Woodland, Delaware

The Woodland Ferry, historically known as Cannon's Ferry, is a cable ferry located in western Sussex County, Delaware, United States, spanning the Nanticoke River at Woodland, Delaware, west of the city of Seaford. The ferry is operated year-round by the Delaware Department of Transportation. It is closed on national holidays of Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's Day, and also as required by weather.

Nanticoke Wildlife Area is a state wildlife area located in Sussex County, Delaware, along the Nanticoke River and Broad Creek, near to Seaford, Delaware, and Bethel, Delaware. There is a monument commemorating Captain John Smith's journey into the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries at Phillips Landing along Broad Creek, a tributary of the Nanticoke River in Delaware. It is made up of three large land tracts totaling 4,510 acres (1,825 ha), it is managed by Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), Division of Fish and Wildlife. The area also holds one of the few Delmarva fox squirrel populations within Delaware, along with controlled populations in Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge and Assawoman Wildlife Area.

Chapel Branch is a 6.4 mi (10.3 km) long tributary to Lewes Creek in Sussex County, Delaware. Lewes Creek then flows into the Nanticoke River.

Bethel Historic District, also known as Lewisville and Lewis' Wharf, is a national historic district located at Bethel, Sussex County, Delaware. The district includes four contributing buildings. They are representative of dwellings built by the village's skilled ship carpenters. They are the two Ship-Carpenter Houses, the Moore House, and 4 R's Farm house. The two Ship-Carpenter Houses were built before 1868, and each consists of a low, 1+1⁄2-story section with an adjoining rear wing and a taller 1+1⁄2-story addition. The Moore House is a 1+1⁄2-story dwelling with a 2+1⁄2-story addition and kitchen wing. It features a Victorian cross-gable roof adorned with gingerbread trim. The "4 R's Farm" house is a square, two-story, three bay dwelling in the Italianate style. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Wright Creek is a 5.25 mi (8.45 km) long tributary to the Nanticoke River that rises in western Sussex County, Delaware. The creek straddles the Delaware state line for most of its course and is tidal for about half of its length.

Tussocky Branch is a 7.54 mi (12.13 km) long 2nd order tributary to Broad Creek in Sussex County, Delaware.

Portsville is an unincorporated community in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. Portsville is located on the southern bank of Broad Creek, 0.8 miles (1.3 km) southwest of Bethel. The Portsville Lighthouse, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located in Portsville. There is an 8.6 acre pond nearby called Tussock Pond.

The Portsville Lighthouse was a historic house in Portsville, Sussex County, Delaware, situated along Broad Creek. The house was a folly, not a functional lighthouse, and was the oldest folly in Delaware. The house was built in 1932 by New York Supreme Court justice Edward R. Koch, who built the lighthouse on an existing home, store and shirt factory, the latter two moved from other parts of the village. Standing six stories tall, the lighthouse tower was one of the tallest buildings in inland Sussex County. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 8, 1987. The tower was torn down in the mid-1990s due to deterioration, and the house was destroyed by fire in February 2010 and dismantled the following July. The site is maintained by the state of Delaware as a fishing access area.

Bethel is a town in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. According to 2020 Census Bureau figures, the population of the town is 239.

Turkey Branch is a 0.9 mi (1.4 km) long 1st order tributary to Tussocky Branch in Sussex County, Delaware.

Nanticoke City was an unincorporated community in western Sussex County, Delaware, United States that existed from 1856 until 1910. The community was laid out by Rev. Thomas B. Bradford, consisting of 100 lots built around the newly opened rail depot of the Delaware Railroad just west of the then town limits of Seaford. Additional lots were added, bringing the community to 179 properties. On October 8, 1907, a storm of reported "near hurricane strength" struck the community, causing injuries and destroying homes. In 1910, the community was formally annexed into the municipal limits of Seaford and is that part of the city west of the railroad tracks, south of Poplar Street, east of Shipley Street, and extending southward to the Nanticoke River and Nanticoke Avenue.
