Perai is an urban settlement in the city of Seberang Perai, Penang, Malaysia. It lies at the southern bank of the Perai River and borders Butterworth to the north. Perai gave its name to the city of Seberang Perai, the mainland half of the State of Penang. The area now known as Perai was obtained by the British East India Company in 1800, with the Perai River serving as the boundary between the newly-acquired British territory and Kedah to the north. A nascent railway line was built between Perai and Perak in the 1890s, transforming Perai into a transit point for the export of tin. Perai became heavily industrialised in the late 20th century.Today, Perai is home to an eponymous industrial estate, as well as the adjacent township of Seberang Jaya. The town is connected to Penang Island via the Penang Bridge and contains several facilities of the Port of Penang.

Chinese Taipei School Penang (CTSP; traditional Chinese: 檳吉臺灣學校; simplified Chinese: 槟吉台湾学校) was a Taiwanese (Republic of China) international school in Penang, Malaysia.The school, which serves levels elementary through senior high school, was first established on 25 February 1995. It is the first Overseas Taiwan School. The current school was established on 1 August 2005 in place of the Penang Taiwan School/Penang Tai Chiao School due to administration issues in the former school. As of 2016 it has 30 teachers, 135 ROC national students, and 10 students of other nationalities. This school has closed for now.

The Jalan Baru Sri Muniswarar Temple is a Hindu temple in Jalan Baru, Prai, Penang, Malaysia. The temple is dedicated to, Muniswarar. This temple was one of the most famous temple in Malaysia. Today, Shree Muniswarar Temple is most famous for blessing newly purchased cars. It attracts a constant stream of car owners, including many Chinese and non Hindus, to have their cars blessed by the temple priest.

Seberang Jaya (Jawi: سبرڠ جاي) is a suburb in the city of Seberang Perai, Penang, Malaysia. Located at the southern bank of the Perai River and east of Perai proper, the area was developed in the 1970s. Since then, Seberang Jaya has evolved into a booming area, with various commercial and retail developments.

Sunway Medical Centre Penang is a private hospital in Seberang Perai within the Malaysian state of Penang.

Sunway Carnival Mall is a shopping mall located at Seberang Jaya, Central Seberang Perai, Penang, Malaysia. The 800,000-square-foot (74,000 m2) four-story mall opened in June 2007. It is located beside the Sunway Hotel within the town center of Seberang Jaya, a township initiated by the Government to boost the administrative, residential, industrial and commercial sector of Malaysia's northern region. Its investment cost to date stands at RM 156 million with a gross build-up of 800,000 sq ft (74,000 m2).Parkson Departmental Store, Golden Screen Cinemas, Jaya Grocer and NOKO Store are the anchor tenants. It also contains over 350 specialty stores.

The Arulmigu Karumariamman Temple of Seberang Jaya is a South Indian Hindu temple noted for having the largest rajagopuram, or main sculpture tower, in Malaysia. It stands at a height of 72 feet (22 m). The entrance of the rajagopuram, at 21 ft (6.4 m) tall and 11 ft (3.4 m) wide, is also the biggest in Malaysia.The Arulmigu Karumariamman Temple, as with many Hindu temples in Malaysia, had its humble origin over a hundred years ago as an estate temple catering to the needs of the estate workers living in the Paduma Estate in Perai. The area where the estate was located was turned into the new township of Seberang Jaya in the 1970s, resulting in the removal of two temples located in the area. Nevertheless, in response to the urging of the residents, the Penang State Government granted a piece of land for the building of a new Hindu temple. Work on the new temple began in 1996. Dato Seri S. Samy Velu, the Minister of Works, laid the foundation stone of the temple on 16 February 1997. The temple was completed at the cost of RM2.3 million, and dedicated to the Hindu deity Arulmigu Karumariamman, a mother deity among the rural South Indians.

The Perai Free Industrial Zone (Perai FIZ) is a free trade zone within Seberang Perai in the Malaysian state of Penang. Located within the suburb of Perai and 4.7 km (2.9 mi) south of Butterworth, the Perai FIZ was established in 1980 with the aim of becoming a major manufacturing hub for bulk items, leveraging its proximity to the Port of Penang and the railway line that links it to the rest of western Peninsular Malaysia.The zone has since attracted numerous multinational companies such as Mattel, Flex, Sanmina, JinkoSolar and Honeywell. In 2022, the Perai FIZ, along with other industrial estates within Central Seberang Perai, received RM1.05 billion of foreign direct investments (FDI), accounting for nearly 11% of Penang's total FDI that year.

Perai River Bridge (Jambatan Sungai Perai in Malay) is a dual-three lane cable stayed bridge connecting the banks of the Perai River in Perai, Penang, Malaysia. It is part of the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR). Designed by Dar Al-Handasah Consultants, it won the IStructE Award for Transportation Structures and the prestigious Supreme Award in 2006. Constructed by Lingkaran Luar Butterworth (Penang) Sdn. Bhd. on a turnkey contract.

Mak Mandin is an industrial town located in Butterworth, Penang, Malaysia. There are Chinese, Tamil and National schools, a police station and also a post office.

Bukit Mertajam (Jawi:بوكيت مرتاجم) is the administrative centre of the city of Seberang Perai in Penang, Malaysia. It also serves as the seat of the Central Seberang Perai District. As of 2010, Bukit Mertajam (core) contains a total of 13,097 residents.Whilst founded in the 19th century as an agricultural area, Bukit Mertajam also evolved into a transportation hub, following the completion of a railway line towards Perai at the end of the century. To this day, its railway station remains a major Malayan Railway station within Seberang Perai. Bukit Mertajam is also well known for its Catholic congregation, which is centred at the St. Anne's Church. The church is one of the focal locations within Southeast Asia for the annual Novena celebrations.It is the birthplace of the two-time Leader of the Opposition and 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim.
