Cill Na Martra GFC

Kilnamartyra (Irish: Cill na Martra [ˌciːl̠ʲ n̪ˠə ˈmˠaɾˠt̪ˠəɾˠə], meaning church of the martyr or church of the relic) is a village and civil parish in County Cork, Ireland. It is located around half-way between Killarney and Macroom. The parish is a kilometre from the L3402 local road which joins the N22 road, three kilometres away. Historically its townlands were part of the barony of Muskerry West. The local national school is called Scoil Lachtain Naofa. It is a gaelscoil and is named after Saint Lachtain, the patron saint of Cill na Martra. Other amenities in the village include a GAA pitch and two pubs.

Carrigaphooca Castle (Irish: Caisleán Charraig a' Phúca meaning "castle on the rock of the fairy"; the word púca translates as ghost or fairy) is a ruined five storey rectangular tower house situated on a steep-sided rock overlooking the River Sullane. It is located 6 km west of Macroom, County Cork, Ireland, in an area once known as Gleann na n-Dearg ("valley of the reds"). The tower dominates the landscape of Lissacresig (Fairyland) in Clondrohid, and Lower Shanballyshane, in Kilnamartyra. Carrigaphooca is made of sandstone and limestone and was built as a defensive tower by the MacCarthys of Muskerry in the early 15th century.Carrigaphooca is positioned in an area rich with neolithic monuments; Carrigaphooca Stone Circle lies two fields to the east, with a large standing stone (gallán) to the west. The tower is located on private property, and is no longer accessible to the public, although it is owned by the state and maintained by the Office of Public Works.

Carrigaphooca Stone Circle is a stone circle and National Monument located in County Cork, Ireland. It is situated 4.4 km (2.7 mi) west of Macroom, immediately east of Carrigaphooca Castle, north of the N22, and near the confluence of the River Sullane and River Foherish. The name means "stone of the púca" (ghost or fairy).There were five stones: four standing and one inclined, but now only three remain. The circle's diameter was approximately 5.5 m (18 ft).

Clondrohid (Irish: Cluain Droichead, meaning 'meadow of the bridge') is a village and civil parish in County Cork, Ireland, four miles (6 km) north of Macroom. As of the 2022 census, the population of the village was recorded as 180, down slightly from 188 people as of the 2011 census.

Inchigeelagh (Irish: Inse Geimhleach, meaning 'island of the prisoner or hostages') is a small village, townland and civil parish in County Cork, Ireland. The village is just outside a Gaeltacht area. Inchigeelagh is part of the Dáil constituency of Cork North-West. The River Lee passes through the village. The nearby 'pater noster' string of lakes collectively known as Lough Allua were once popular with anglers and are now fished for large pike, perch and some brown trout. The decline of fishing has coincided with the loss of salmon on the River Lee following the erection of the Carrigadrohid and Inniscarra hydroelectric dams down-river between 1952 and 1957. This led to the subsequent decline in the fortunes of the village as a location for angling.A hotel was built in 1810 to serve the horse-drawn coaches of tourists travelling the Prince of Wales route to Kenmare and Killarney. It operated as The Lake Hotel (though it never had a view of the lake) until it closed in 2014. Another hotel was built across the street as Corcoran's Hotel but it became Creedon's Hotel and is now run by the fourth generation of the Creedon family. Efforts have been made to campaign for works to be done on the two dams that prevent salmon from accessing the Lee river's upper reaches and a 2015 documentary, titled River Runner, publicised the issues of the river.Inchigeelagh was the meeting place for the Lyre Company Irish Volunteers, in April 1916, from where they intended to collect some of the rifles sent by Roger Casement on board the ship Aud for use in the 1916 Easter Rising. However, the ship was captured by the British Navy before it could deliver the arms.

Kilmichael (Irish: Cill Mhichíl) is a village and civil parish in the barony of West Muskerry, County Cork, Ireland. Kilmichael P.O. is located on an early map (1897-1913) at the Cooldorragha Cross Roads. Kilmicheal is part of the Cork North-West (Dáil constituency).

Carriganima or Carriganimmy (Irish: Carraig an Ime) is a village in the Barony of Muskerry, County Cork, Ireland, situated approximately 11 km northwest of Macroom and 10 km south of Millstreet. The village lies in a valley between the Boggeragh and Derrynasaggart mountain ranges. Local townlands include Carriganima (Carraig an Ime), Knockraheen (Cnoc Raithín), Cusloura (Cois Labhra), Glendav (Gleann Daimh), Glantane East & West (Gleanntán) and Moanflugh (An Muine Fliuch). The townlands of Glendav (Gleann Daimh), Lisscarrigane (Lios Carragáin), and Labbadermody (Leaba Dhiarmada) are included in the Muskerry Gaeltacht (Gaeltacht Mhúscraí). Carriganimmy is within the Cork North-West Dáil constituency.

The Kilmichael ambush (Irish: Luíochán Chill Mhichíl) was an ambush near the village of Kilmichael in County Cork on 28 November 1920 carried out by the Irish Republican Army (IRA) during the Irish War of Independence. Thirty-six local IRA volunteers commanded by Tom Barry killed sixteen members of the Royal Irish Constabulary's Auxiliary Division. The Kilmichael ambush was politically as well as militarily significant. It occurred one week after Bloody Sunday and marked an escalation in the IRA's campaign.

Macroom GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling club based in the town and surrounding parish of Macroom in Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated with Cork GAA county board and the Muskerry GAA divisional board. The club has been one of the most successful Gaelic football clubs in Cork having won the Cork Senior Football Championship ten times and having contributed numerous players to Cork GAA football teams.

Lough Allua (Irish: Locha Lua) is a freshwater lake in County Cork with an area of 1.36 km² located beside Inchigeelagh and forms part of the River Lee.
