Højbro

Gammel Strand station (Danish pronunciation: [ˈkɑml̩ ˈstʁɑnˀ], lit. Old Beach) is a Copenhagen Metro station located at Gammel Strand in the Old Town of Copenhagen, Denmark. The station is on the City Circle Line (M3 and M4), between Kongens Nytorv and Rådhuspladsen, and is in fare zone 1. The station provides access to the central section of Strøget, Slotsholmen, Christiansborg Palace and Højbro Plads.

Agnete and the Merman is a group of bronze sculptures in Copenhagen, Denmark, located underwater in the Slotsholm Canal next to the Højbro Bridge. It has been referred to as one of the least-known works of art in Copenhagen. The sculptures were made in 1992 by the Danish sculptor, photographer, and author, Suste Bonnen. They portray a merman and his seven sons with outstretched arms, begging Agnete to return home. Three other sculptures of merfolk are located in Copenhagen: the "Black Diamond Mermaid", a copy of Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen’s 1921 statue; a large (15-foot) granite mermaid located on the port-of-call cruise ship dock in Copenhagen; and the famous Little Mermaid statue, located on the water’s edge along Langelinie promenade.

The equestrian statue of Absalon on Højbro Plads in Copenhagen was unveiled in 1902 to mark the 700 years' anniversary of the death of Bishop Absalon, the city's legendary founder.

Copenhagen Castle (Danish: Københavns Slot) was a castle on the islet of Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen, Denmark. It was built in the late 14th century and was located at the site of the current Christiansborg Palace.

Fishwife (Danish: Fiskerkone) is a 1940 granite statue of a fishwife situated at Gammel Strand in Copenhagen, Denmark, commemorating the fact that the city's principal fish market was then located at the site. It represents one of the so-called Skovser Women who, wearing their traditional garments, used to dominate the market trade. The fish market closed in 1958.

The Grandjean House (Danish: Grandjeans Gård) is a Late Neoclassical property consisting of two separate buildings, one at Bredgade 4 and one at Store Strandstræde 3, on opposite side of a central courtyard, in central Copenhagen, Denmark. The property is separated from Kongens Nytorv by a small building that now houses Copenhagen Amber Museum. It was built in 1854 by the architect Christian Tybjerg for pastry chef Christian Bredo Grandjean. It replaced an older building, which was known as the Collin House after Hans Christian Andersen patron Jonas Collin, but this name is now associated with another building in Amaliegade. The Grandjean House was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1959.

Ploug House (Danish: Plougs Gård) is a listed Neoclassical property on the corner of Højbro Plads and Ved Stranden in central Copenhagen, Denmark. It dates from the building boom which followed after the Copenhagen Fire of 1795 but takes its name from the poet, publisher and politician Carl Ploug who lived there in the 1860s and 1870s and also published the newspaper Fædrelandet from the premises.

The Collin House (Danish: Den Collinske Gård) is a listed Neoclassical property at Amaliegade No. 9 in the Frederiksstaden district of central Copenhagen, Denmark. It takes its name after Jonas Collin, a prominent civil servant and leading patrons of the arts during the Danish Golden Age, who owned the building from 1838 to 1861. He was a close friend and loyal supporter of Hans Christian Andersen who often visited the house.

Højbro Plads 17 is a Neoclassical property situated on the east side of Højbro Plads in central Copenhagen, Denmark. The building was like most of the other buildings in the area constructed as part of the rebuilding of the city following the Copenhagen Fire of 1795. It was listed in the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1924.

Højbro Plads (literally "High Bridge Square") is a rectangular public square located between the adjoining Amagertorv and Slotsholmen Canal in the City Centre of Copenhagen, Denmark. It takes its name from the Højbro Bridge which connects it to the Slotsholmen island on the other side of the canal while Gammel Strand extends along the near side of the canal. The most striking feature of the square is an equestrian statue of Absalon, the warrior-bishop who has traditionally been credited as the founder of Copenhagen. It was inaugurated in 1901 to commemorate the septcentennial of his death.

Højbro Plads 15 is a Neoclassical property situated on Højbro Plads in central Copenhagen, Denmark. The building was like most of the other buildings in the area constructed as part of the rebuilding of the city following the Copenhagen Fire of 1795. It was listed in the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1950.
