Queen's Theological College

Queen's University at Kingston, commonly known as Queen's University or simply Queen's, is a public research university in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Queen's holds more than 1,400 hectares (3,500 acres) of land throughout Ontario and owns Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex, England. Queen's is organized into eight faculties and schools. The Church of Scotland established Queen's College in October 1841 via a royal charter from Queen Victoria. The first classes, intended to prepare students for the ministry, were held 7 March 1842, with 13 students and two professors. In 1869, Queen's was the first Canadian university west of the Maritime provinces to admit women. In 1883, a women's college for medical education affiliated with Queen's University was established after male staff and students reacted with hostility to the admission of women to the university's medical classes. In 1912, Queen's ended its affiliation with the Presbyterian Church, and adopted its present name. During the mid-20th century, the university established several faculties and schools, and expanded its campus with the construction of new facilities. Queen's is a co-educational university with more than 33,842 students and over 131,000 alumni living worldwide. Notable alumni include government officials, academics, business leaders and 57 Rhodes Scholars. As of 2022, five Nobel Laureates and one Turing Award winner have been affiliated with the university.

Grant Hall is a landmark on the campus of Queen's University at Kingston in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. The building was completed in 1905. It is located on University Avenue, just north of Bader Lane. The building is named in honour of Principal George Monro Grant. It regularly is used as a symbol of the university. Many ceremonial events, plays, and concerts take place in Grant Hall. Classes rarely take place in the hall but due to the large, open space, exams sometimes are scheduled. All university convocation is done in Grant Hall.

The Agnes Etherington Art Centre is located in Kingston, Ontario, in the heart of the historic campus of Queen's University. Situated on traditional Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee Territory, the gallery has received a number of awards for its exhibitions from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Association of Art Galleries and others.

The Queen's University Faculty of Law is a professional faculty of Queen's University at Kingston in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. According to the 2013 Maclean's Magazine Law School Rankings, Queen’s is tied for third among law schools in Canada.While the tradition of legal education at Queen's University heralds back nearly 150 years in 1861, the law school as it currently exists was officially established in 1957. Past and current professors at Queen's such as William Lederman, Toni Pickard, Gary Trotter, Allan Manson, Nick Bala and Don Stuart are routinely cited in Supreme Court of Canada and other appellate decisions. As consultants, advisors, and project directors, Queen's Law professors have made substantial contributions to various provincial and national law commissions, as well as national and international organizations. Queen's Law School is housed in Sir John A. Maconald Hall. The building was inaugurated by Prime Minister John G. Diefenbaker in 1960, and was completely renovated in 2003. It houses the William R. Lederman Law Library, named after the former dean and respected scholar, which contains over 150,000 legal volumes.

The Bracken Health Sciences Library at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, occupies two floors of Botterell Hall. It offers complete library services and its staff are committed to excellent user service. The library is open 100 hours per week, with extended exam-study hours towards the end of the semester. Bracken Health Sciences Library is known for its teaching activities, which include a complete curriculum-integrated information literacy program for medical students and a dedicated e-lab equipped with television monitors, computer projectors, and laptop computers. The courses in this program span all four years of the medical curriculum, and are taught by Bracken librarians. Bracken Health Sciences Library has networked access to a suite of health sciences databases, including MEDLINE and Evidence-Based Medicine Reviews. Other user services include highly subsidized document delivery for material not available in Kingston, and traditional and electronic reference services. In addition to print journals and books, the library offers around-the-clock electronic access to a large array of full-text journals and books.

Joseph S. Stauffer Library or Stauffer is the main social science and humanities library of Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Construction was completed in 1994 at a cost of C$42 million, funded partially by the Ontario government and the Joseph S. Stauffer Foundation. The library is the largest building on the university campus, with Postmodern architecture referencing the Neo-Gothic style by architecture firm Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects (KPMB). It won the 1997 Governor General's Award for Architecture. Smith School of Business (formerly Queen's School of Business) is a business school affiliated with Queen's University at Kingston. It is located at the university's Goodes Hall. Since July 2021, the school's dean has been Wanda Costen. The School awards Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Executive MBA (EMBA), Accelerated MBA (AMBA), Master of Science in Management, (MSc) Master of Finance (MFin), Master of International Business (MIB), Master of Management Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MMIE), Master of Management in Artificial Intelligence (MMAI), Master of Management Analytics (MMA), Master of Digital Product Management (MDPM) and Ph.D. in Management degrees, as well as graduate diplomas in business (GDB)and accounting (GDA). The School also offers the Smith-Peking Double Degree in partnership with the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University and the Executive MBA Americas in partnership with the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. Smith School of Business is fully accredited by the AACSB (United States) and the EFMD (EQUIS) (Europe).

CKVI-FM is a Canadian community radio station, owned and operated by Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute in Kingston, Ontario. The station broadcasts at 91.9 on the FM dial, and uses the on-air brand The Cave. CKVI was the first high school radio station to be granted a broadcasting license by the CRTC. CKVI now broadcasts up to 52 hours a week. Its programming includes multiple styles, cultures, and genres of music.

The Queen's School of Medicine is a unit of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen's University at Kingston responsible for research, as well as undergraduate and graduate education in Medicine. The educational program leading to the MD degree is central to the purpose of the faculty. It must meet all the requirements for accreditation and prepare graduates for postgraduate training leading to licensure and certification by the Ontario College of Family Physicians or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. Each year, over 5,000 students apply and 100 are admitted into the first year medicine program. Candidates are selected based on their MCAT performance, GPA, autobiographical sketch, and interview.

Murney Tower is a Martello tower in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, whose construction dates to January 1846. The Tower was built in response to the Oregon Crisis, which was a tense dispute over the border between British North America and the United States in the 1840s. The tower is one of five components of Kingston's fortifications that defended Kingston Harbour, the Naval Dockyard, military supply depot and the southern entrance of the Rideau Canal. Murney Tower complements the fortifications of Fort Henry, Ontario, Cathcart Tower on Cedar Island, Shoal Tower in the Confederation Basin and Fort Frederick on the grounds of the Royal Military College of Canada. In addition to protecting the harbour and approaches to Kingston, these fortifications were designed to concentrate fire on Gardiners Island; it being the only place to effectively land artillery at the time.

The University District is a neighbourhood in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It encompasses and surrounds Queen's University and is largely inhabited by students and employees of the university. The area is officially bound by Victoria Street to the west, Princess Street to the north, Division & Barrie Street to the east, and King Street to the south.The University District is characterized as one of the most diverse, walkable and lively neighbourhoods in the City of Kingston. Within its borders, Queen's University offers publicly accessible athletic facilities, art galleries, museums and libraries. The District also contains other institutions such as KCVI, Kingston General Hospital, and many local businesses. The density of rental housing for students in the area coupled with its very close proximity to the university makes its existence a pull factor for prospective students who are considering attending Queen's.

The Frontenac County Court House in Kingston, Ontario, Canada is the Courthouse for Frontenac County, Ontario. The Neoclassical building was designed by Edward Horsey and constructed by builders Scobell and Tossell. Alternation after 1874 fire by John Power added the dome tower. It overlooks City Park to its south, and Lake Ontario beyond. The front of the structure features the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom. The building is made from limestone.The building is located north of Court Street, between Barrie Street and West Street, directly north-east from Queen's Campus. To its north is located Sydenham Public School, and to its south (south of Court Street) is a park with sports fields directly east of Queen's.
