Tracton (Irish: Trácht Fhionn) is a civil parish in southeast County Cork in Ireland. Lying roughly 7 kilometres south of Carrigaline, it lies within the Dáil constituency of Cork South-Central. The area is named after Tracton Abbey, a Cistercian monastery that was in the area in medieval times.Tracton GAA club, based close to the village of Minane Bridge, won the Cork Intermediate Hurling Championship in 1991.Irish Republican Diarmuid Lynch was born in Tracton.

Ballygarvan (Irish: Baile Garbháin) is a village in County Cork, Ireland. It lies 9km south of Cork City. The village had a population of 556 inhabitants as of the 2016 census. Occupying the eastern half of Ballinhassig parish, the village lies in the valley between Myrtle Hill and Meadstown Hill, beside the River Owenabue. The village is just off the Cork-Kinsale road with Cork City 9 km to the north. Cork Airport is located 2 km away in the Farmers Cross area.Facilities in Ballygarvan include a church, a primary school, a public house, a hairdresser, and a creche. The village has a GAA club and playing pitch.Ballygarvan GAA club won the Cork Junior Hurling Championship in 2004 and 2014. In 1921 the village school was burned down by British forces following an IRA ambush in nearby Ballinhassig.Notable local residents have included GAA patron Liam MacCarthy (after whom the Liam MacCarthy Cup is named), Cork footballer Ger Spillane, hurler Stephen White and camogie player Emer Dillon.

Summer Cove is part of Kinsale town on the Kinsale harbour, on the south coast of Ireland; it faces westwards across the entrance of the harbour to the Castlepark peninsula. Charles's Fort is located on the southern edge Summercove, at the water's edge. The Bulman pub, located at the centre of Summercove, is one of Ireland's best-known bars, having won Black and White Pub of the Year in 2002 and 2004. It is one of Kinsale's most affluent areas and attracts many tourists for its high-quality views of Kinsale town and surrounding lands.

Charles Fort (Irish: Dún Chathail) is a trace italienne fortification, a bastion fort with one section of the outer wall built in star fashion. It is located at the southern end of the village of Summer Cove, on Kinsale harbour, County Cork, Ireland. First completed in 1682, Charles Fort was sometimes historically referred to as the "new fort" - to contrast with James' Fort (the "old fort") which had been built on the other side of Kinsale harbour before 1607. The fort is now operated as a heritage tourism site by the Heritage Ireland arm of the Office of Public Works.

Carrigaline (Irish: Carraig Uí Leighin, meaning 'rock of Ó Leighin') is a town and civil parish in County Cork, Ireland, situated on the River Owenabue. Located about 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) south of Cork city centre, and with a population of 18,239 people, it is one of the largest commuter towns in the county. The R611 regional road passes through the town, and it is just off the N28 national primary route to Ringaskiddy. Carrigaline grew rapidly in the late 20th century, from a village of a few hundred people into a thriving commuter town although some locals still refer to it as "the village". The town is one of the key gateways to west Cork, especially for those who arrive by ferry from France. Carrigaline is within the Cork South-Central Dáil constituency.

James Fort (Irish: Dún Rí Shéamuis) is an early 17th-century pentagonal bastion fort located on Castlepark peninsula in Kinsale harbour, County Cork, Ireland. Situated downstream from Kinsale on the River Bandon, the fort was built to defend the harbour and seaborne approaches of the town. Following the construction of Charles Fort on the opposite side of the harbour in the late 17th century, James Fort became known as the "old fort" (Irish: an Seandaingean). Listed as a protected National Monument, and managed by the Office of Public Works, the fort is open to visitors.

The siege of Kinsale (Irish: Léigear Chionn tSáile), also known as the battle of Kinsale, was the ultimate battle in England's conquest of Gaelic Ireland, commencing in October 1601, near the end of the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, and at the climax of the Nine Years' War—a campaign by Hugh O'Neill, Hugh Roe O'Donnell and other Irish lords against English rule. Owing to Spanish involvement and the strategic advantages to be gained, the battle also formed part of the Anglo-Spanish War, the wider conflict of Protestant England against Catholic Spain.

Carrigaline railway station was on the Cork, Blackrock and Passage Railway in County Cork, Ireland. It served the town of Carrigaline. As at 2023 the station building still exists, being used as a veterinary hospital.
