40th Street was a station on the now demolished BMT Fifth Avenue Line in Brooklyn, New York City. It was served by trains of the BMT Fifth Avenue Line. It had two tracks and one island platform. The station was built on October 1, 1893, and despite the name of the line was actually located on Third Avenue and 40th Street. It was the northernmost station on Third Street before the line shifted to the street that bore its name. The station had connections to four streetcar lines; The Church Avenue Line, 39th Street and Coney Island Line, 39th Street and Manhattan Beach Line, and 39th Street and Ulmer Park Line. The next stop to the north was 36th Street. The next stop to the south was 46th Street. The station closed on May 31, 1940.

Industry City (also Bush Terminal) is a historic intermodal shipping, warehousing, and manufacturing complex on the Upper New York Bay waterfront in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. The northern portion, commonly called "Industry City" on its own, hosts commercial light manufacturing tenants across 6,000,000 square feet (560,000 m2) of space between 32nd and 41st Streets, and is operated by a private consortium. The southern portion, known as "Bush Terminal", is located between 40th and 51st Streets and is operated by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) as a garment manufacturing complex. Founded by Bush Terminal Company head Irving T. Bush in the early 1900s, Bush Terminal was the first facility of its kind in New York City and the largest multi-tenant industrial property in the United States. The warehouses were built circa 1892–1910, the railroad from 1896 to 1915, and the factory lofts between 1905 and 1925. During World War I, Bush Terminal was used as a United States Navy base, though it returned to private ownership after the war. At its peak, Bush Terminal covered 200 acres (81 hectares), bounded by Gowanus Bay to the west and north, Third Avenue to the east, 27th Street to the north, and 50th Street to the south.: 171 The surrounding area entered a period of decline after World War II, and by the 1970s, the ports in Bush Terminal had been filled. The entire complex was rebranded as Industry City during the post-war years, though the Bush Terminal name remained in popular use. In the 1970s and 1980s, sections of Bush Terminal were demolished or converted into other uses, including a shopping mall, a federal prison, a privately operated manufacturing and commercial complex, and a garment manufacturing district operated by the NYCEDC. Today, the Bush Terminal site collectively comprises roughly 71 acres (29 ha), including sixteen former factory buildings and eleven warehouses between built in the early 20th century. Starting in the 2010s, the complex has been undergoing renovations and expansions. A major expansion of Industry City, which would add 3,000,000 square feet (280,000 m2) of space to the complex, was announced in 2017. The section of Bush Terminal operated by the NYCEDC is also undergoing a renovation into the "Made in NY" campus, a film, TV, and fashion manufacturing complex that is set to open in 2020.

The Church of St. Michael is a Catholic parish church under the authority of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn, located at 352 42nd Street at Fourth Avenue in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. Before the founding of St. Michaels's parish in 1870, Catholics in the area had to travel to mass at either St. John the Evangelist at 21st St. or St. Patrick's in Fort Hamilton. The first pastor was Rev. Michael J. Hickey.The current church was built 1905, and was designed by noted church architect Raymond F. Almirall. The exterior is in early Romanesque. Often referred to as Brooklyn's own "Sacré-Cœur", the domed tower once was the second tallest building in Brooklyn after the Williamsburg Savings Bank Tower, until a late 2000s high rise development claimed that title. St. Michael's parochial school opened in 1886; it closed in 2005.

The South Brooklyn Marine Terminal (SBMT) is an intermodal shipping, warehousing, and manufacturing complex in the Port of New York and New Jersey. It is located along the Upper New York Bay, between 29th and 39th Streets in the Sunset Park and Greenwood Heights neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York City. The site is adjacent to Bush Terminal and Industry City, which respectively lie directly to the south and east. A recycling and waste transfer facility managed by Sims Metal Management is the major tenant. In May 2018, the city contracted partners to activate the largely unused terminal.

