Cheshire, Ohio

Eightmile Island is a forested island on the Ohio River in Mason County, West Virginia. The island is located directly across the river from the village of Cheshire, Ohio and American Electric Power Company power plant facilities there. General James M. Gavin Power Plant is a 2,600-megawatt supercritical coal-fired power station in the village of Cheshire, Ohio, United States. It is owned by Lightstone Generation LLC, a 50–50 joint venture of The Blackstone Group L.P. and ArcLight Capital Partners. Gavin is the largest coal-fired power facility in Ohio, and one of the largest in the US, capable of powering two million homes. In February 2017, the plant represented slightly more than 11% of the total electric generation capacity in Ohio according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). The plant was named in honor of James Maurice "Jumpin' Jim" Gavin, the third Commanding General (CG) of the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II.

Lakin is an unincorporated community in Mason County, West Virginia, United States. Lakin is located on West Virginia Route 62, 5 miles (8.0 km) southwest of Mason. The community was named after one M. Lakin, a state official.

Lakin Correctional Center (LCC) is a women's prison in the community of Lakin in unincorporated Mason County, West Virginia.It is on a portion of former Lakin State Hospital property, on West Virginia Route 62, in proximity to West Columbia, 6 miles (9.7 km) north of Point Pleasant, and 3 miles (4.8 km) north of the Army National Guard armory. A part of the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation, it is the sole prison in that system that has only female prisoners. It has a capacity of 462 prisoners.

Kyger Creek High School was a public high school located outside of the village of Cheshire, at the intersection of Little Kyger and Gravel Hill roads in northern Gallia County, Ohio (USA). It replaced Cheshire High School in 1956 and was in turn replaced by River Valley High School in 1992.

Mason County Airport (FAA LID: 3I2) is a public use airport in Mason County, West Virginia, United States. It is owned by the Mason County Commission and located four nautical miles (5 mi, 7 km) northeast of the central business district of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. This airport is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation facility.

Kyger Creek Power Plant is a 1.08-gigawatt, 1,086 (MW) coal-fired power station located south of Cheshire, Ohio in Gallia County, Ohio. It is operated by the Ohio Valley Electric Corporation (OVEC).

Cheshire Township is one of the fifteen townships of Gallia County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2020 census the population was 898.

Silver Run is an unincorporated community in Meigs County, in the U.S. state of Ohio.

West Virginia Ordnance Works (WVOW) was a United States Army ammunition manufacturing facility constructed and operated during World War II. It was located north of Point Pleasant, West Virginia in Mason County encompassing 8,323 acres (33.68 km2). The $45 million plant employed 3500 at its peak and operated from 1942 to 1945.[1] The site was disposed of following the war and land was utilized by creating a landfill, the McClintic Wildlife Management Area, the Mason County Airport and an industrial park among others. It was also around here that the first known sighting of the cryptid dubbed "Mothman" occurred in November, 1966.

Spilman is an unincorporated community on the Ohio River in Mason County, West Virginia, United States. The village is located along Spilman Lane, Mason County Route 62/24, parallel to West Virginia Route 62 in Waggener District, about three quarters of a mile southeast of West Columbia.Spilman grew around the site of a post office established in 1887, and named after its first postmaster, Henry E. Spilman, who ran the post office from 1887 to 1909. The post office continued to operate until 1925, when it was discontinued, and the mail redirected to West Columbia. A 1908 USGS topographical survey map shows about two dozen houses or other buildings at Spilman; there were only half as many in 1989, all to the west of Spilman Church.
