Craigavon

European route E18 runs from Craigavon in Northern Ireland to Saint Petersburg in Russia, passing through Scotland, England, Norway, Sweden and Finland. It is about 1,890 kilometres (1,174 miles) in length. Although the designation implies the possibility of a through journey, this is no longer practical as there are no direct car ferry crossings between the United Kingdom and Norway.

Rushmere Shopping Centre (formerly known as the Craigavon Shopping Centre or the Craigavon Centre) is a shopping centre and retail park in Craigavon, County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Opened in 1976, the centre is the one of the oldest and the third largest shopping centre in Northern Ireland, behind Belfast's Victoria Square and Derry's Foyleside, at over 350,000 sq ft, although combined with the retail park makes it over 480,000 sq ft. The anchor tenant of the centre is Primark, while the retail park's anchors are Homebase and Matalan.

Upper Bann (Irish: An Bhanna Uachtarach, Ulster Scots: Ower Bann) is a constituency in the Northern Ireland Assembly. The seat was first used for a Northern Ireland-only election for the Northern Ireland Forum in 1996. Since 1998, it has elected members to the current Assembly. For Assembly elections prior to 1996, the constituency was largely part of the Armagh and South Down constituencies with a small section around Aghagallon joining from South Antrim. Since 1997, it has shared boundaries with the Upper Bann UK Parliament constituency. Craigavon Borough Council was a local council in counties Armagh, Down and Antrim, in Northern Ireland. It merged with Armagh City and District Council and Banbridge District Council in May 2015 under local government reorganisation in Northern Ireland to become Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon District Council. The headquarters of the council were in Craigavon, on the shores of Lough Neagh, a new town built between Lurgan and Portadown. The council area included the large towns of Lurgan and Portadown, as well as smaller ones including Waringstown and Donaghcloney. The average council budget of £15.5 million provided a wide range of services to the 93,023 people living in the area. The council area consisted of four electoral areas – Central, Loughside, Lurgan and Portadown – in which 26 councillors were elected every four years. The council held an annual meeting in June, at which a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor were elected. Parties elected in 2011, the last elections for the council, were Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) nine seats, Sinn Féin eight, Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) six, Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) four, and Alliance Party of Northern Ireland one. The last election was due to take place in May 2009, but on 25 April 2008, Shaun Woodward, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland announced that the scheduled 2009 district council elections were to be postponed until the introduction of the eleven new councils in 2011. The proposed reforms were abandoned in 2010, and the 2011 Northern Ireland local elections took place to fill the last body on the council before being dissolved The proposed reform took effect on 1 April 2015. Together with part of the district of Banbridge, it was part of the Upper Bann constituency for elections to the Westminster Parliament and Northern Ireland Assembly.

Aghacommon (from Irish Achadh Camán) is a small village and townland in north County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It lies between Derrymacash (to the northwest), Lurgan (to the east) and Craigavon (to the south). The M1 motorway and Dublin–Belfast railway line are on either side. The village covers the townlands of Aghacommon and Ballynamony. The village is often confused with its better known neighbouring townland Derrymacash. Aghacommon has a Catholic church and primary school, both named for Saint Patrick. At the southern edge of the village is Craigavon lakes and Tannaghmore Animal Farm. The animal farm, which is open to the public, holds rare and endangered farm animals that were once widespread in Ulster. There is a farming museum on the site.

Brownlow Integrated College, Tullygally Road, Craigavon, County Armagh, Northern Ireland was founded in 1973 as Brownlow High School. In 1991, it became the first secondary school in Northern Ireland to transition from a state-controlled school to an integrated school. Mrs N Stevenson is the school's current principal. Brownlow has about 400 pupils. It is not part of the Craigavon two-tier system. The year 8 intake in 2018 was 64.

Craigavon Area Hospital (Irish: Ospidéal Cheantar Craigavon) is a large teaching hospital in Portadown, Craigavon, County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is the main Hospital in the South of Northern Ireland and serves an estimated 241,000 people from the boroughs/districts of Craigavon, Banbridge, Armagh and Dungannon–South Tyrone. It is managed by the Southern Health and Social Care Trust and is located within the townland of Lisnisky, beside the A27 road, at the north-eastern edge of Portadown.

Upper Bann is a parliamentary constituency in Northern Ireland, which is represented in the United Kingdom House of Commons. The current MP is Carla Lockhart of the DUP.

Seagoe Station which was opened on 31 January 1842 by the Ulster Railway Co. and closed on 12 September 1842 when the railway line was completed as far as Portadown and Portadown railway station was opened to passengers on the 12 September 1842 The former station is on the mainline between Lurgan and Portadown on the Belfast-Newry and Dublin Connolly line, located in County Armagh, Northern Ireland.

Derrymacash (from Irish Doire Mhic Cais, meaning 'Oakgrove of MacCash') is a small village and townland in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is about four miles west of Lurgan, between the M1 motorway and Lough Neagh. It had a population of 629 in the 2001 Census.A Catholic church and primary school (both called St Patrick's) are in neighbouring Aghacommon. Many people mistake the townlands of Derrymacash and Aghacommon. Derrymacash starts after one crosses the Closet River, just beyond the M1 bridge, heading towards Lough Neagh.

Craigavon Senior High School was established as a separate controlled school on 1 September 1995. Its primary function is to provide education at Key Stage 4 for those 14- to 16-year-old pupils who transfer from the junior high schools in Lurgan, Portadown and Tandragee. It is the only school in Northern Ireland that solely caters for pupils at Key Stage 4.Craigavon Senior High School operates as a single school on two sites sharing its Lurgan and Portadown campuses with the Upper Bann Institute of Further and Higher Education. It has its own board of governors, principal and teaching staff. By providing a vocational pathway from junior high school through to further education, it forms an integral part of the Craigavon two-tier system of education. The Craigavon system, which originated in 1969, is intended to allow children to transfer from primary to junior high schools at age 11. Selection at the end of Key Stage 3 (14+) enables pupils to follow an academic route or a vocational route based on a combination of Junior High School work and career preferences.In 2019 it was reported that the school's Lurgan site would close, with all pupils accommodated at the Portadown campus from the start of the 2020 academic year.

Drumnacanvy (from Irish: Dromainn Cheannbhuí, meaning 'yellow topped ridge' or 'ridge of the goldcrest') is a small dormitory settlement and townland in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It lies 1.8 mi east-southeast of Portadown. The settlement lies atop a hill within the Green Belt. It also covers small parts of Drumlisnagrilly and Ballynaghy townlands.
