Capecastle railway station

Capecastle or Cape Castle is a small village and townland in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, between Armoy and Ballycastle. It is part of the Causeway Coast and Glens district.

Glentaisie (Irish: Taoibhgeal, English: of the bright cheeks) is one of the nine Glens of Antrim in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It was shaped during the Ice Age by glaciers. The glen is most northerly of the nine glens and lies at the foot of Knocklayde mountain. The town of Ballycastle lies on the coast at the foot of the glen. According to the traditional shanachies, Glentaisie was named after Princess Taisie, the daughter of King Dorm of Rathlin Island. Renowned for her beauty, she was betrothed to Congal, heir to the Kingdom of Ireland, however the King of Norway also sought her hand in marriage, and he arrived to claim his bride, as wedding celebrations to Congal were underway. The King of Norway and his army tried to capture Taisie but in the subsequent battle he was killed and his army fled leaderless and empty handed. The Battle of Glentaisie, was fought in the Glentaisie area on 2 May 1565, with Shane O'Neill defeating Clan MacDonald of Dunnyveg in battle.

The Battle of Glentaisie, was an Irish battle fought in the north of Ulster on 2 May 1565. The result was a victory for Shane O'Neill over the Clan MacDonald of Dunnyveg. The conflict was a part of the political and military struggle, involving the English and occasionally the Scots, for control of northern Ireland. Although the MacDonalds were a Scottish family, based principally on the island of Islay in the Hebrides, they had long been associated with the Gaelic polity rather than the Kingdom of Scotland.

Páirc Mac Uílín (Irish pronunciation: [ˈpˠaːɾʲc mˠək ˈiːlʲiːnʲ]) is a Gaelic Athletic Association playing field in Ballycastle, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is the home of the McQuillan GAC Ballycastle club, one of the most successful teams in the county. The grounds have two full size pitches, floodlight facilities, a training area, a Hurling wall as well as multi-purpose clubrooms. The club also has a wind turbine installed on site. It officially opened in 2007, the centenary year of McQuillan GAC Ballycastle, with GAA President Nickey Brennan, newly installed Ulster President Tom Daly and Antrim chairman Dr John McSparron in attendance. The first match was a friendly between the home side and Kilkenny club James Stephens. In December 2012 Páirc MacUílín received the Antrim and Ulster GAA Ground of the Year awards.During the redevelopment of Casement Park, Páirc MacUílín hosted the senior Antrim county hurling team from 2014 to 2016. It was also selected as the location for the Antrim Senior Hurling Championship finals in 2013, 2014 and 2016. Matches from three different senior inter county competitions have been held at the venue, including the National Hurling League, Leinster Senior Hurling Championship and the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship.

The Dalriada Hospital is a health facility in Ballycastle, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is managed by the Northern Health and Social Care Trust.

Ballycastle (from Irish: Baile an Chaistil, meaning 'town of the castle') is a small seaside town in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is on the northeasternmost coastal tip of Ireland, in the Antrim Coast and Glens Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The harbour hosts the ferry to Rathlin Island, which can be seen from the coast. The Ould Lammas Fair is held each year in Ballycastle on the last Monday and Tuesday of August. Ballycastle is the home of the Corrymeela Community. Ballycastle had a population of 5,237 at the 2011 census. It was the seat and main settlement of the former Moyle District Council.

The House of McDonnell is a traditional Irish pub in Ballycastle, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Established in 1744, the pub is noted for the quality of the traditional Irish pub interior (Grade A listed), which has remained largely unchanged over the years (the last major refurbishment taking place in the mid-19th century). The pub has been described by CAMRA as "a great classic among Irish pubs".

North Antrim was a constituency of the Northern Ireland House of Commons. The House of Commons (Method of Voting and Redistribution of Seats) Act (Northern Ireland), 1929 introduced first-past-the-post elections for 48 single-member constituencies (including Antrim North). This constituency was one of seven county divisions in Antrim, so it was smaller than the UK Parliament seat. From 1969 there were nine county divisions in Antrim, but the changes in the vicinity of Belfast did not affect the boundaries of this division. It comprised (in terms of local government units existing in 1929) parts of the rural districts of Ballycastle and Ballymoney together with the whole of the urban districts of Ballycastle, Ballymoney and Portrush. It returned one member of Parliament from 1929 until the Parliament of Northern Ireland was temporarily suspended in 1972, and then formally abolished in 1973.

Cross & Passion College, Ballycastle is a co-educational secondary school in Ballycastle, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It contains over 750 pupils and over 50 members of staff. It has about 45 classrooms a cafeteria a sports hall a gym and an assembly hall. It also has a handball area, tennis courts, a gravel pitch and a grass pitch. They have a hurling team, camogie team, football team and a netball team

The Ould Lammas Fair is a traditional fair held in Ballycastle, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, every year on the last Monday and Tuesday of August. It is associated with the Lammas harvest festival. The fair has been running for nearly 400 years, dating back to the 17th century. Various goods are traditionally sold at the fair. These include livestock and traditional foods such as Yellowman, a local variant of honeycomb and dulse, a type of edible seaweed. A ballad, The Ould Lammas Fair in Ballycastle O, was written by local shopkeeper and bog oak carver John Henry MacAuley and enhanced the local fame of the fair. MacAuley was also a well known fiddler, but died in 1937 before his song became famous. On 28 August 2001 a Royal Ulster Constabulary officer discovered a large incendiary bomb in the centre of Ballycastle whilst the fair was running. After the area was cleared British Army bomb disposal experts defused the device. The attempted attack was initially claimed by the Red Hand Defenders. However, the RUC later suggested that it was carried out by the Ulster Volunteer Force.No fairs were held in 1915–18 nor 1940–45. The 2020 and 2021 editions of the fair were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
