Cruises Street (Irish: Sráid an Chrúisigh; also spelled Cruise's) is a main shopping street of Limerick, Ireland. The street takes its name from Cruises Royal Hotel, the once well known Limerick landmark that stood where Cruises Street is now. Cruise's Hotel opened in 1791 and for over 200 years provided a focal point and an entertainment venue for Limerick people and visitors to the city for generations. The hotel was very well known throughout the country which fronted onto O'Connell Street. Daniel O'Connell, the famous Irish political leader in the 19th Century stayed at the hotel. It also had a presidential suite as Presidents and dignitaries who visited Limerick, regularly stayed there. The Hotel was demolished in 1991 to make way for the new pedestrianised street which opened in late 1992. The street is relatively plain in layout and starts at a junction off O'Connell Street and runs in parallel to Denmark Street to its north and William Street which is to its south. At the centre of the street is a small square called Quimper Square. The street terminates at Chapel Lane which runs perpendicular to the street and connects to Denmark Street and William Street. A small laneway (Todd's Bow) also connects to William Street and Denmark Street from Quimper Square. In recent years due to the economic downturn and the increase in shopping facilities in suburban areas of Limerick has resulted in a number of shop closures and a sharp reduction of footfall has occurred on the street which has caused some concern. Although most retail units remain filled, a sizeable number of units on the street remain unoccupied. William Street (Irish: Sráid Liam) is one of the main thoroughfares of central Limerick City, Ireland. The street starts at a junction with O'Connell Street (Limerick's main thoroughfare) and continues in a south-east direction, where it is called Upper William Street. The street is named after William Pery, 1st Baron Glentworth a relation of Edmund Sexton Pery who is credited with the development of the present day Limerick City Centre area known as Newtown Pery.

Patrick Street (Irish: Sráid Phádraig) is a street in central Limerick, Ireland. The street forms part of the main central thoroughfare of the city which incorporates Patrick Street, Rutland Street and O'Connell Street. The street is named after Patrick "Patt" Arthur (1717–1799), a member of the prominent Arthur family at the time. The streets of Francis Street, Ellen Street and Arthur's Quay are also named after the Arthur family. The street was renovated in the early 1990s during the construction of Arthur's Quay Shopping Centre which forms the west side of the street. The shopping centre is mainly inward facing, which does not add much to footfall on the street. The east side of the street was part of the planned Opera Centre development. As a result, much of this section of the street lay derelict with no business activity for some time.The Victorian-era soprano, Catherine Hayes, was born at 4 Patrick Street in 1818.

The Fresh International Film Festival (Irish: Féile Úr Scannán) is a festival for young people which takes place in Limerick, Ireland each Spring. Founded in 1997, the event was originally known as the "Irish Schools Video Competition". The annual festival includes its competitive event, Ireland's Young Filmmaker of the Year, which screens films made by young people aged between 7 and 18 years.

Limerick ( LIM-ər-ik; Irish: Luimneach [ˈl̪ˠɪmʲ(ə)nʲəx]) is a western city in Ireland situated within County Limerick. It is in the province of Munster and is located in the Mid-West which comprises part of the Southern Region. With a population of 94,192 at the 2016 census, Limerick is the third-most populous urban area in the state, and the fourth-most populous city on the island of Ireland at the 2011 census. The city lies on the River Shannon, with the historic core of the city located on King's Island, which is bounded by the Shannon and Abbey Rivers. Limerick is also located at the head of the Shannon Estuary, where the river widens before it flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Limerick City and County Council is the local authority for the city.

Limerick, a city in western Ireland, was besieged twice in the Williamite War in Ireland in 1689–1691. On the first occasion, in August to September 1690, its Jacobite defenders retreated to the city after their defeat at the Battle of the Boyne. The Williamites, under William III, tried to take Limerick by storm but were driven off and had to retire into their winter quarters.

The siege of Limerick in western Ireland was a second siege of the town during the Williamite War in Ireland (1689–1691). The city, held by Jacobite forces, was able to beat off a Williamite assault in 1690. However, after a second siege in August–October 1691, it surrendered on favourable terms.

Limerick Racecourse (Greenmount Park) is a horse racing venue in Limerick, Ireland, which stages both National Hunt and flat racing. The course opened in October 2001 and is the first purpose-built racecourse in Ireland in 50 years. The present location is the seventh different horse racing location in Limerick since 1790. In 1999, the course at Greenpark near Limerick city closed after 130 years of racing.The course is a right-handed oval track of about 11 furlongs (7,260 ft; 2,210 m). It is located on the M20 at exit 4, 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) outside the city.

The Milk Market (Irish: Margadh an Bhainne) is a food market located on Mungret Street, Limerick, Ireland. Despite the name, the market has diversified over the years from its initial purpose and now sells a wide variety of foodstuffs, much of which is produced locally. The market is one of the oldest in Ireland. The flagship market day is the Saturday food market, however, markets are also held on Fridays and Sundays.

Sarsfield Street is a street in Limerick, Ireland. The street commences at Sarsfield Bridge (which crosses the River Shannon) and continues in a south east direction forming a crossroads junction with Liddy Street (to the north) and Henry Street (to the south). The street continues towards its junction with O'Connell Street where it ends. Sarsfield Street along with William Street forms an overall thoroughfare that bisects Limerick City Centre from west to east. O'Connell Street in turn bisects the city centre from north to south. The street prior to the construction of the Limerick Southern Ring Road and the Shannon Bridge was the start of the main N18 road between Limerick (and the south & south east) and Galway. The street was originally known as Brunswick Street until the early 20th century. It was renamed after Patrick Sarsfield the first Earl of Lucan and who was the Irish Jacobite leader in the Siege of Limerick (1690). Sarsfield arranged the subsequent Treaty of Limerick.In the early 21st century, Sarsfield Street has seen a number of shop closures. Dunnes Stores, which had a large shopping complex on the street, closed it in 2008 and moved to nearby Henry Street.
