Dunham Massey

Dunham Castle is an early medieval castle in Dunham Massey, Greater Manchester, England (grid reference SJ73428742).

The Dunham Massey Hall sundial is a lead sculpture depicting a kneeling Black man holding a sundial on his head. It was created during the early 18th century, and until 2020 stood outside Dunham Massey Hall, a stately home in Cheshire, England. Its subject matter attracted criticism and in 2020 the National Trust removed it amid the global wave of statue removals connected with the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. It is currently held in storage.

Dunham Massey Hall, usually known simply as Dunham Massey, is an English country house in the parish of Dunham Massey in the district of Trafford, near Altrincham, Greater Manchester. During World War I it was temporarily used as the Stamford Military Hospital. It was designated a Grade I listed building on 5 March 1959. It has been owned by the National Trust since the death of Roger Grey, 10th and last Earl of Stamford in 1976. Dunham Massey was re-built in the early 18th century by George Booth, 2nd Earl of Warrington. He had inherited an older mansion from his father, which was in a terrible state of repair. There were significant alterations, especially internally, at the start of the 20th century. It has historic formal gardens and a deer park. The park and gardens are listed Grade II* on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.

Dunham Town is a village in the civil parish of Dunham Massey in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. It was historically a part of Cheshire.

Little Bollington is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Little Bollington with Agden, in the Cheshire East district, in the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. The Bridgewater Canal runs through the western side and Dunham Park lies to the north east. The village is 2.5 miles (4.0 km) west of Altrincham, near the boundary with Greater Manchester, which here follows the River Bollin. At the 2011 census the parish has a population of 170. In place of a parish council, administration took place via a parish meeting.

Dunham W&SR railway station served Dunham Town between 1854 and closure in 1855.

Watch Hill Castle (also known as Yarwood Castle, Castle Hill, and Bowdon Watch) is a medieval motte-and-bailey on the boundary of Bowdon and Dunham Massey, Greater Manchester, England. It is a scheduled monument. The castle is located north of the River Bollin and south of a deep ravine (grid reference SJ74798598).

Agden is a former civil parish, now in the parish of Little Bollington with Agden, in the borough of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. It is near High Legh, and about 15 miles (24 km) south-west from Manchester City Centre. It is the site of Agden Hall. According to the 2001 census, the population of the civil parish was 146. Because the population is so small, it did not have a parish council, instead, relying on a parish meeting.

Dunham Massey railway station was a station in England, serving the Dunham Massey. The station opened in 1854 and closed in 1962.

Black Moss Covert Nature Reserve is a 2.1 hectare nature reserve in England managed by the Cheshire Wildlife Trust. It is a Site of Biological Importance and is located on Carrington Moss, two kilometres west of Altrincham town centre (grid reference SJ745889).

Dunham Massey POW Camp was a POW camp detaining German prisoners of war. It was located in the eastern corner of Dunham Massey Home Park in an area which by the 21st century had been repurposed as a golf course and housing. Initially constructed for US Army troops, in November 1944 it began its new use and by the end of the war it held approximately 6,000 prisoners in 220 buildings.

Millington is a former civil parish, now in the parishes of Millington and Rostherne and Little Bollington with Agden, in the Cheshire East district, in the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. The parish was 8 miles (13 km) from Warrington and 3 miles (5 km) from Altrincham. Its name is a "relic of Saxon clanship – the ton or town of the Millings". The parish is primarily agricultural, with a number of farms including Moss House Farm, Newhall Farm, Mereside Farm, Boothbank Farm and Stonedelph Farm. Millington has been recently described on Britain Streets as a "hamlet or isolated settlement in the inhabited countryside". Millington is situated within the market town Macclesfield. The M56 motorway was close to the parish, which allows travel into areas of Warrington and Manchester, 13 miles (21 km) and 14 miles (23 km) away respectively. In 2011 the parish had a population of 234.
