Halsnæs Kommune is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Region Hovedstaden ("Capital Region"). The municipality covers a total area (land and water) of 122.15 km² (2013), according to Municipal Key Figures (De Kommunale Nøgletal (www.noegletal.dk)), and has a total population of 31,466 (1. January 2023). The municipality also includes the island Hesselø. Up to 20 km2 of the total area is water, as part of the largest lake in Denmark, Arresø, lies within the municipality. Its name comes from Halsnæs, the peninsula that forms the western part of the municipality. The municipality was created on 1 January 2007 as a merger of the former municipalities of Frederiksværk and Hundested. At first the merged municipality wore the hyphenated name Frederiksværk-Hundested, but it was changed to Halsnæs on 1 January 2008. Its mayor, as of 1 January 2018, is Steffen Jensen, a member of the Social Democrats political party.

Melbylejren is a former military installation and training ground situated at Liseleje in Halsnæs Municipality, North Zealand, some 60 km north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was established in 1886 and decommissioned in 2003 and the buildings are now used as a venue for events and recreational activities.

Liseleje is a former fishing village and popular tourist resort in Halsnæs Municipality, North Zealand, some 60 kilometres northwest of Copenhagen, Denmark. The original village is surrounded by extensive areas of summerhouses. It has merged with neighbouring Asserbo, forming an urban area with a combined population of 2,493 (1 January 2023).

Arresødal is a manor estate situated in Frederiksværk, in Halsnæs Municipality on the island of Zealand in Region Hovedstaden, northeastern Denmark. Surrounded by forest to the west of lake Arresø, it now functions as a private hospice.

Frederiksværk Parish (Danish: Frederiksværk Sogn) was a parish in the Diocese of Helsingør in Halsnæs Municipality, Denmark. The town of Frederiksværk was in the parish. The parish was merged with Vinderød Parish on 1 July 2014 to form Frederiksværk-Vinderød Parish.

Frederiksværk station is a railway station serving the town of Frederiksværk in North Zealand, Denmark.Frederiksværk station is located on the Frederiksværk Line from Hillerød to Hundested. The station was opened in 1897 with the opening of the Hillerød-Frederiksværk section of the Frederiksværk Line. The train services are operated by the railway company Lokaltog which runs frequent local train services between Hundested station and Hillerød station.

Melby Parish (Danish: Melby Sogn) is a parish in the Diocese of Helsingør in Halsnæs Municipality, Denmark. The parish contains the towns of Liseleje and Melby.

Frederiksværk is a town with a population of 12,815 (1 January 2023) in Halsnæs Municipality on Zealand in Region Hovedstaden in Denmark.

Melby is a village located on the Halsnæs peninsula, midway between Frederiksværk and Hundested, Halsnæs Municipality, North Zealand, some 60 km north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It most notable landmarks are its church, its windmill and a former military camp. Melby Station is served by the Hundested Line between Hillerød and Hundested. As of 1 January 2023, the population was 764.The name Melby is also associated with Melbylejren, a former military installation which is now located in Liseleje-Asserbo, as well as Melby Overdrev, an area of protected heatherlands separating Liseleje and Asserbo Plantations to the east of Liseleje.

Melby Windmill (Danish. Melby Mølle) is a smock mill located at Melby, Halsnæs Municipality, North Zealand, some 60 kilometres (37 mi) north west of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Hørsholm Windmill (Danish. Hørsholm Mølle) is a smock mill located in Hørsholm to the north of Copenhagen, Denmark. The site also comprises two storage buildings. The complex is now home to a small museum of old crafts.

Asserbo Charterhouse is a fortress and Carthusian monastery ruin in the small town of Asserbo north of Frederiksværk on North Zealand in Denmark. The monastery was founded by Bishop Absalon in the later part of the 12th century and functioned as a short-lived Carthusian monastery. It later came under Sorø Abbey and parts of it under Esrum Abbey and remained so until the end of the middle ages. In that period the buildings were used as a farmhouse or small manor and administered as a so-called Grangier (farmhouse and nearby buildings) by the monks of Sorø Abbey. Originally it comprised a main building, a tower with a cellar, various cellars and some half-timbered houses. The buildings were founded on a structure of large bricks, known as monk bricks. The site was surrounded by an embankment and access was only possible by a drawbridge from the north side. In 1248 we know from written sources, that Asserbo Chartehouse had developed into a small village, the village now known as Asserbo. From the 15th century Asserbo charterhouse was leased to various noble families, until Steward of the Realm Poul Laxmand took ownership in 1490. From then on, the ownership shifted between The Crown and various noble families until the start of the 18th century, when it was left to the devastating drifting sands of the time. The drifting sands and dunes were eventually stopped in the 1730s and covered by the plantation of Tisvilde Hegn (English: Tisvilde Fence). The charterhouse was dug free in 1849 and the embankments were restored in 1972.
