The Career and Academic Development Institute (CADI), opened its doors on September 7, 2004, and is an accelerated alternative high school located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The school was developed as a cooperative effort between OIC of America, a non-profit organization, designated to serve the community with the mantra of "Helping people help themselves", (founded by the late Rev. Leon Sullivan) and the School District of Philadelphia. The school provides transitional services both academic and developmental to a myriad of students of diverse backgrounds, with many being from low income and underserved communities. CADI services students ages 17–21, who have been absent from traditional high school for at least six months. The Career and Academic Development Institute's curriculum is parallel with the Philadelphia school district's high school standards of learning. CADI was uniquely designed to assist students by providing several different program options that may fit students scheduling needs, which include year-round sessions during the day. Students also earn credits through computer assisted instruction when appropriate although the program is mostly a live instruction model. Along with Program Director C. Benjamin Lattimore and Principal Dana Rapoport, the Career and Academic Development Institute has a dynamic team of instructors, case managers, development specialists, and administrative support staff. Eligibility Requirements: Individual must be between the ages of 16 and 21 and either (a) enrolled in a Philadelphia School District school, but has failed to earn a significant number of credits towards graduation (b) has previously dropped out of school; or (c) who is returning from an adjudicated court placement.

The Reading Viaduct, also called The Rail Park, is a disused elevated rail line in the Callowhill district of Philadelphia that has been partly transformed into a rail trail. In 2010, the Center City District and a new community organization, Friends of the Rail Park, began to evaluate options to convert the abandoned viaduct into an elevated park.On October 31, 2016, construction began on the plan's Phase 1, which added a boardwalk, benches, landscaping, and swings along a quarter-mile (400-meter) section of the viaduct from Broad Street to Callowhill Street; it also reinforced the existing 13th street bridge. The Phase 1 section opened to the public on June 14, 2018.

The Roman Catholic High School of Philadelphia was founded by Thomas E. Cahill in 1890 as the first free Diocesan Catholic high school for boys in the nation. It is also known as "Roman Catholic" or simply "Roman." The school is located at the intersection of Broad and Vine Streets in Center City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Callowhill Industrial Historic District is a national historic district located in the Callowhill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It encompasses 31 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, and 1 contributing structure. The commercial and industrial buildings were mostly built from the 1890s through the 1930s. They range from 4 to 14 stories in height and the exteriors are of brick, concrete, terra cotta, and stone. Most of the buildings are characterized as box-shaped, mid-rise loft buildings with flat roofs. Also in the district are eleven 2+1⁄2-story brick rowhouses, with the earliest dated to the 1830s. Notable buildings include the Rebman Building (1903), Stewart Cracker Building (c. 1900), U.S. Tire Company Building (1911), Lasher Building (1927), Philadelphia City Morgue (1928), and Overland Motor Company Building (1910, c. 1940). Located in the district and listed separately are the Smaltz Building (1912), Terminal Commerce Building, Goodman Brothers and Hinlein Company, and the Packard Motor Corporation Building.In 2012 the Overland Motor Company Building was demolished by The Pennsylvania Ballet in order to make room for their planned Louise Reed Center for Dance. In 2018 the U.S. Tire Company Building met with the same fate.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Smaltz Building, also known as the Smaltz-Goodwin Building, is a historic factory building located in the Callowhill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1911, and is a 10-story, 11 bay by five bay, reinforced concrete building. It originally housed the Smaltz-Goodwin women's shoe manufacturer until 1933, then a variety of clothing manufacturers.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. It is a contributing property to the Callowhill Industrial Historic District. Between 2012 and 2016 the Post Brothers development company rehabbed the Smaltz Building into the first LEED Gold certified residential high-rise in Philadelphia, opening the building as The Goldtex apartment community in January 2016.

Race-Vine is a rapid transit passenger rail station on SEPTA's Broad Street Line. It is located at 300 North Broad Street (PA 611) in the Center City district of Philadelphia, and serves both local and express trains. The station is named after Vine Street, which today acts as frontage roads along Interstate 676 and nearby Race Street, although the given address is closer to westbound Vine than Race. This stop is also used as the official stop for the Pennsylvania Convention Center on the Broad Street Line; signs will direct passengers to the appropriate exits. However, riding the Broad Street Line one stop further south to City Hall and then connecting to the Market–Frankford Line East toward Frankford and then exiting at 11th Street station will bring passengers right inside the Convention Center and the Fashion District Philadelphia. In addition to the Convention Center and other sights on the westernmost edge of Chinatown, the Race–Vine station serves several office buildings, Magee (Thomas Jefferson University) Rehabilitation Center, the Parkway Museum District, Roman Catholic High School, and the School of Nursing campus of Drexel University. Passengers may connect to SEPTA City Bus Routes 4, 16, and 27 here, in addition to a number of NJ Transit bus routes, which board on the northeast corner of Broad Street and Vine Street. Until the mid-1990s there was a concourse leading up Broad Street from City Hall to the Race Street side of the station.

