Sydenham Heritage Church

Sydenham is an inner suburb of Christchurch, New Zealand, two kilometres south of the city centre, on and around the city's main street, Colombo Street. It is a residential, retail and light industrial suburb.

On 26 December 2010 a Mw 4.7 earthquake occurred directly under the city centre of Christchurch, New Zealand, at a depth of 5 km (3.1 mi) or 4 km (2.5 mi). It caused "significant damage" to Christchurch and was part of the earthquake sequence beginning with the September 2010 Canterbury earthquake, and followed by the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. As the earthquake occurred on Boxing Day, it is commonly referred to as the Boxing Day earthquake. Businesses running their Boxing Day promotions at the time experienced lost revenues due to the earthquake, and responded by re-running Boxing Day sales on 12 February 2011.

Christchurch South Intermediate School is a school catering for students in Years 7 and 8 in Christchurch, New Zealand. Established in 1939, it is the second oldest intermediate school in the South Island and the third oldest in New Zealand. The school is located between the suburbs of Addington and Cashmere on what was the site of an old dairy farm and racing stables. It replaced the intermediate department of the Christchurch West High School in the 1930s. In 2012 work was completed replacing the old classrooms, which were built in 1939. These have been replaced with 4 'pods' consisting of 4 modern classrooms.

Waltham is an inner suburb of Christchurch, New Zealand, located approximately two kilometres south-east of the city centre. State Highway 76, part of Christchurch's ring road system, and known there as Brougham Street, runs through the suburb, as does the Lyttelton Line rail corridor. Approximate boundaries of the suburb are Waltham Road, Moorhouse Avenue, Ferry Road, Ensors Road, and the Heathcote River. Waltham was originally part of the Sydenham borough and was incorporated into the City of Christchurch in 1903 when the borough was ended. In the early 1980s local residents and the Christchurch city council tried to name the western part of the suburb, Charleston, between Ferry Road and Ensors Road. This was done to maintain the residential nature of the area against perceived industrial expansion. The attempt was partly successful and that area today is referred to as both Waltham and Charleston. Ao Tawhiti or Ao Tawhiti Unlimited Discovery (abbreviated "ATUD") is a state area school in Christchurch, New Zealand. It was established by the merging of two separate Christchurch inner city schools; the primary school Discovery 1 (unofficially Discovery or D1) and the secondary school Unlimited Paenga Tawhiti (better known as Unlimited or UPT for short). The school is one of eleven schools running under the "Designated Special Character" criteria of the Education Act 1989.Students are given the flexibility to pick from a variety of interchangeable classes and subjects to design their own customised learning programme, including working on individual projects as an alternative to total classroom learning. They also have the option to learn subjects which are not traditionally taught in New Zealand secondary schools, such as philosophy, video game design, DJing and music production.

Ara Institute of Canterbury, often simply referred to as Ara, is an institute of technology in Canterbury, New Zealand. It was formed in 2016 from the merger of Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT) and Aoraki Polytechnic. Ara specialises in applied tertiary training. Subject choices include business, engineering, architecture, nursing, creative arts, hospitality, computing, science, languages, outdoor education, and broadcasting. Programmes range from Level 1 to Level 9. The institute works closely with industry to ensure students have relevant skills for employment, and have a wide range of work placement opportunities. Each year around 14,000 students enrol at Ara, including many international students. Ara is internationally recognised and has one of the best English language training centres in New Zealand. Over 50 countries are represented among staff and students at Ara. On 1 April 2020, Ara was subsumed into New Zealand Institute of Skills & Technology alongside the 15 other Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (ITPs) in the country.

The Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT), formerly the Christchurch Technical College, was an institute of technology in Christchurch, New Zealand. It merged with Aoraki Polytechnic and became Ara Institute of Canterbury in 2016. CPIT provided full-time and part-time education in technologies and trades. It was the largest polytechnic and institute of technology in the South Island (25,000 students) and one of the leading institutions of its kind in the country. In New Zealand's ranking, the Performance Based Research Fund, based on the scientific output of all employees, CPIT ranked 4th among all institutes of technologies in New Zealand. It offered a comprehensive range of programmes, which covered almost all subject areas. CPIT specialised in Music Arts, Visual Art & Design, Nursing, Applied Management (Business), Engineering, Applied Science, Education, Information Technology, and Architecture. CPIT hosted New Zealand's only school for radio journalism and communication, the New Zealand School of Broadcasting. It had a student population from more than 50 countries.

The Odeon Theatre in Christchurch was the oldest masonry theatre in New Zealand, and one of only three remaining purpose-built 19th-century theatres in the country. The building has had different names over the years, and was put to many different uses. It was damaged beyond repair in the 22 February 2011 Christchurch earthquake and partially demolished in September 2012. The theatre was recognised as a Category I heritage building by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust, with registration number 3140. One of its most notable aspects was its use as a public meeting venue of Kate Sheppard during her women's suffrage campaign.

The Brooke Gifford Gallery was a dealer art gallery focusing on contemporary New Zealand art that opened in Otautahi Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand in 1975. It was run by Barbara Brooke and Judith Gifford and closed in 2011.

The Christchurch Bus Interchange is the bus station in the Christchurch Central City in New Zealand. Built as one of the 17 anchor projects identified in the Christchurch Central Recovery Plan, it opened in May 2015 after the previous Bus Exchange had been damaged in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake.

McKenzie & Willis facade is a building facade in Christchurch, New Zealand. The building was constructed in 1910 for a furniture retailer and continued to be used for furniture retail until the 2010 and 2011 Christchurch earthquakes occurred, which caused damage to the building. As a result, the building had to be demolished in 2015 but a facadism was performed and a new building complex was built behind the facade.

C1 Espresso is a café in Christchurch, New Zealand. It uses pneumatic tubes placed under the ceiling to transport food to the customers' tables at 140 kilometres per hour (87 mph). The tubes are also used to transport customer dockets to the kitchen.
