WNCQ-FM (102.9 FM) is a radio station licensed to Canton, New York, United States. It airs a country music format. The station is owned by the Stephens Media Group. The station had been owned by Martz Communications Group, and was acquired by Stephens on February 1, 2008.

Brick Chapel Church and Cemetery is a historic Presbyterian church and cemetery located at Canton in St. Lawrence County, New York. The church was built in 1858 for the local Methodist congregation, who merged with the Presbyterians in the 1910s. It is a 40 feet by 56 feet brick structure resting on a raised ashlar limestone foundation. It features a large, square engaged bell tower on the front facade. Also on the property is a cemetery with burials dating to 1809. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

St. Lawrence University is a private liberal arts college in the village of Canton in St. Lawrence County, New York. It has roughly 2,100 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. Though St. Lawrence today is nonsectarian, it was founded in 1856 by leaders of the Universalist Church, who were seeking to establish a seminary west of New England and were enthusiastically courted by the citizens of Canton. The church almost did not place the school in Canton, however, as they felt students might be exposed to too much "excitement" within the village limits in 1856. The denomination, which has since merged with the Unitarian faith, was part of the liberal wing of Protestantism, championing such ideas as critical thinking and sex equality — attributes that surfaced in the new Theological School of St. Lawrence University, which was progressive in its teaching philosophy and coeducational from the beginning.

The Theological School of St. Lawrence University was founded in 1856 at St. Lawrence University. In 1858, there were four students. It closed in 1965, with the consolidation of the Universalist Church of America and the American Unitarian Association into the Unitarian Universalist Association. It was one of the three Universalist seminaries along with Crane Divinity School and Ryder Divinity School.

Appleton Arena is a 3,200-seat multi-purpose arena in Canton, New York. It is home to the St. Lawrence University Skating Saints ice hockey team. It was named for Judge Charles W. Appleton, class of 1897, the main benefactor of the arena as well as the riding center, which is named for his wife Elsa. Appleton Arena opened in January 1951. The Canton Community assisted with the construction of an adjacent outdoor rink previous to 1951. Appleton Arena was remodeled in the late 1970s and early 1980s to its current configuration. In 1999, the facade of the arena was renovated to allow for improved locker rooms (particularly for the growing women's program) and a larger lobby. Additionally, the playing surface was expanded to 85 feet by 200 feet, and a weight training facility was added. Aside from being home to the Skating Saints, the arena also hosts intramural hockey and broomball games, a figure skating club, and Canton Pee Wee Hockey. In addition to its athletic uses, the University has also utilized the arena for concerts and for an alternate, indoor location for graduation ceremonies.

The Old Campus Historic District is a national historic district on the campus of St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, United States. The district includes eight contributing buildings and two contributing objects. It encompasses the structures built before 1930 and includes Beta Theta Pi Temple (1925–26), Gunnison Memorial Chapel (1925–26), Carnegie Hall (1905–06), Hepburn Hall (1925), Sykes Residence for Men (1930), Memorial Hall (1909), Piskor Hall (1907–09), Payson Hall (1910–11), and Dean-Eaton Residence Hall (1926–27). Also in the district are the separately listed Richardson Hall (1855–56) and Herring-Cole Hall (1869–1902). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 as St. Lawrence University – Old Campus Historic District.

Richardson Hall, also known as College Building and Main Hall, is a historic institutional building at St. Lawrence University, Canton, in St. Lawrence County, New York. It is a three-story rectangular brick structure built on a high sandstone foundation. When constructed in 1855–1856, it housed the dining room, chapel, classrooms, and dormitory space. It was renovated in 1906 and 1962. It is located within the St. Lawrence University-Old Campus Historic District. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Herring–Cole Hall is a historic institutional building located at St. Lawrence University in Canton, St. Lawrence County, New York. It is a 1+1⁄2-story structure built of Potsdam sandstone. It was built in two stages and its T-shaped plan is due to the attachment of the Cole Reading Room (1902) at a right angle to the Herring Library (1869). It is located within the St. Lawrence University – Old Campus Historic District. Popular campus lore maintains that the building is haunted by one or more spirits or ghosts. The building plays host to the occasional séance for this reason, and is a favorite location for local meditation circles, though this stems from its acoustics, lighting, age, atmosphere, and isolation. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