The Packard Motor Car Company Building, also known as the Press Building, is a historic office building located at 317–321 N. Broad Street between Pearl and Wood Streets in the Callowhill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The structure was built in 1910–11 and was designed by Albert Kahn of the noted Detroit architectural firm of Kahn & Wilby. It is a nine-story, steel framed, reinforced concrete building – one of the first uses of that material in a commercial building. Clad in terra cotta and featuring an ornamented canopy and a prominent overhanging roof, the building housed a showroom and new car inventory space for the Packard Motor Car Company. The showroom was remodeled in 1927 by Philip Tyre. In November 1928, the building became the headquarters of the Philadelphia Record newspaper, which it remained until the Record folded in a 1947 strike. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It is a contributing property to the Callowhill Industrial Historic District. The building was renovated into apartments in 1986 by Bower Lewis Thrower and John Milner Associates.

The Inquirer Building, formerly called the Elverson Building, is an eighteen-story building at the intersection of North Broad and Callowhill Streets in the Logan Square neighborhood of Philadelphia, completed in 1924 as the new home for the newspaper The Philadelphia Inquirer, which was joined by the Philadelphia Daily News in 1957. The original name refers to James Elverson, the publisher of the Inquirer from 1889 until his death in 1911. His son, "Colonel" James Elverson Jr., took over as publisher, and had the building constructed and dedicated to his father. The building is the new headquarters of the Philadelphia Police Department, the 6th and 9th Police Districts, and the Medical Examiner's Office.

The Adelphi School was a Quaker-organized school for poor children that operated between 1808 and 1906 in what is now the Chinatown neighborhood of Philadelphia's Center City. Originally founded to educate white boys during its first several years, it shifted focus to educating black children after the public education system was established in Pennsylvania. The Adelphi School was sustained through charitable donations, at no cost to its students. The building that housed the school beginning in 1832 is thought to be Philadelphia's "last surviving example of a free school building". It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Callowhill is one of the unofficial names for a neighborhood in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, located roughly in the vicinity of Callowhill Street, between Vine Street, Spring Garden Street, Broad Street, and 8th Street. The name "Callowhill" was coined by the Callowhill Neighborhood Association, a community organization in the area; although this name often appears on online maps, the City of Philadelphia does not have an official name for this area. Callowhill is named for Callowhill Street, which was named after Hannah Callowhill Penn, William Penn's second wife. Callowhill was formerly home to large-scale manufacturing and other industries, of which an architectural history has been left in the form of grand old abandoned factories. During the 1970s and 1980s, the population of Callowhill plummeted, and although numbers are rising, it is a fairly unpopulated section of the city compared to surrounding neighborhoods. Recently developers have started to employ adaptive reuse projects, converting them into loft style housing; so much so that many have termed the neighborhood "The Loft District". In 2010 the Callowhill Industrial Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places.Callowhill is physically cut off from its neighbor to the south, Chinatown, by the Vine Street Expressway. This has largely prevented Chinese businesses from spreading north, although some industrial and storage uses by the Chinese community have been placed in Callowhill. Vine Street is also blamed for the abrupt drop in pedestrian life above Chinatown, and the struggle faced by efforts to redevelop this section of the city that lies between Center City and North Philadelphia. The former Reading Railroad train trestle, the Reading Viaduct, is a defining feature of the Callowhill neighborhood. Neighborhood groups have proposed that the abandoned structure be maintained as a public park. The Reading Viaduct park plan gained momentum in 2009 when Philadelphia's Center City District (CCD), and its influential president Paul Levy, became enamored of the idea and ultimately became a partner to help manage the project. CCD announced on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 that the first phase of the quarter-mile-long, elevated park would open in spring 2018. The actual grand opening of The Rail park was held on June 14, 2018, attracting a large crowd.Philadelphia Traffic Court is in Callowhill, at Spring Garden Street and North 8th Street.

Philadelphia Lodge No. 2 BPOE, also known as the Philadelphia Athletic Club, was a historic Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) lodge occupying 306-320 N. Broad Street in the Logan Square neighborhood of Center City Philadelphia. The lodge, built between 1922 and 1925, was a 13-story building. The BPOE moved into the new lodge from the 4-story building at 1320–1322 Arch Street, built in 1904–1906 and designed by Francis Caldwell and Edward Simon, that still stands.The Elks occupied the bottom five floors, with residential/hotel accommodations in the higher eight floors. The lower floors included meeting rooms, restaurants, ballrooms, and auditoria. The entrance featured a two-storey portal framed in limestone and capped by a giant keystone.Although being added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, the building was purchased by Hahnemann University for $2.35 million in 1991 and was demolished the following year.

The Mathematics, Civics and Sciences Charter School (MCSCS) is a charter school serving students in grades 1–12 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Founded in 1999, the school is located in the Center City neighborhood and had a 100% graduation rate in 2015–2016.
