Shiner High School (Texas)

Shiner is a city in Lavaca County, Texas, United States. The town was named after Henry B. Shiner, who donated 250 acres (1.0 km2) for a railroad right-of-way. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 2,127. Shiner was founded by German and Czech emigrants.

It produces a diverse line of Shiner beers, including their flagship Shiner Bock, a dark lager that is now distributed throughout the US. The brewery is owned by the Gambrinus Company, a family-owned company based in San Antonio, which also owns Trumer Brewery in Berkeley, California.

Shiner Catholic School is a private, Roman Catholic K-12 school in Shiner, Texas. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Victoria in Texas. It has two components: St. Lumila Elementary School and St. Paul High School.

Flatonia is a town in southwestern Fayette County, Texas, United States. Located on Interstate 10 and the Union Pacific Railroad, 12 miles (19 km) west of Schulenburg, the population was 1,308 at the 2020 census.

St. Mary's Church of the Assumption is a historic church on FM 1295 in Praha, Texas. It was built in 1895 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Gottfried Flury, a Swiss-born artist from Moulton, TX, painted much of the interior. Using a combination of stenciling, infill painting, and freehand techniques, Flury's trompe-l'œil designs mimic stone vaults and Gothic tracery reminiscent of central European models. The ornate polychrome interior of St. Mary's Church of the Assumption is typical of the so-called "Painted Churches of Texas" constructed by immigrants who settled in the region in the nineteenth century.
