The Trinity Cathedral (Russian: Тро́ицкий собо́р) is a cathedral church, the oldest of all the remaining buildings in the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius. It was built in 1422-1423 by St. Nikon of Radonezh to "honour and praise" the founder of the Trinity Lavra monastery St. Sergius of Radonezh. St. Sergius's relics are kept there. It's the main object of veneration in the Trinity Lavra. The cathedral was built from white stone. It is one of the most important examples of the early Moscow architecture. The Trinity Lavra's history started with the construction of this cathedral. The ancient wall painting, created by the famous painters Andrei Rublev and Daniel Chorny in 1425–1427, is lost. The remaining paintings were created in 1635. They reproduce the ancient iconography of the original. The main treasure of the cathedral is a five-tier iconostasis. Most of its icons were painted in the first third of the 15th century by Andrei Rublev and his colleagues. Both existing copies of Andrei Rublev's Trinity are kept in the iconostasis of the cathedral.

The Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius (Russian: Троице-Сергиева лавра) is a lavra and the most important Russian monastery, being the spiritual centre of the Russian Orthodox Church. The monastery is situated in the town of Sergiyev Posad, about 70 kilometres (43 mi) to the northeast from Moscow by the road leading to Yaroslavl, and currently is home to over 300 monks.

Moscow Theological Academy (Russian: Московская духовная академия) is a higher educational institution of the Russian Orthodox Church, training clergy, teachers, scholars, and officials. The Academy traces its origin to the Slavic Greek Latin Academy, which was founded in 1685 by the Greek Lichud brothers. It was reorganized in 1814 and moved from Moscow to the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius in the town of Sergiyev Posad, Moscow Oblast. The academy was closed in 1919, and reopened in 1944.

Sergiyev Posad (Russian: Се́ргиев Поса́д, IPA: [ˈsʲɛrgʲɪ(j)ɪf pɐˈsat]) is a city that is the administrative center of Sergiyevo-Posadsky District in Moscow Oblast, Russia. Population: 111,179 (2010 Census); 113,581 (2002 Census); 114,696 (1989 Census).It was previously known as Sergiyev Posad (until 1919), Sergiyev (until 1930), Zagorsk (until 1991).

Sergiyevo-Posadsky District (Russian: Се́ргиево-Поса́дский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the thirty-six in Moscow Oblast, Russia. It is located in the north of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,997.14 square kilometers (771.10 sq mi). Its administrative center is the city of Sergiyev Posad. Population: 225,693 (2010 Census); 230,481 (2002 Census); 123,404 (1989 Census). The population of Sergiyev Posad accounts for 49.3% of the district's total population.

Zagorsk Optical-Mechanical Plant (Russian: Загорский оптико-механический завод) is a company based in Sergiyev Posad (formerly called Zagorsk), Moscow Oblast, Russia. It is part of Shvabe Holding of Rostec, a Russian state-owned defense conglomerate. The Zagorsk Optical-Mechanical Plant is a producer of pyrotechnics and precision optical equipment for the military, such as active infrared night vision devices and binoculars. A report last updated in June 1994 stated that it had increased the proportion of its civilian production, and adapted some of its military products, such as night vision devices, to civilian use. On 8 June 2022, the plant experienced a fire, one of several unusual fires in 2022 in Russia.On 9 August 2023, the plant experienced a massive explosion and was evacuated. After the blast, the governor in the region claimed that the factory was actually mainly manufacturing "pyrotechnics".

The Chernigovsky Skete in Sergiev Posad, Russia is a monastery standing unique in central Russia for hand-dug monk cells and prayer caves. Since 1990 it has been under restoration owing to state help and parishioner donations. After its blossom in the early 20th century as part of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra, the skete is regaining its status. Now about 10 monks live in the skete famous for its everyday unction sacrament with anointing. Pilgrims come here to bow to Elder Barnabas’ relics and 2 miraculous Chernigovskaya icon copies.

Skoropuskovsky (Russian: Скоропусковский) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) in Sergiyevo-Posadsky District of Moscow Oblast, Russia. Population: 6,685 (2010 Census); 5,479 (2002 Census); 6,184 (1989 Census).

Radonezh (Russian: Радонеж), formerly known as Gorodok (Городо́к) is a historic village in Moscow Oblast, Russia, located about 15 kilometers (9.3 mi) from Sergiyev Posad. The old town of Radonezh is known to have existed since the first half of the 14th century, when it belonged to Ivan Kalita (Prince of Moscow from 1325). In 1328, Ivan Kalita settled there many captives from Rostov, including the future Saint Sergii Radonezhsky. About twenty years later, Sergii founded the Trinity Monastery to the north of Radonezh. The town belonged to Vladimir of Serpukhov (lived in 1353–1410) and to his descendants until 1426, when the last appanage prince of Radonezh died without naming an heir. There ensued a bitter struggle for the possession of the town, which ended in Vasily II of Moscow's being taken captive in Radonezh by his cousin Dmitry Shemyaka and later blinded in 1446.The economic and political rise of the nearby Trinity Monastery adversely affected the overall development of Radonezh. In the late 15th to 16th century, the monastery eclipsed the town, which later became a village. As of 2015, the remnants of Radonezh are located on an elevated cape, rounded by a curve of the Pazha River. Traces of ramparts and a moat remain. A monument to St Sergii was opened in front of the local church in 1988. Designed by Vyacheslav Klykov, it was the first public statue to be erected in the Soviet Union without permission from the authorities. The largest part of the former town is now occupied by a cemetery. Although any new burials at this archeological site are now illegal, new graves continue to be added; some of them at the expense of the old earth walls being destroyed.

Khotkovo (Russian: Хотьково) is a town in Sergiyevo-Posadsky District of Moscow Oblast, Russia, located on the Moscow–Yaroslavl railway, 60 kilometers (37 mi) northeast of Moscow and 11 kilometers (6.8 mi) southwest of Sergiyev Posad, the administrative center of the district. Population: 21,505 (2010 Census); 20,957 (2002 Census); 23,343 (1989 Census); 20,000 (1974).

Abramtsevo (Russian: Абра́мцево) is a former country estate and now museum-reserve located north of Moscow, in the proximity of Khotkovo, that became a centre for the Slavophile movement and an artists' colony in the 19th century. The estate is located in the village of Abramtsevo, in Sergiyevo-Posadsky District of Moscow Oblast. The Abramtsevo Museum-reserve site is an object of cultural heritage in Russia.

Krasnoarmeysk (Russian: Красноарме́йск) is a town in Moscow Oblast, Russia, on the Vorya (Klyazma's tributary) 51 kilometers (32 mi) northeast of Moscow. Population: 26,294 (2010 Census); 26,051 (2002 Census); 27,460 (1989 Soviet census).
