Fulton Park

Boys and Girls High School, the oldest public high school in Brooklyn, is a comprehensive high school in Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York, United States. The school is located at 1700 Fulton Street.As of the 2014–15 school year, the school had an enrollment of 643 students and 43.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 15.0:1. There were 463 students (72.0% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 15 (2.3% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Troy Avenue was a station on the demolished BMT Fulton Street Line in Brooklyn, New York City. It had 2 tracks and 2 side platforms. It was opened sometime during the middle of 1888, and served by trains of the BMT Fulton Street Line. Sometime between 1912 and 1924, the nearby Albany–Sumner Avenues station was closed due to the Dual Contracts addition of a third track between Nostrand Avenue and Hinsdale Street. Commuters from that station were redirected here. It was served by BMT 13 trains throughout its existence. The next stop to the west was originally Sumner Avenue, and then replaced by Tompkins Avenue. In 1936, the Independent Subway System built their own Fulton Street subway but did not install a subway station at Troy Avenue. The nearest subway stations to replace the el station were Utica Avenue to the east and Kingston and Throop Avenues to the west. The el station became obsolete, and it closed on May 31, 1940.

Reid Avenue was a station on the demolished BMT Fulton Street Line. It had 2 tracks and 2 side platforms. It was served by trains of the BMT Fulton Street Line. The station was opened in 1888 and was originally named Utica Avenue station. Sometime between 1912 and 1924, the name of the station was changed to Reid Avenue. The station was also served by a streetcar line with the same name both before and after the name change. The next stop to the east was Ralph Avenue. The next stop to the west was Troy Avenue. In 1936, the Independent Subway System built their own Fulton Street subway and added an underground subway station with the old name. The el station became obsolete, and it closed on May 31, 1940.

The Utica Avenue station is an express station on the IND Fulton Street Line of the New York City Subway. Located at Utica Avenue and Fulton Street in Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, it is served by the A train at all times and the C train at all times except late nights.

Macon Library is a branch of the Brooklyn Public Library, located in the Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. The branch, opened in 1907, was the borough's eleventh Carnegie library. Richard A. Walker designed Macon in the Classical Revival style and the library was built from red brick and limestone trim with a slate roof at a cost of $93,481 (equivalent to $1,900,000 in 2020). In the 1940s, 1970s, and 2000s, the library underwent major renovations and repairs. Despite the changes, design elements present at the library's opening remain, including some bookshelves, guardrails, and wood paneling. Macon Library houses the African American Heritage Center.

462 Halsey Community Farm is a community farm in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. It is located on Halsey Street between Lewis Avenue and Marcus Garvey Boulevard.

The Howard Colored Orphan Asylum was one of the few orphanages to be led by and for African Americans. It was located on Troy Avenue and Dean Street in Weeksville, a historically black settlement in what is now Crown Heights, Brooklyn, New York City. The asylum gradually deteriorated due to lack of funding, and closed in 1918 after an incident involving burst water pipes, which resulted in two students contracting frostbite and having their feet amputated.

Albany–Sumner Avenues was a station on the demolished BMT Fulton Street Line. It had 2 tracks and 2 side platforms. It was served by trains of the BMT Fulton Street Line. The station was opened on May 30, 1888, and had connections to the Sumner Avenue Line streetcars. Eastbound trains stopped at Albany Avenue, while westbound trains stopped at Sumner Avenue (now Marcus Garvey Boulevard). The next stop to the east was Troy Avenue. The next stop to the west was Tompkins Avenue. During 1912 and 1924, the Dual Contracts program installed a third track on the Fulton El between Nostrand Avenue and the new Hinsdale Street station. Albany-Sumner Avenues stations were closed during that time. In 1936 the Independent Subway System built an underground Fulton Street subway station at Kingston–Throop Avenues between here and the nearby Brooklyn–Tompkins Avenues Station. The el station became obsolete.

Interfaith Medical Center is a hospital located in Brooklyn, New York. With facilities in Crown Heights, Bedford-Stuyvesant, and Prospect Heights, it is a full-service non-profit community hospital that has 287 beds and serves more than 11,000 inpatients each year. It also has more than 200,000 outpatient visits and services and 50,000 emergency department visits annually. Interfaith is also a teaching hospital, with four graduate medical education residency programs, and fellowship programs in Pulmonary Medicine, Cardiology and Gastroenterology. Interfaith continues to serve as a safety-net hospital for its surrounding community since it emerged from bankruptcy in 2014.In addition to its main campus at 1545 Atlantic Avenue, Interfaith has other buildings which house specialists who provide care and offer community education and physician referrals to several other areas in Central Brooklyn. The largest is the Bishop Orris G. Walker, Jr. Healthcare Center, located at 528 Prospect Place and serving Prospect Heights and Crown Heights. The Bishop Orris G. Walker Center houses most outpatient specialties along with an internal medicine clinic and Atlantic Urgent Care.

Shortly before midnight on September 11, 2001, Henryk Siwiak (1955–2001), a Polish immigrant, was fatally shot on a street in the Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, where he had mistakenly gone in order to start a new job. He was able to make it to the door of a nearby house before he collapsed. The homicide remains unsolved; Siwiak has been described as "the last person killed in New York on 9/11", although his death was unrelated to the terror attacks earlier that day.The initial investigation into the crime may have been hampered, police believe, by the diversion of law enforcement resources in the city in the wake of that day's terrorist attacks, which ultimately killed almost 3,000 people. Since Siwiak was not robbed, wore camouflage clothing and spoke poor English with a heavy accent, detectives have speculated that his killer may have thought he had something to do with the attacks. Siwiak's homicide is the only one recorded in New York City on September 11, 2001, since the city does not include the deaths from the attacks in its official crime statistics.

Shaari Zedek Synagogue, also known as Congregation Achavat Achim and since 1944 as St. Leonard's Church, is a historic synagogue at 767 Putnam Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York. It was built in 1909–1910 and is a two-story rectangular brick building with cast stone trim.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

The 13th Regiment Armory is a historic armory designed by architects Rudolph L. Daus and Fay Kellogg and built in 1892–1894. It is located at 357 Marcus Garvey Boulevard (also known as Sumner Avenue) between Putnam and Jefferson Avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York City. Daus had previously designed the Lincoln Club on Putnam Avenue in 1889.The armory building is currently used as the Pamoja House (also known as Sumner House Shelter Care Center for Men), a homeless shelter for men managed by Black Veterans for Social Justice, Inc. and supervised by New York City Department of Homeless Services. The Pamoja House is named for the Swahili word for "together".The armory's design is expansive, yet austere. According to Francis Morrone, "Something, perhaps the busy-ness or a greater stridency in the machicolations, makes this armory seem more forbidding than the 23rd Regiment's which is actually rather jolly."