The former 18th Police Precinct Station House and Stable of the Brooklyn Police Department is a historic police station and stable located in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. The two buildings were completed in 1892. The station house, which later was used by the New York City Police Department's 68th Precinct, is a three-story brick building with carved stone detailing in the Romanesque Revival style. It features a projecting corner tower and Norman-inspired projecting main entrance portico. The stable is a two-story brick building connected to the station house by a one-story brick passage. It ceased being used as a police station in 1970, and was bought by the Sunset Park School of Music.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, and was designated a New York City landmark in 1983.

The Sunset Park Courthouse is a historic courthouse located at 4201 4th Avenue between 42nd and 43rd Streets, in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. It was built in 1930-31 and was designed by Mortimer Dickerson Metcalfe – the Deputy State Architect under Franklin B. Ware. Metcalfe used the Neoclassical style for the building, which is one of only two courthouses in the city he designed. The limestone-facaded building with Ionic columns has separate facades and entrances for the Municipal Court, on 42nd Street, and the Magistrates Court, on 43rd Street. The two facades are almost identical.The building, which is one of only a handful of historic buildings remaining in the neighborhood, was converted for non-court use in 1962.In 1970 it was the location of the New York City Job Preparation Center, and Community Board 7 also moved into the building at about this time. By 1973 the Sunset Park Senior Citizens Center and other non-profit agencies were located there. A full renovation of the building was completed by Helpern Artitects in 1996, and the New York Police Department moved into the building shortly afterwards, to use as its primary processing center for applicants.The building was designated a New York City Landmark in 2001.

Fourth Avenue is a major thoroughfare in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. It stretches for 6 miles (9.7 km) south from Times Plaza, which is the triangle intersection created by Atlantic and Flatbush Avenues in Downtown Brooklyn, to Shore Road and the Belt Parkway in Bay Ridge. While southwestern Brooklyn is well served by expressways, Fourth Avenue provides an alternate for local traffic as it directly links the neighborhoods of Park Slope, Sunset Park and Bay Ridge with Downtown Brooklyn. Traffic signals along the avenue are coordinated for green wave in the peak direction.

The 45th Street station is a local station on the BMT Fourth Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. Located at 45th Street and Fourth Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, it is served by the R train at all times. The N train also stops here during late nights, and some rush-hour W trains stop here in the peak direction. The 45th Street station was constructed as part of the Fourth Avenue Line, which was approved in 1905. Construction on the segment of the line that includes 45th Street started on March 15, 1913, and was completed in 1915. The station opened on September 22, 1915, after the opening of the initial portion of the BMT Fourth Avenue Line to 59th Street. The station's platforms were lengthened in 1926–1927, and again during a renovation in 1968–1970.

46th Street was a station on the demolished BMT Fifth Avenue Line. It was served by trains of the BMT Fifth Avenue Line in Brooklyn, New York City. It had 2 tracks and 1 island platform. The station was built on October 1, 1893, and despite the name of the line was actually located on Third Avenue and 46th Street. The next stop to the north was 40th Street. The next stop to the south was 52nd Street. It closed on May 31, 1940. Current rapid transit service in this area can be found one block east and then another block north at the 45th Street station on the underground BMT Fourth Avenue Line.

The 36th Street station is an express station on the BMT Fourth Avenue Line of the New York City Subway, located at 36th Street and Fourth Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. It is served by the D, N, and R trains at all times. During rush hours, several W and northbound Q trains also serve the station.The 36th Street station was constructed as part of the Fourth Avenue Line, which was approved in 1905. Construction on the segment of the line that includes 36th Street started on December 10, 1909, and was completed in October 1912. The station opened on June 22, 1915, as part of the initial portion of the BMT Fourth Avenue Line to 59th Street.

Sunset Park High School is a public high school located at 153 35th Street, in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, New York, United States, under the jurisdiction of the New York City Department of Education. The school was built in 2009. and the current principal is Victoria Antonini.
