Tophane

Aianteion was a town of ancient Thrace, inhabited during Roman times.Its site is located near Salı pazar in European Turkey.

Nusretiye Mosque is an ornate mosque located in Tophane district of Beyoğlu, Istanbul, Turkey. While its architecture is influenced by Islamic elements, it retains a Baroque style, making it unique to the city. It was built in 1823-1826 by Sultan Mahmut II.

Nusretiye Clock Tower, aka Tophane Clock Tower, is a clock tower situated in Tophane, a neighborhood in Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, Turkey next to Nusretiye Mosque and Tophane Kiosk at the European waterfront of Bosphorus. It was ordered by the Ottoman sultan Abdülmecid I (1823–1861), designed by architect Garabet Amira Balyan and completed in 1848. Designed in neo-classical style, the four-sided, three-story clock tower is 15 m high. A tughra of Sultan Abdülmecid I is put on above the entrance. The original clock and the clock face are in a state of disrepair. The clock tower along with Nusretiye Mosque and the Tophane Kiosk survived the urban renewal and highway construction program of the mid-1950s. However, it remained within the customs warehouse area of Istanbul Port, cut off from the public access today.

Tophane Fountain (Turkish: Tophane Çeşmesi) is an 18th-century public water fountain built by Ottoman sultan Mahmud I in the Ottoman rococo architecture and situated in the square of Tophane neighborhood in Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, Turkey.

The Kılıç Ali Pasha Complex (Turkish: Kılıç Ali Paşa Külliyesi) is a mosque complex designed and built between 1580 and 1587 by Mimar Sinan, who at the time was in his 90s. The mosque itself was constructed in 1578-1580. The complex is located in the Tophane neighbourhood of the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, Turkey. It is named after Kılıç Ali Pasha. It consists of a mosque, a medrese, a hamam, a türbe, and a fountain. Originally, it had been on the coastline, but since the sea in front of it has been filled again, it is now surrounded by other buildings. The complex was built on the orders of the Kapudan-i Derya (Grand Admiral) Kılıç Ali Pasha. When the Pasha was told to build the complex on the sea for being the Chief Captain, he had the mosque built on the land reclaimed from the sea.

Galataport is a cruise ship port and mixed-use property currently (as of early 2021) under development in the Karaköy neighbourhood of Istanbul, Turkey. It is located on the European shore of the Bosporus strait, by its confluence with the Golden Horn.The project is a joint venture between Turkey's Doğuş Group and Bilgili Holding, who have between them invested over USD 1.8 billion into it.The development occupies 1,200 metres (3,900 ft) of city-centre shoreline, which was for many years fenced off and closed to the public.It will comprise 52,000 square metres (560,000 sq ft) of floor space for retail and restaurant use, and 42,000 square metres (450,000 sq ft) for offices, as well as a hotel operated by the Peninsula Group of Hong Kong. The plans also include two museums, and 14,000 square metres (150,000 sq ft) of leisure area for events.The 2,900 square metres (31,000 sq ft) cruise terminal will be located underground beneath the complex.Galataport was originally intended to open by mid-2020, but was delayed by complications including the COVID-19 pandemic as well as labour disputes. It began to open in August 2021.

The Orhan Kemal Literature Museum (Turkish: Orhan Kemal Müzesi) is a literary museum and archive in Istanbul, Turkey dedicated to Turkish literature, and named after novelist Orhan Kemal (1914–1970). Established with the support of Orhan Kemal Culture and Arts Center, the museum is situated in a five-story building in Cihangir neighborhood of Beyoglu. On display are photographs about his private life taken by Ara Güler, family photographs, original first edition of his books, his private letters, critics, articles and dissertations about his works. His study room contains his typewriter and many other personal belongings. His death mask is also exhibited in the museum. The building houses a bibliothek and a cafeteria for visitors.It is accessible by walking from Taksim Square, and is open from 9:00 to 18:00 local time except Sundays. Admission is free of charge.

The Saint Gregory the Illuminator Church of Galata (Western Armenian: Ղալաթայի Սուրբ Գրիգոր Լուսաւորիչ եկեղեցի, Ghalat’ayi Surp Krikor Lusavorich yegeghetsi; Turkish: Surp Krikor Lusavoriç Ermeni Kilisesi) is the oldest extant Armenian Apostolic church in Istanbul. It was built in the late 14th century, in the Genoan period, shortly before the fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans. Located in Galata (Karaköy), it is the city's only church built in the traditional style of the Armenian church architecture—namely with a dome with a conical roof.The Getronagan Armenian High School was established in 1886 next to the church.

The Museum of Innocence (Turkish: Masumiyet Müzesi) is a museum in a 19th-century house in Istanbul (Çukurcuma) created by novelist Orhan Pamuk as a companion to his novel The Museum of Innocence. The museum and the novel were created in tandem, centred on the stories of two Istanbul families. On 17 May 2014, the museum was announced as the winner of the 2014 European Museum of the Year Award.The narrative and the museum offer a glimpse into upper-class Istanbul life from the 1970s to the early 2000s. The novel details the story of Kemal, a wealthy Istanbulite who falls in love with his poorer cousin, Füsun, and the museum displays the artefacts of their love story. According to the museum website, the collection, which includes more than a thousand objects, presents what the novel's characters "used, wore, heard, saw, collected and dreamed of, all meticulously arranged in boxes and display cabinets."

Getronagan is an Armenian minority high school in the Karaköy district of Istanbul, Turkey, The school is attached to the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Church.
