Armory Show

The 69th Regiment Armory is a historic National Guard armory building located at 68 Lexington Avenue between East 25th and 26th Streets in the Rose Hill section of Manhattan, New York City. The building began construction in 1904 and was completed in 1906. The armory was designed by the firm of Hunt & Hunt, and was the first armory built in New York City to not be modeled on a medieval fortress; instead, it was designed in the Beaux-Arts style.The Armory was the site of the controversial 1913 Armory Show, in which modern art was first publicly presented in the United States, per the efforts of Irish American collector John Quinn. It has a 5,000 seat arena that is used for sporting and entertainment events such as the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. The Armory is also the former home of the Civil Air Patrol – Phoenix Composite Squadron. The building is still used to house the headquarters of the New York Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment (known as the "Fighting Irish" since Gettysburg), as well as for the presentation of special events. The building was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1965, and a New York City landmark in 1983.

The 69th New York Infantry Regiment is an infantry regiment of the United States Army. It is from New York City, part of the New York Army National Guard. It is known as the "Fighting Sixty-Ninth", a name said to have been given by Robert E. Lee during the Civil War. An Irish heritage unit, as the citation from poet Joyce Kilmer, illustrates, this unit is also nicknamed the "Fighting Irish", immortalized in Joyce Kilmer's poem When the 69th Comes Home. Between 1917 and 1992 it was also designated as the 165th Infantry Regiment. It is headquartered at the 69th Regiment Armory in Manhattan. The regiment currently consists of a single light infantry battalion (1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment) and is part of the 27th Infantry Brigade of the 42nd Infantry Division. The regiment has seen combat in four wars: the American Civil War, World War I, World War II, and the Iraq War. It has also participated in 23 campaigns, so many that the staffs of its regimental colors are authorized to be one foot longer than normal to accommodate them all.: 12 

Upland is a restaurant located in the Manhattan borough of New York City. It opened in 2014 and is owned by Philadelphia-based restaurateur Stephen Starr. The interiors were designed by Roman and Williams. The firm also designed the interiors of Starr restaurants Le Coucou and The Love. There is also an Upland location in Miami.Former president Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are regulars at the restaurant. Barack and Michelle Obama have both eaten at the restaurant as well.

Swann Galleries is a New York City auction house founded in 1941. It is a specialist auctioneer of antique and rare works on paper, and it is considered the oldest continually operating New York specialist auction house. The company has separate specialist departments for books, autographs and manuscripts, maps and atlases, photographs and photographic literature, prints and drawings, vintage posters, illustration art, and African-American fine art. Additionally, Swann conducts annual sales of printed and manuscript African Americana. In total, Swann conducts over 35 catalogued live auctions a year.

Jazz Standard was a jazz club located at 116 East 27th Street in the Rose Hill neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. It frequently hosted well-known bands and musicians. The club was owned by restaurateur Danny Meyer and was located in the basement of one of his Blue Smoke restaurants. The Mingus Big Band, the Mingus Orchestra, and Mingus Dynasty rotated every Monday night as the club's de facto house bands. The former won the 2011 Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album for their album Live at Jazz Standard. The Maria Schneider Orchestra played a week-long gig at the club every Thanksgiving from 2005 to 2019.The magazine New York listed the club as a ″top 5 jazz joint″. The New York City Jazz Record named Jazz Standard the "venue of the year" 2017. On December 2, 2020, the Jazz Standard announced it would be closing its doors at 116 East 27th Street permanently, due to lack of revenue from COVID-19 and stalled rent negotiations.

Hotel Giraffe is a luxury hotel in Rose Hill, Manhattan, New York City. The hotel has won many awards such as "Best Boutique Hotel-2007" according to CitySearch.com. Hotel Giraffe is located at the northeast corner of Park Avenue South and 26th Street. Hotel Giraffe is part of The Library Hotel Collection, a boutique hotel group owned by Henry Kallan. There are four hotels within the LHC: The Hotel Giraffe, The Casablanca Hotel Times Square, The Library Hotel, and The Hotel Elysee. These four consistently rank in the top ten hotels in NYC by the members of TripAdvisor.com Hotel Giraffe opened in December 1999 and was upgraded several times in the first decade.

The Peoples Improv Theater (PIT), also known as the PIT, is a comedy theater and training center in New York City, founded by comedian Ali Farahnakian in 2002. Shows combine improvisational comedy, sketch comedy, stand-up, theater, and variety. Each show is hosted by a combination of "house teams" of comedians hired by PIT and by outside comedians.After closing several of their theaters due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The PIT now only resides in its PIT Loft location in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.Notable alumni of the PIT include The Office actress Ellie Kemper, comedian and voice actress Kristen Schaal, and comedian and actor Hannibal Buress.

The Zicklin School of Business (commonly known as Zicklin) is the business school of Baruch College. It was established in 1919 and is named after financier and alumnus Lawrence Zicklin. Zicklin is the largest business school in the United States, with more than 10,000 students enrolled in its programs. The current dean is H. Fenwick Huss, formerly the dean of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. Zicklin and the Murray Koppelman School of Business at Brooklyn College are the only two units of the City University of New York that are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

The Marxe School of Public and International Affairs (commonly known as the Marxe School) is the public policy school of Baruch College. It was established in 1994. It is the only school under the City University of New York which is dedicated to public affairs. David S. Birdsell is the Marxe Dean of the Marxe School of Public and International Affairs.

The Weissman School of Arts and Sciences (commonly known as Weissman) is the arts and sciences school of Baruch College. Named after George Weissman, former president of Philip Morris, and his wife Mildred, the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences is one of the three schools that comprise Baruch College and offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in various disciplines. While the Zicklin School of Business is the largest school at Baruch College, Weissman offers a majority of the courses in the required core curriculum for undergraduates.

Rose Hill is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Manhattan, between the neighborhoods of Murray Hill to the north and Gramercy Park to the south, Kips Bay to the east, the Flatiron District to the southwest, and NoMad to the northwest. The formerly unnamed area is sometimes considered to be a part of NoMad, because the name "Rose Hill" was chiefly used for the area in the 18th and 19th centuries, and is not very commonly used to refer to the area in the 2010s.The AIA Guide to New York City defines Rose Hill as the area bounded by 23rd Street to the south, 32nd Street to the north, Madison Avenue to the west, and Third Avenue to the east. The president of the Rose Hill Neighborhood Association considers the eastern boundary to be the East River. The Rose Hill neighborhood straddles Manhattan Community Districts 5 and 6.

Stony Brook Manhattan was established in 2002 as a branch facility of Stony Brook University. It consolidated operations in 2011 to the 3rd floor of 387 Park Avenue South, with a classroom entrance around the corner at 101 East 27th Street. The 18,000-square-foot (1,700 m2) site allowed Stony Brook to offer professional and graduate courses targeted towards students in the city; undergraduate courses were held primarily during the summer and winter sessions. Conferences and special events took place throughout the year. As of February 2017, the lease for the facility was terminated and classes are no longer offered.
