gothic Revival church building, designed by Frank Wills, which was consecrated a year later. A parish hall was added in several phases later in the 19th century.

Club Zanzibar was a dance club that opened in 1979 at 430 Broad Street in Newark, New Jersey. Its presence in Downtown Newark was noted for its influence on house music and garage house genres and scene. Club Zanzibar, along with other gay and straight clubs in the era, was both a straight and LGBT black and Latino nightlife destination.

Wars of America is a colossal bronze sculpture by Mount Rushmore sculptor Gutzon Borglum and his assistant Luigi Del Bianco containing "forty-two humans and two horses", located in Military Park in Newark, New Jersey. The sculpture sets on a base of granite from Stone Mountain. The sculpture was erected in 1926, eight years after World War I ended, but its intent was broadened to honor all of America's war dead. In describing it, Borglum said "The design represents a great spearhead. Upon the green field of this spearhead we have placed a Tudor sword, the hilt of which represents the American nation at a crisis, answering the call to arms."The work was funded by a $100,000 bequest by Newark businessman Amos Hoagland Van Horn, who also funded Borglums Seated Lincoln, also located in Newark. The sculpture was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 28, 1994.

One Washington Park is a high rise office building located on Harriet Tubman Square at 1 Washington Street in Newark, New Jersey. Among the tallest buildings in the city, it is best known as the home of Rutgers Business School, Amazon's Audible.com, and Newark Venture Partners.

Rutgers School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) is the public administration school of Rutgers University, and is located on the Rutgers-Newark campus. Rutgers SPAA offers bachelor's, Master of Public Administration (MPA), and Ph.D. degrees as well as graduate and non-credit certificates focused on particular issues of public and nonprofit management and policy implementation. The State of New Jersey's Certified Public Manager program is housed at SPAA.

The American Insurance Company Building is one of the oldest and tallest skyscrapers in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. Located at 15 Washington Street on Washington Park it was once headquarters for the American Insurance Company and is now part of Rutgers University. The neo-classical tower is a contributing property to the James Street Commons Historic District which also encompasses Washington Park, Newark Museum, and Newark Public Library. It re-opened in November 2015 as student dorms, event space, and chancellor's apartment.

The library system boasts a collection of art and literature, art and history exhibits, a variety of programs for all ages. The library is home to author Philip Roth's collections.

Riverfront Stadium is a light rail station in the Washington Park section of Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The station is a single low-level platform for trains used by the Newark Light Rail branch to Newark Broad Street station. Riverfront Stadium station is a northbound-only stop, located across Broad Street from the terminus. The station opened on July 17, 2006 when an extension from Newark Penn Station opened to Broad Street station. Riverfront Stadium station attained its name from the Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium, an independent baseball league ballpark. The station was located next to the entrance to Gate C, however, the stadium closed in 2013 and the city razed the stadium in 2019.

Indian and the Puritan is a 1916 marble and bronze monument by Gutzon Borglum, the sculptor of Mount Rushmore, opposite 5 Washington Street, the Newark Public Library, in Washington Park of Newark in Essex County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 28, 1994, as part of the Public Sculpture in Newark, New Jersey Multiple Property Submission.

Saint Michael's Medical Center is a 358-bed hospital located at 111 Central Avenue in Newark, New Jersey. It was opened on May 13, 1867, by four members of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor as Hospital of the Sisters of the Poor of St. Francis. The four nuns, Sr. Monica Voss (superior), Sr. Fortulana Menzen, Sr. Ewalda Mittler, and Sr. Masssea Keenan, and a postulant, Bridget McDonald, had been previously serving St. Mary's Hospital in Hoboken, NJ. It was incorporated as St. Michael's Hospital by the State of New Jersey on March 9, 1871. Under its charter, the Catholic Bishop of Newark was head of the Board of Directors, but in practice it continued to be managed by the Sisters. One of the three earliest voluntary hospitals in New Jersey, it was initially supported through public donations, but by 1875 it received some support from the diocese and the city.

Harriet Tubman Square station is a light rail station on the Newark Light Rail's Broad Street Extension. It is located in Downtown Newark, New Jersey, on the southbound side of Broad Street between Bridge and Lombardy Streets adjacent to the park that lends its name to the station. It is directly across from the headquarters of IDT Corporation and 1 Washington Park and during the afternoon rush hour carries many outgoing commuters from these buildings to Newark Penn Station. Two key attractions near this station are the Newark Museum and Newark Public Library. The station is also located near the James Street Commons Historic neighborhood, Rutgers Business School and the Polhemus house. The station is above ground, as is most of the second NLR line, except for a two-track tunnel having a portal to the south of Center Street that connects the line to the original NCS line at Newark Penn Station. This station receives only southbound trains, which leave Newark Broad Street station and continue on to NJPAC/Center Street and Newark Penn Station. Service on this line opened on July 17, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. EDT.The station also features two installations of public art by Willie Cole, a native Newarker and African American conceptual and visual artist.
