The Belknap Stone House in Newburgh, New York, was built by Abel Belknap in the 1750s. Abel Belknap chaired the local Committee of Safety during the war, and when the Continental Army was encamped in the Newburgh area in 1782–83, the house served as James Clinton's headquarters in the area. Today it has been restored and operates as Stone Cottage Veterinary Clinic. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Newburgh Colored Burial Ground is a historic cemetery and national historic district located at Newburgh in Orange County, New York. The district consists of an archaeological site for a 19th-century burial ground containing approximately 100 graves located on the west and northwest sides of the Newburgh City Courthouse, possibly extending under adjacent Robinson Avenue. The cemetery was active between about 1832 and 1867.In 1908, a school building was built on top of the cemetery, apparently without removing the graves or remains of those interred there. In 2008, renovations at the Broadway School unearthed the remains of 105 individuals. Six sets of remains were left on-site, while the other 99 were taken into custody of the State University of New York at New Paltz. The Broadway School building is now the City of Newburg Courthouse. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.In 2022, the City Council of Newburgh agreed to develop a memorial park in Downing Park.

New Windsor is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of New Windsor in Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 8,882 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the larger New York–Newark–Bridgeport, NY-NJ-CT-PA Combined Statistical Area.

Walsh-Havemeyer House, also known as the Plympton House, is a historic home located at New Windsor in Orange County, New York. It was built about 1835 and subsequently expanded and modified. The house consists of a two-story brick main block with two-story brick wing. The interior retains a number of notable Greek Revival treatments dating to the period of original construction. Also on the property is a frame privy and cast-iron fence.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Newburgh Free Academy (NFA) is the public high school educating all students in grades 9–12 in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, which serves the city of Newburgh, New York, the towns of Newburgh and New Windsor, and portions of the towns of Marlboro, New York, Cornwall, New York and various others. It traces its history back over two centuries, to the years prior to mandatory public education.

The John Haskell House, also known as the Hermitage, was a historic home located in New Windsor, Orange County, New York. It was built about 1726, and was a 2+1⁄2-story log dwelling with a rear ell. It had a gabled roof and large interior chimney at each end. Due to its construction, the Haskell House was considered one of the largest intact log mansions in the Thirteen Colonies.

St. George's Cemetery is a historic cemetery in Newburgh, New York. The cemetery is located in the city's East End Historic District and serves the Episcopal parish of St. George's on Grand Street.

Downing Park is the largest of several public parks in the city of Newburgh, New York, United States. The park was designed in the late 19th century by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, who gave the design to the city on the condition it would be named after their mentor, Andrew Jackson Downing, a Newburgh native who had died in a steamboat accident on the Hudson River in 1852.

New Windsor is a town in Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 27,805 at the 2020 census. It is located on the eastern side of the county and is adjacent to the Hudson River and the City of Newburgh.

The New York State Armory was built in 1880 on Broadway in Newburgh, New York, United States. Designed by John A. Wood, it housed a local unit of the New York National Guard. In the 1930s the Guard moved to a newer armory on South William Street and the old building fell vacant and became property of the city. It was nearly gutted by fire in the 1970s but remained standing, an eyesore in Newburgh's Lower Broadway area.In 1981 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places, which helped prevent its demolition. It also became one of over 2,000 contributing properties to the East End Historic District when that was added to the Register four years later. Nothing was done to refurbish it until the late 1990s, when the city sold it to Orange County for a dollar and the county's former courthouse. The county brought in Robert Carchietta's Gemma Development to restore it. The project won the Commissioner's Annual Private Sector Achievement Award from Bernadette Castro, then-commissioner of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. The company spent $28,000 on a mahogany door for the building, which now houses the busy city office of the county's Social Services department, as well as its probation officers and the district attorney.

The East End Historic District in Newburgh, New York, United States is the lower portion of what the state and city recognize as a single historic district along with the Montgomery-Grand-Liberty Streets Historic District. Its 445 acres (2 km²) contain 2,217 buildings, including Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site, a National Historic Landmark. This area includes much of the southeastern quarter of the city. Most of the buildings were constructed during the city's height of industrial development in the later 19th century, as opposed to the villas and mansions in the Montgomery-Grand-Liberty district. They housed many of the city's working-class population at the time, and the small businesses that served them. First recognized by the city in 1973, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. Today, it is a mix of extremes. Some of its neighborhoods are among the city's most desirable, offering panoramic views of the Hudson River's Newburgh Bay and the Hudson Highlands to the south. It is also home to some of the city's poorest neighborhoods, and historic preservation groups have expressed concern about many important properties being lost to urban blight and neglect.
