Drumsurn (from Irish Droim Sorn 'furnace ridge') is a small village and townland in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It is 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) southeast of Limavady and 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) northeast of Dungiven. It lies in the Roe Valley, at the foot of Donald's Hill and at the edge of the Sperrins. Drumsurn had a population of 357 people in the 2001 Census. It is situated within Causeway Coast and Glens district.

East Londonderry is a constituency in the Northern Ireland Assembly. The seat was first used for a Northern Ireland-only election for the Northern Ireland Forum in 1996. Since 1998, it has elected members to the current Assembly. For Assembly elections prior to 1996, the constituency was largely part of the Londonderry constituency with a small part around Portrush coming from North Antrim constituency. Since 1997, it has usually shared boundaries with the East Londonderry UK Parliament constituency, with the exception of from 2010 to 2011, and from 2024 to 2027. Benbradagh (from Irish Binn Bhradach 'treacherous peak') is a large hill near Dungiven in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It rises to 465 metres (1,526 ft) and is north of the Sperrin Mountains. Benbradagh was used from the 1940s to the early 1970s as a United States Military communications base for its North Atlantic fleet. US forces also built underground stores for high explosives at Benbradagh. In the early 1980s, Col Buckley, of the Directorate of Military Intelligence (Ireland), believed the UK could use the facility to store nuclear weapons. Col Buckley complained that he did not have "the monitoring or surveillance systems" to confirm whether nuclear weapons were being kept there, but the British strongly denied having nuclear weapons in Northern Ireland.

The Limavady Railway was a railway line that branched off from the Belfast–Derry line at Limavady Junction near Ballykelly to Limavady. The line was later extended a further 7 miles to Dungiven. The Limavady to Dungiven section of the line was closed on 3 July 1950. The initial branch was opened on 29 December 1852 by the Londonderry and Coleraine Railway and was extended to its final terminus, Dungiven, on 4 July 1883; the extension was closed for passenger traffic on 1 January 1933 and finally closed altogether on 3 July 1950, with the rest of the line losing its passenger service the same day. The Limavady section, having already lost its passenger service, was closed entirely on 2 May 1955. Although the line was removed, remnants of the line can be found around Limavady, usually in the form of bridges, including the old railway bridge outside Limavady on the Seacoast Road. An All-Island Strategic Rail Review published jointly by the Irish and Northern Irish governments in 2023 recommended reopening the line to Limavady, although it has yet to be implemented as of 2024.

St Canice's GAC Dungiven (Irish: Cumann Chainnigh Naofa Dún Geimhin) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Dungiven, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It is part of Derry GAA. It currently caters for Gaelic football and Ladies' Gaelic football. The hurling club in the town is Kevin Lynch's. The club's biggest success was when they won the 1997 Ulster Senior Club Football Championship. They have also won the Derry Senior Football Championship on seven occasions, and the Derry GAA Senior Hurling Championship nine times. Dungiven GAC was a combined football and hurling club until 1981. Following the death of Kevin Lynch (an Irish National Liberation Army volunteer from Dungiven) on hunger strike the hurling team changed its name as a mark of respect and became a separate club.

Saint Matthew's Gaelic Athletic Club (Irish: CLG Naomh Maitiú Droim Soirn) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Drumsurn, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The club is affiliated to Derry GAA and currently competes in gaelic football and camogie. Underage teams up to U-12s play in North Derry league and championships, from U-14 upwards teams compete in All-Derry competitions. Drumsurn fields Gaelic football teams at U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14 and Senior levels. They currently compete in the Derry Intermediate Championship and Division 1B of the Derry Senior ACFL. Some Notable Players from Drumsurn GAC is Cahir McGowan famously known for scoring 1-12 playing as Corner Forward Against Glenullin in the Intermediate Championship Semi-Final in 1991. The U-16 and Minor teams are amalgamated with Drum and play as St Patrick's.

Dungiven (from Irish Dún Geimhin, meaning 'Gevin's fort') is a small town, townland and civil parish in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It is near the main A6 Belfast to Derry road, which bypasses the town. It lies where the rivers Roe, Owenreagh and Owenbeg meet at the foot of the 1,525 ft (465 m) Benbradagh. Nearby is the Glenshane Pass, where the road rises to over 1,000 ft (300 m). It had a population of 3,346 people in the 2021 census. It is within Causeway Coast and Glens district council area.

On 24 June 1972, in the rural townland of Crabarkey near Dungiven, the Provisional IRA detonated an improvised land mine, killing three British Army soldiers in a Land Rover. It was one of many such landmine attacks by the IRA in rural areas in the 1970s.

Bovevagh is a civil parish in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland.
