The Ben C. and Jenetter Cyrus House, at 325 E. 25th St. in the Independence Heights neighborhood of Houston, Texas, was built around 1915, near the center of Independence Heights. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.It was described in its NRHP nomination as "typical of the housing for many of the middle-class residents of Independence Heights. Ben Cyms operated a jitney service in downtown Houston from about 1915 to the early 1920s. Jitneys provided a basic form of mass transportation in a number of major cities during this period and competed with electric streetcars. Black jitneys served a special role for the African American population as an alternative to other segregated forms of transportation. The City of Houston banned by ordinance all black owned jitneys in 1922-24 at the insistence of the Houston Electric Company, operators of the streetcar line and developing motor bus transportation." The property deemed significant in the area of Ethnic Heritage (black)."About the house: "Although modest in detailing, the house is typical of forms constructed in the city in the mid 1910s. The Cyms House served as a domestic space for the family but also a headquarters for his jitney service in Houston."

The Culinary Institute Lenotre (CIL) is a French-owned Culinary College in the US located in Houston, Texas, and was founded in 1998 by Alain Lenotre, son of the acclaimed French pastry chef Gaston Lenôtre (1920–2009), and his wife, Marie Lenotre.The school is specialized in culinary arts, baking and pastry arts, hotel and restaurant management and Sommelier. The institute offers associate degrees and diploma as well as continuing education programs for professional and recreational cooking classes for non-professionals. The school also operates an onsite restaurant that doubles as a training application environment for its students: Le Bistro.In 2017, the Culinary Institute Lenotre has been named part of the 22 Best Culinary Schools in the US by FSR Magazine. The school has been Ranked The Best College for Culinary Arts in America for 2019, 2020 and 2021 by Niche.com The school colors (Blue and Red) refer to the school's French Legacy.

The General Mercantile Store was a building in Houston, Texas, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building was constructed in 1920 and was added to the National Register on June 4, 1997. It was delisted in August 2014.

The Oscar Lindsay House, at 7415 N. Main St. in Houston, Texas, was built around 1920. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.It is a one-story bungalow house located in the middle of the Independence Heights neighborhood. It was deemed significant as "one of the most intact properties associated with an important businessman and city official of Independence Heights." Oscar Lindsay served as city plumber. He also operated a cleaning and pressing shop, a barber shop and an ice cream parlor business, with the latter in his front yard, taking advantage of its location on the busiest street. The NRHP nomination was prepared by a member of the Independence Heights Neighborhood Council.

The William Mackey House, at 313 E. 37th St. in the Independence Heights neighborhood of Houston, Texas, was built around 1915. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.It is a modified L-plan form house, of type popular at the turn of the 20th century, and "reflects local builder and homeowner preferences for a traditional house form."It was home of William Mackey, a community leader. He was Camp Commander of the American Woodmen Camp 272 and Tent 272, one of three fraternal organizations in Independence Heights. No other properties historically associated with other fraternal organizations survive. The house also was the "initial meeting place for the Unity School of Christianity. Although little is known about the school, it was one of the many religious groups that organized in the community during the early 20th century. Several extant church congregations began in the homes of local residents, but almost none of these remain."

The Charles Johnson House, at 301 E. 35th St. in Houston, Texas, was built around 1915. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.It was one of the earliest houses built in the Independence Heights neighborhood. It was deemed notable as "a representative example of an early 20th century vernacular L-plan form similar to many houses in Independence Heights", and for its association with Charles Johnson. Johnson, "known as 'Charlie,' was one of three ice men who provided an important service to residents of Independence Heights as early as 1915 through the 1920s. Typical of many Independence Heights businesses, Johnson operated the delivery service out of his home."

The Ella Lewis Store and Rental Houses, at 3404-3406-3408 Courtland St. in Houston, Texas, were built around 1920. The collection was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. The listing included three contributing buildings.It included a two-story General Store, which was "the center of businesses operated by Lewis. It is covered in a large gable roof with horizontal siding and is surrounded by large deciduous and omamental trees. Two 1-story rental houses are south of the General Store. These are the last of four houses that continued to the intersection of 34th and Courtland Streets. Each house is noted by a metal gable roof and inset porches in a basic shotgun form with bungalow features."It was deemed significant as "a significant example of independent businesses operated by African Americans in Independence Heights. They are also representative of local commerce and ethnic heritage."

Northline Mall was a shopping mall in the Northline area of Houston, Texas, United States, at the northeast corner of Interstate 45, and Crosstimbers Road. It is the new location of Northline Commons.

The Independence Heights Residential Historic District is a 70 acres (28 ha) historic district in the Independence Heights neighborhood of Houston, Texas which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.The district is roughly bounded by N. Yale St. on the west, E. 34th St. on the north, N. Columbia St. on the east, and the I-610 on the south. It included 125 contributing buildings.

Booker T. Washington High School (nicknamed "Booker T.") is a secondary school located in the Independence Heights community in Houston, Texas. Washington serves grades 9 through 12, and is a part of the Houston Independent School District. The school has a neighborhood program that serves neighborhoods outside the 610 Loop and inside Beltway 8 in the northwest part of Houston, including the neighborhoods of Independence Heights, Highland Heights, and most of Acres Homes. The school was named after education pioneer Booker T. Washington. The High School For Engineering Professions is located on the campus.

Northline Transit Center/HCC station is a station on METRORail Red Line in Houston. It is the northern terminus of the Red Line. It services the Northline Transit Center, located on the west side of the street and the Houston Community College Northline Campus. Outside of weekdays, it is the busiest station on the Red Line.

North Houston Early College High School (NHECHS) is a secondary charter school located at 8001 Fulton St. Building C in Northside Houston, Texas, United States. The school is operated by the Houston Independent School District in association with the Houston Community College System-Northeast Campus. The school is located next to the HCC Northline building of the HCC-Northeast Campus.The school used to be housed in portable buildings from 2008 to 2016. Then, in the school year starting in 2016, the school opened their doors to their new three-story building on the Houston Community College campus.
