Reykjavík University (RU; Icelandic: Háskólinn í Reykjavík) is the largest private university in Iceland with approximately 3,300 students (October 2020). It is chartered by the Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Icelandic Industries, and the Confederation of Icelandic Employers. It should not be confused with the University of Iceland which is also located in Reykjavík. The university consists of seven academic departments in two schools. Within the School of Social Sciences are: the Department of Law, Department of Business Administration, Department of Sport Science and Department of Psychology. Within the School of Technology are the Department of Computer Science, Department of Engineering and Department of Applied Engineering. The university is bilingual (English and Icelandic).

The Iceland School of Energy (ISE; Icelandic: Islenski Orkuhaskólinn) is an international graduate school within the Department of Engineering at Reykjavik University, the largest private university in Iceland. ISE is jointly owned by Reykjavik Energy, Reykjavik University, and Iceland GeoSurvey, and specialises in the fields of Sustainable Energy and Electric Power.

Hof Ásatrúarfélagsins is a religious building under construction in Reykjavík, Iceland. When finished it will be used by the Heathen organization Ásatrúarfélagið for religious ceremonies, concerts, exhibitions and administrative work. It is Iceland's first major hof to the Norse gods since the Viking Age. It is located on the southern slope of the hill Öskjuhlíð, close to Reykjavík University. The project has been under development since 2005, but has been delayed several times because of the 2008–2011 Icelandic financial crisis and problems with the design. It has been under construction since 2015. As of 2022, the building's office part was operational but the social part was still unfinished.

Öskjuhlíð (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈœscʏˌl̥iːθ]) is a hill in the centre of Reykjavík, Iceland. It is 61 metres (200 ft) above sea level. The hill is a designated outdoors area and is covered with trees. At the top of the hill stands Perlan, a landmark building set on top of six water tanks. It is a city landmark built during Davíð Oddsson's period as mayor. During the Second World War the United States Army occupation force built various bunkers on the hill. Hof Ásatrúarfélagsins, a neopagan building, is being built on the southern slope of the hill.

Perlan (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈpʰɛrtlan]; English: The Pearl) is a prominent landmark in the Icelandic capital of Reykjavík. It is situated on the top of Öskjuhlíð hill. It was originally only a cluster of hot water tanks, but in 1991 it was converted to a building open to the public, and now hosts an exhibition, a planetarium, an observation deck, a restaurant, and a cafe.

Hlíðarendi (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈl̥iːðarˌɛntɪ]) is a multi-purpose stadium in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is the home-court of Valur's football, basketball and handball teams. The football stadium holds 2,465 people, including 1,201 in seats. The indoor court holds 1,300 people in seats.The stadium broke ground in 2004 and the indoor stadium was formerly opened on 7 September 2007 while the outdoor football stadium was formerly opened on 25 May 2008. It bore the name of Vodafone from 2007 until 2015. In June 2018 the club signed a five-year sponsorship deal with Origo which saw the football stadium being renamed Origovöllurinn and the handball/basketball stadium being renamed Origo-höllin (Origo arena).

The Capital Region (Icelandic: Höfuðborgarsvæðið [ˈhœːvʏðˌpɔrkarˌsvaiːðɪθ]) is a region in southwestern Iceland that comprises the national capital Reykjavík and six municipalities around it. Each municipality has its own elected council. Municipal governments in the region cooperate extensively in various fields: for example waste policy, shared public transport and a joint fire brigade. The region is home to 64% of Iceland's population. The region contains Icelands far largest urban area, Greater Reykjavík (Icelandic: Stór-Reykjavík), a conurbation that includes parts of six out of seven municipalities of the region (Kjósarhreppur is all rural).

Royal Air Force Station Reykjavik or more simply RAF Reykjavik is a former Royal Air Force station, at Reykjavík Airport, Iceland.

Hlíðar (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈl̥iːðar̥]) or Hlíðahverfi [ˈl̥iːðaˌkʰvɛrvɪ] is a sub-municipal administrational district within Reykjavík, Iceland. It includes six neighbourhoods: Hlíðar proper, Norðurmýri [ˈnɔrðʏrˌmiːrɪ], Holt [ˈhɔl̥t], Hlemmur [ˈl̥ɛmmʏr̥], Suðurhlíðar [ˈsʏːðʏrˌl̥iːðar̥] and Öskjuhlíð [ˈœscʏˌl̥iːθ].

The Landspítali – The National University Hospital of Iceland (Icelandic: Landspítali – Háskólasjúkrahús) offers a wide range of clinical services in outpatient clinics, day patient units, inpatient wards, clinical laboratories and other divisions. Landspítalinn also operates the psychiatric hospital Kleppur.

Kópavogskirkja (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈkʰouːpaˌvɔksˌcʰɪr̥ca]) is a church in Kópavogur, Iceland. It is located on Borgarholt hill at the top of Kársnes and offers a great view over Kópavogur, Reykjavík and surrounding area.Work on it began in 1958 and it was opened on December 16, 1963. The architectural style of Kópavogskirkja is modernist. Its architecture is unusual, it is the cross section of two wide arches. A curved arch protrudes in each direction with smaller arches extending below. Its profile is prominent in the Kópavogur town seal. Architect Hörður Bjarnason together with Ragnar Emilsson designed this church. The church attracts the attention of both Icelanders and foreign tourists. The altarpiece in the church was set up in 1990 and is by artist Steinunni Þórarinsdóttir. Artist Barbara Árnason (1911–1975) designed various pictures that are in the church. Sculptor Gerður Helgadóttir (1928–1975) designed a sculptor.

Kórinn (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈkʰouːrɪn]) is an indoor multipurpose auditorium located in Kópavogur and built in 2007. It includes an indoor football stadium which meets all the international standards set by the International Football Association FIFA. The auditorium covers an area of 14,457 m2 and has a seating capacity of 2000 spectators plus an additional 50 honor places. The auditorium is designed to accommodate concert acoustics and has a total standing capacity of up to 19,000 visitors. Canadian recording artist, singer-songwriter Justin Bieber performed 2 sold-out shows at the arena on September 8 and 9, 2016 as a part of his Purpose World Tour.
