Eightmile Island

Cheshire is a village in Gallia County, Ohio, United States, along the Ohio River. The population was 123 at the 2020 census. It is part of the rural Point Pleasant micropolitan area.

General James M. Gavin Power Plant is a 2,600-megawatt supercritical coal-fired power station in the village of Cheshire, Ohio, United States. It is owned by Lightstone Generation LLC, a 50–50 joint venture of The Blackstone Group L.P. and ArcLight Capital Partners. Gavin is the largest coal-fired power facility in Ohio, and one of the largest in the US, capable of powering two million homes. In February 2017, the plant represented slightly more than 11% of the total electric generation capacity in Ohio according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). The plant was named in honor of James Maurice "Jumpin' Jim" Gavin, the third Commanding General (CG) of the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II.

Maggie is an unincorporated community in Mason County, in the U.S. state of West Virginia.

Lakin Correctional Center (LCC) is a women's prison in the community of Lakin in unincorporated Mason County, West Virginia.It is on a portion of former Lakin State Hospital property, on West Virginia Route 62, in proximity to West Columbia, 6 miles (9.7 km) north of Point Pleasant, and 3 miles (4.8 km) north of the Army National Guard armory. A part of the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation, it is the sole prison in that system that has only female prisoners. It has a capacity of 462 prisoners.

Lakin is an unincorporated community in Mason County, West Virginia, United States. Lakin is located on West Virginia Route 62, 5 miles (8.0 km) southwest of Mason. The community was named after one M. Lakin, a state official.

Mason County Airport (FAA LID: 3I2) is a public use airport in Mason County, West Virginia, United States. It is owned by the Mason County Commission and located four nautical miles (5 mi, 7 km) northeast of the central business district of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. This airport is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation facility.

Kyger Creek High School was a public high school located outside of the village of Cheshire, at the intersection of Little Kyger and Gravel Hill roads in northern Gallia County, Ohio (USA). It replaced Cheshire High School in 1956 and was in turn replaced by River Valley High School in 1992.

Kyger Creek Power Plant is a 1.08-gigawatt, 1,086 (MW) coal-fired power station located south of Cheshire, Ohio in Gallia County, Ohio. It is operated by the Ohio Valley Electric Corporation (OVEC).

West Virginia Ordnance Works (WVOW) was a United States Army ammunition manufacturing facility constructed and operated during World War II. It was located north of Point Pleasant, West Virginia in Mason County encompassing 8,323 acres (33.68 km2). The $45 million plant employed 3500 at its peak and operated from 1942 to 1945.[1] The site was disposed of following the war and land was utilized by creating a landfill, the McClintic Wildlife Management Area, the Mason County Airport and an industrial park among others. It was also around here that the first known sighting of the cryptid dubbed "Mothman" occurred in November, 1966.

Cheshire Township is one of the fifteen townships of Gallia County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2020 census the population was 898.

Robinson Magisterial District is one of ten magisterial districts in Mason County, West Virginia, United States. The district was originally established as a civil township in 1863, and converted into a magisterial district in 1872. In 2020, Robinson District was home to 3,166 people.
