Mayfair is a neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia, centered on the intersection of Cottman and Frankford Avenues. It is bordered by Tacony and Wissinoming to the south and east, Holmesburg to the east, Pennypack Park to the north, and Oxford Circle and Rhawnhurst to the west. Mayfair is historically home to a large Irish American population, but more recently has seen accelerated growth of Asian American population The street borders are the north side of Harbison Avenue to the south. The eastern border is the west side of Frankford Avenue. The east side of Roosevelt Boulevard is the border to the west. It also Borders the west side of Frankford Avenue, from Harbison Avenue up to Cottman Avenue but both sides of Frankford Avenue from Cottman Avenue to Sheffield Avenue. It borders on the west side of Rhawn street at the intersection of Frankford and Rhawn, and winds around up to Holme Avenue and Holmes Circle. Mayfair borders the Holmesburg neighborhood to the north and east, but the borders between that neighborhood are not clearly defined and often disputed, as are the borders with other surrounding neighborhoods.

St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls is a private, independent Roman Catholic preparatory school for girls located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With over 650 students, it is the largest all-girls school in Philadelphia. The school is named after St. Hubert(Hubertus), the patron saint of hunters. Tacony (Delaware: tèkhane) is a historic neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia, about 8 miles (13 km) from downtown ("Center City") Philadelphia. It is bounded by the east side of Frankford Avenue on the northwest, the south side of Cottman Avenue on the northeast, the north side of Robbins Street on the southwest, and the Delaware River and Interstate 95 on the southeast. Tacony's ZIP code, along with Wissinoming, is 19135. The neighborhood has a large Irish American and Italian American population. A substantial influx of German and German-American inhabitants helped to swell the population after 1855. About 18,000 people now live in Tacony.Although numerous neighborhood borders in Philadelphia are often disputed, because of when and how they developed, were populated, and founded, Tacony is one of the earliest villages along the Delaware River and further inland, in what was at one time a section of "Oxford Township," and would eventually become part of Philadelphia. Greater Kensington is a string band in Philadelphia's annual Mummers Parade. The Greater Kensington String Band was organized in 1946 and first marched in the New Year's Day Mummers Parade in 1948. The band, known as "GKSB", has taken first prize on three occasions and has finished in the top ten forty one times including seventeen years in the top five.GKSB started in 1946 on Front Street below Lehigh Avenue and moved to a location atop the Cumberland Sho-bar at Kensington Avenue and "A" Street beneath the Market–Frankford Line. In 1960 the band relocated and established its headquarters at 2844 "D" Street. The band is a charter member of the Philadelphia Mummers String Band Association and, as such, can never change its name. So when the band moved in 1966 to Tacony, it still carried the name of Greater Kensington String Band.The band owns its headquarters on Edmund Street in Northeast Philadelphia. The band has joined with the Mayfair Optimist Club and the Mayfair-Holmesburg Merchants Association to sponsor and help organize the Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade on Frankford Avenue since 1974. In 1975 the band acquired a catering club license making the hall available for rentals.While New Year's Day is the band's big event of the year, the group has performed nationally, with past performances in Tennessee, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, the New England states, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and throughout Pennsylvania. They have also performed at the Quebec Winter Carnival, the Carnival de Libertad in Cuba, Oktoberfest in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, the P. T. Barnum Festival in Connecticut and the Nebraska State Fair. They performed at the 1984 inauguration of Mayor Wilson Goode at the Academy of Music and as part of Goode's bid for Philadelphia to host Super Bowl XXI. The band has also marched in the Miss America Parade, performed on the Merv Griffin Show, Philadelphia's Puerto Rican Day parade, with the USO and in a command performance at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. with Charlie Daniels and the Rockettes in 1991. In 2004, the band performed in front of a live crowd of 280,000 people in the Chinese New Year Parade in Hong Kong. They have also performed in the Grand Opera House, appeared on the same bill with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and played across the Brooklyn Bridge when it was re-dedicated.In 1983, the band was selected to represent the East Coast and was one of only four bands to perform at the National Sports Festival held at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. The group was named the championship band and was personally congratulated by Bob Hope who was the Olympic Committee Co-Chairman.Also in 1983, the band was a plaintiff in a federal lawsuit aimed at preventing planned changes to the Mummer's Parade.In September 2007, the Tacony warehouse that they were renting was destroyed by arson. The band lost thousands of dollars worth of tools, set pieces and an inventory of thousands of ostrich feathers. The total loss was estimated at $20,000, with $6,000 of that being feathers alone. As of December 2007, they are unsure if their insurance will cover the loss.While bands typically spend most of the year preparing for the parade on New Year's Day, the band was able to rebuild most of their planned sets and props in time for the 2008 parade. The band publicly cited help from supporters and their competitors in the parade, with help coming from every other string band in the city and critically needed feathers from South Philadelphia, Avalon, Woodland and Trilby.In 1963, Sure Records released the band's album "String Band Sound of All-Time Favorites".

