Marlboro High School

The Old Brick Reformed Church began in Marlboro Township, New Jersey c.1699. Most of the original families of the church originally came from Long Island. Originally the services were conducted in Dutch by Ministers who came from Brooklyn on a rotating schedule. The rotating schedule continued for a number of years until the Marlboro Reformed Dutch Church formed in 1709, originally as the "Freehold and Middletown United Church," with Reverend Joseph Morgan as the first pastor. The Dutch language was continued until 1764. The first congregation church was located near "Hendrickson's Hill" in the old village of Marlboro. The current church and burial ground is located on Route 520; it was begun in 1731 but in 1826 was considered too small and was replaced. In 1869, the congregation constructed a chapel in the village of Marlboro. That building was sold in 1969. During a consistory meeting, the current pastor, Reverend George Kaden, announced he had submitted his retirement papers with the denomination and would be leaving the pulpit June 2021.

Bradevelt is an unincorporated community located within the Morganville section of Marlboro Township, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. County Route 520 travels through Bradevelt, while Route 79 is located west of the community. The area consists of a mix of businesses along the two main roads, farmland, and the remains of the Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital which is being converted to Big Brook Park. The former Monmouth County Agricultural Railroad (a portion of which is now part of the Henry Hudson Trail) runs north and south through Bradevelt. Early to mid 1800s the area was called Hulsetown.

Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital was a public hospital in Marlboro Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States, which was operated by the State of New Jersey. Construction of the hospital began in 1929. It first opened in early 1931, with Dr. J.B. Gordon as medical director. According to the site plan, the hospital's campus was on 468 acres (189 ha). A perimeter fence completely enclosed the property. The land was mostly a rural environment. When it closed, the hospital was on 594 acres (240 ha), having enlarged the grounds over the years. It opened with a capacity to accommodate 500-800 patients. The grounds construction continued after opening and when completed, the hospital was expected to have a capacity of 2,000 patients. However, in 1995, the hospital served an average of 780 adults per day with a staff of 1,157 employees and a total budget of $55.5 million (fiscal year 1995). The budget in 1998 was $68 million. The facility was closed July 1, 1998. The hospital finished complete demolition of the structures, tunnels, roads and other infrastructure in early 2015.

Marlboro is an unincorporated community located within Marlboro Township in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States.The settlement is located along Route 79 north of its interchange with Route 18.Marlboro was likely named for its early use of marl as a fertilizer.By 1873, Marlboro had a post office, school, hotel, multiple stores, churches, and a railroad station of the Freehold and Keyport Railroad. In 1882, the population was 102.Marlboro was described in 1939 as having "large frame houses comfortably spaced along the highway".: 555 

The Old Scots Burying Ground is a historic cemetery located on Gordon's Corner Road in the Wickatunk section of Marlboro Township, in Monmouth County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 15, 2001, for its significance in history and religion. The Old Scots Burying Ground is about an acre in size, about 195 feet above sea level and dates back to 1685. The total number of burials at the cemetery is not precisely known, suggested by Symms, "There are a large number of graves in Old Scots yard without any inscribed stones". Some reports place the number as at least 100 known graves with most headstones of brown sandstone. However, more recent research using ground penetrating radar reported by the Old Tennent Church in 2001 has put the number of confirmed sites at about 122 graves with a possible 140 more unmarked; placing the number at about 262 total graves in the cemetery. In 1945, in an attempt to clean out the site of vegetation and over-growth, a bulldozer was used on the property and as a result some headstones were dislodged and broken stones removed. The defining structure in the cemetery is a tall monument to Rev. John Boyd, created by the J&R Lamb Company. Built to commemorate the first recorded Presbyterian ordination of Rev. John Boyd. The monument is currently owned by the Synod of the Northeast who holds the property deed but it is maintained by the Old Tennent Church. The last identified burial was in 1977.

Marlboro Township is a township in Monmouth County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The township is located within the Raritan Valley region and is a part of the New York Metropolitan Area. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 41,502, an increase of 1,311 (+3.3%) from the 2010 census count of 40,191, which in turn reflected an increase of 5,449 (+16.3%) from the 33,423 counted in the 2000 census.Marlboro Township was formed by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 17, 1848, from portions of Freehold Township. The township was named for the marl beds found in the area.

Wickatunk is an unincorporated community located within Marlboro Township in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. Elevation above sea level is 180 feet (55 m). It was founded in 1695 by three Scottish servants from the community of Toponemus (no longer in existence in Marlboro Township). Originally surveyed by George Keith, in a letter he states: "After some time I may give thee a particular account of all thy land I have surveyed for thee and what I reckon dew for it. John Laing and his family are well and lyke to do well, and so John Sym and his family. Also thou hast thy share laid out at Wickington (Wickatunk). After the initial settlement, the plan in the early 1700s called for a village center with small town lots surrounded by plantations. However, that plan was not workable as it did not allow for townspeople to have farming land.Research suggests the name derives from the Delaware (Algonquian) "wikwetung", meaning "the fishing place".

The Marlboro Township School District is a community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade in Marlboro Township in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States.As of the 2018–19 school year, the district, comprising eight schools, had an enrollment of 4,784 students and 440.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.9:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "I", the second-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.Most public students in ninth through twelfth grades from Marlboro Township attend Marlboro High School, which is part of the Freehold Regional High School District, with some Marlboro students attending Colts Neck High School. The district also serves students from Colts Neck Township, Englishtown, Farmingdale, Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Howell Township and Manalapan Township. Many Marlboro students attend the various Learning Centers and Academies available at other district high schools and students from other municipalities in the district attend Marlboro High School's Business Learning Center. As of the 2018–19 school year, Marlboro High School had an enrollment of 1,822 students and 127.2 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 14.3:1 and Colts Neck High School had an enrollment of 1,358 students and 94.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 14.4:1.

Hillsdale is an unincorporated community located within Colts Neck and Marlboro townships in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The community is located at the intersection of County Route 520 which runs east and west, Conover Road which heads north, and Boundary Road which heads south. The southeastern quadrant of this intersection is a part of Colts Neck while the other three are in Marlboro. The community is located atop a small hill and is largely rural. The Colts Neck quadrant is made up of a housing development while the Marlboro side is mostly forests, parkland, and the remains of the Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital.

Marlboro Jewish Center (Congregation Ohev Shalom), in Marlboro, New Jersey, is a Conservative Jewish synagogue. It has been opened since 1970. Current spiritual leaders are Rabbi Michael Pont and Cantor Michelle Teplitz. This congregation has contributed to the community as a top USY chapter in all of New Jersey.

Four JG's Orchards & Vineyards is a winery in Colts Neck in Monmouth County, New Jersey. The vineyard was first planted in 1999, and opened to the public in 2004. Four JG's has 40 acres of grapes under cultivation, and produces 2,500 cases of wine per year. The winery is named after the four family members that own it, all of whom have the initials "JG."

Collier High School is a private, nonsectarian high school located in the Wickatunk section of Marlboro Township, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The school serves students with emotional difficulties and other special needs. The house and property were given to the Sisters of the Good Shepherd with the express purpose to create a residential program for girls with problem situations. The school was transferred to the sisters in 1927 by Sara Steward Collier-Van Allen. Although privately operated by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, the school receives a portion of its funding from public school districts which pay tuition for their students to be placed at Collier High School. As of the 2015–16 school year, the school had an enrollment of 181 students and 47.3 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 3.8:1. The school's student body was 79.6% White, 8.3% Hispanic, 6.1% Black, 3.3% Native Hawaiian / Pacific Islander, 1.1% Asian and 1.7% two or more races.
