Governors Bay

Ohinetahi (Māori: Ōhinetahi: "The Place of One Daughter") is a valley, historic homestead, and formal garden on Teddington Road, Governors Bay, Christchurch, Canterbury region, New Zealand. Ohinetahi valley is situated at the head of Lyttelton Harbour, at the base of the Port Hills. While the Ohinetahi Homestead is considered to be a significant historic building in the small settlement of Governors Bay, the formal garden of Ohinetahi is considered to be one of New Zealand's finest. Amongst the early owners of Ohinetahi were Canterbury pioneer William Sefton Moorhouse and Thomas Potts, New Zealand's first conservationist. Sir Miles Warren, architect of the Christchurch Town Hall, was the last private owner, and gifted it to New Zealand.

The Sign of the Kiwi, originally called Toll House, is a small café and shop at Dyers Pass on the road between Christchurch and Governors Bay. It was built in 1916–17 by Harry Ell as a staging post and opened as a tearoom and rest house. It has a Category I heritage classification by Heritage New Zealand and is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. The building was closed some time after the 22 February 2011 Christchurch earthquake and did not open again until 23 January 2017, six years later. Although located within the burned area, the building was not damaged by the 2017 Port Hills fires a month later.

Marleys Hill is a hill in the Port Hills above Christchurch, New Zealand. It is a short distance south-west of Sugarloaf, and is taller than it by a few metres. The hilltop is the location of several radio repeater stations, including the primary amateur radio repeater for Christchurch. On the north side of the hill is the Christchurch Adventure Park. The hill was subjected to significant damage in both the 2017 Port Hills fires and the later 2024 Port Hills fire.

ZM Christchurch (previously 3ZM, Radio Nova, ZMFM and 91ZM) is a hit music radio station in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is a station of the ZM network, and is owned and operated by New Zealand Media and Entertainment.

Sugarloaf (Māori: Te Heru o Kahukura) is a landmark in the Port Hills to the south of the city of Christchurch in New Zealand. The Māori part of the name means the headcomb of Kahukura. The Sugarloaf communications tower is an iconic radio and television transmission mast located on top of the hill.

C93FM was a New Zealand radio station based in Christchurch. C93FM broadcast on 92.9 FM and, after it merged with Radio Avon, also broadcast on 1260 AM. C93FM has had several music formats during its time on the air. In 1989 the station was rebranded as 93FM Gold and in 1990 93FM Classic Hits. Then in 1991 the station reverted to C93FM with a new logo and playing classic rock and continued to play classic rock until 1999 when the station was changed to an Adult Contemporary music format. Originally C93FM was an independent station operated by a company of the same name, C93FM Limited. The company also operated a second station Easy Listening i94.5 until 1997. The Radio Network made two attempts to purchase C93FM Limited, in March and May 1997; both were rejected by the Commerce Commission on the basis that they would give the company a dominant position in the Christchurch radio market. Instead, C93FM and Easy Listening I were sold to Radio Otago. Easy Listening i94 became Lite FM in 1998. Following the sale of C93FM Limited to Radio Otago, C93FM was started in Dunedin by rebranding local rock station 93Rox as C93FM. The Dunedin-based C93FM was then networked to Invercargill on 90.8FM and was originally branded as C91FM. On air the announcers simply called the station "Classic Rock." Later in 1998 C91FM in Invercargill became known as C93FM. In 1999 Radio Otago was sold to the Radioworks and in Invercargill and Dunedin C93FM was replaced with network station The Rock. The Rock was also networked into Christchurch at the same time broadcasting on 93.7FM and as a result the format of C93FM was changed to an Adult Contemporary format. Also, the original 1260AM frequency used by C93 was replaced with Solid Gold as there were no other FM frequencies for Solid Gold to broadcast on at the time. The changes made to C93FM were not popular, and the station failed to attract new listeners as a result. C93FM went off the air in April 2001 and the 92.9FM frequency was taken over by Solid Gold, which later became The Sound in 2012, changing back to a classic rock format. Solid Gold also kept the 1260AM frequency until 2005 when it was used by Radio Pacific.

Lite FM was a New Zealand radio station broadcasting in Christchurch on 94.5FM. The station was first started in 1997 by Radio Otago in Dunedin on 90.2 FM, the programme was also networked to Invercargill on 98.0 FM. Programming on the station at this point was mostly voice tracked and on air the station was often called "The Lite FM Network." In 1998 Lite FM began broadcasting in Christchurch when Radio Otago rebranded Easy Listening i94 as Lite FM. Easy Listening i94 was first started in Christchurch in 1994 by C93FM Limited under a franchise agreement with Easy Listening i, Radio Otago purchased C93FM Limited in 1997. In 1999 Radio Otago was sold to The RadioWorks and the Invercargill and Dunedin stations were replaced with network station Solid Gold. Lite FM continued to broadcast in Christchuch and became part of Radioworks collection of local stations known as LocalWorks. The station played easy-listening music from the 1970s to present day. The station was rebranded and replaced by The Breeze in 2004 when Radioworks decided to rebrand all their local Easy Listening stations as The Breeze. Today The Breeze in Christchurch remains a live and local station despite other The Breeze stations having their local shows replaced with Auckland-based network shows, However the night show now comes from Auckland.

The Ecumenical Institute for Distance Theological Studies (EIDTS) was a Christian theological college located in New Zealand.

Ōrongomai / Cass Peak is a hill in the western Port Hills in Christchurch, New Zealand. Its most notable feature is a radar dome that was built on the peak in the late 1980s, which is used for aircraft positioning services.

Kennedy's Bush Scenic Reserve is a public conservation reserve in the Port Hills south of Christchurch, New Zealand. It sits above the suburb of Kennedys Bush on the northern side of the hills, just north of Ōrongomai / Cass Peak. The reserve is covered in dense native bush, and at 130 hectares (320 acres) it is the largest remaining patch of native bush on the Port Hills.

Christchurch Adventure Park is an adventure park in the Port Hills of Christchurch, New Zealand. Built by the Canadian company Select Evolution, it had its opening function on 16 December 2016. The 1500 holders of special passes could ride from 17 December, while the park opened to the public on 21 December. According to the developer, the 358 hectares (880 acres) park with a 1.8 kilometres (1.1 mi) chairlift and initially 50 kilometres (31 mi) of downhill tracks is the largest facility of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. The park closed on 13 February 2017 as a precaution due to a nearby fire and two days later, most of the park's tree cover had been destroyed in a large wildfire. The lift and ziplines have suffered significant damage, and the park's condition was much worse than the operator initially thought. The park reopened on 6 December 2017, ten months after it shut.