On November 7, 2020, four days after the United States presidential election, Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City and an attorney for then-president Donald Trump, hosted a press conference at Four Seasons Total Landscaping, a small business in the Holmesburg neighborhood of Near Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The event was held at the company's garage door and parking lot to discuss the status of the Trump campaign's legal challenges to the ballot-counting process in the state, where the president's early election lead over Joe Biden had shifted to a shortfall as mailed-in ballots were counted for Philadelphia, historically a heavily Democratic city. The site of the press conference, a local landscaping business, was unexpected. Many journalists and others quickly observed a comical aspect to its location, near a sex shop and a crematorium. This site selection led to speculation that the Trump campaign meant to book the upscale Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia, five city blocks from the Pennsylvania Convention Center, where Philadelphia's ballots were being counted. Shortly after Giuliani began talking to the assembled reporters, the Associated Press projected Biden as the winner of the Pennsylvania vote and thus the nationwide election. Several news outlets characterized the event as the symbolic end of Trump's presidency.The event was ridiculed by journalists and users of social media. It garnered further ridicule after it emerged that one of the speakers at the event was a convicted sex offender. It resulted in lawyers withdrawing from the legal team that the Trump campaign had assembled to challenge the election results. In response to the press conference, a Four Seasons-themed charity run was created, and the landscaping company capitalized on the newfound attention by selling T-shirts and other merchandise.

Mary Disston School is a historic school building located in the Tacony neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1900–1901, and is a two-story, three-bay, "U"-shaped stone building in the Colonial Revival style. A rear addition was built in 1967. It features a recessed central entrance with columnaded porch, arched openings, and a balcony; a central Palladian window; and hipped roof.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. For a time the building was home to St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church.

Holmesburg began as a Village within Lower Dublin Township, Pennsylvania. It is now a neighborhood in the Northeast section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Holmesburg was named in Honor of Surveyor General of Pennsylvania Thomas Holme, who was a cartographer. The Surveyor General had no apparent business relationship or blood kinship to one John Holme, a Baptist minister and magistrate who immigrated to Philadelphia in the 1680s from New Jersey.John Holme's decedents were land speculators and became very prominent citizens in Holmesburg, who owned a portion of the Pennypack grist mill and a lumber business, establishing an estate called Box Grove.Holmesburg is bordered to the west by Brous Ave. to Ryan Ave. to Sandy Run/Pennypack Creek to Holme Ave. to Holme Circle to Ashton Rd. to Willits Rd, the Delaware River to the east, and Cottman avenue to the south. Abraham Lincoln High School, a public school located in the Mayfair section of Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Its main entrance is located at Ryan and Rowland Avenues. The principal is Mr. Jack Nelson. It serves Mayfair, Holmesburg, and Torresdale.

On June 11, 2023, a tanker truck carrying gasoline lost control as it was attempting to exit the highway and caught fire under the overpass carrying Interstate 95 (I-95) at the Pennsylvania Route 73 (PA 73, Cottman Avenue) interchange in the Tacony neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia. The extreme heat caused the northbound lanes to collapse and damaged the southbound lanes. This resulted in a roughly nine-mile (14 km) closure of both directions of I-95 between the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue (exit 26) and PA 63/Woodhaven Road (exit 35). After emergency construction of a temporary roadway, traffic resumed June 23, less than two weeks after the fire.A similar incident was seen in 2007 where a large fire caused the collapse of a connector in the MacArthur Maze in Oakland, California, and in 2017 where a large fire caused the collapse of an overpass that was a part of I-85 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Tacony station is a SEPTA Regional Rail station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Located at Disston and Keystone Streets in the Tacony neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia, it serves the Trenton Line. It is 12.1 track miles (19.5 km) from Suburban Station. In 2004, this station saw 131 boardings on an average weekday. Amtrak does not stop at this station.

The Tacony Music Hall is a historic building in the Tacony neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The three-story brick building was erected in 1885 by Frank W. Jordan, a local druggist and entrepreneur, as a multi-use facility, with retail shop space on the first floor, an auditorium on the second, and space for the Keystone Scientific and Literary Association (founded 1876, later called the Disston Library and Free Reading Room) on the third.P. T. Barnum and Susan B. Anthony lectured here. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. In March 2017 the building owners and operators began the process of opening a sex positive community center. Membership is limited to those over 18 years of age who may pay a membership or event fee and may sign a membership form or liability waiver. The second and third floors are used by this organization which is called Philly Music Hall LLC. They rejected the label of "sex club". Nevertheless, a spokesperson recognizes that "occasionally there will be people who have sex." Programming includes workshops, events, and community meetups to discuss and practice various forms of alternative sexuality. Participants are encouraged to practice active consent and safe sex, with failure to do so resulting in suspension or revocation of membership.The center permanently closed in August 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
