Natural History Museum of Tampere

The Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame is housed in and administered by the Suomen Jääkiekkomuseo ('Finnish Ice Hockey Museum'), a part of the Vapriikki Museum Centre, in Tampere, Finland. The mission of the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame is to record, document, and exhibit objects, photographs, and printed materials related to Finnish ice hockey. The original Kanada-malja and the Aurora Borealis Cup are on display along with a number of active-use Liiga awards and hockey memorabilia including sweaters and game-used gear from past seasons. When the hall of fame was established on 14 June 1979, its founding members included Aarne Honkavaara, Kalervo Kummola, Kimmo Leinonen, Harry Lindblad, and others. Notable chairpersons of the hall of fame have included, Harry Lindblad (1979–1983), Aarne Honkavaara (1983–1996), Unto Wiitala (1996–2001), and Kimmo Leinonen (2011–2018).Since 1985, the Hockey Hall of Fame Finland has honored distinguished players, coaches, referees, influencers, and members of the media who have made significant impact on ice hockey in Finland, naming them each a Suomen Jääkiekkoleijona ('Finnish Ice Hockey Lion'). Each Jääkiekkoleijona is designated with the chronological number of their induction. Including the induction class of 2023, there are 274 inductees in the Hockey Hall of Fame Finland. Of the 274 inductees, thirteen are women.

The Vapriikki Museum Centre (Finnish: Museokeskus Vapriikki) is a cluster of museums operating in the old factory premises of Tampella, in Tampere, Finland. The name Vapriikki derives from the Swedish word fabrik, meaning factory.

The Rupriikki Media Museum is a history museum devoted to mass communication. It is located in the Vapriikki Museum Centre, in Tampere, Finland. Rupriikki showcases media history. Collections include cellular phones, radios, telephones, computers, and press materials.

The Väinö Linna Square (Finnish: Väinö Linnan aukio) is a courtyard-type square at the Finlayson's old factory area in Tampere, Finland. It is part of the Tammerkoski rapids' industrial landscape, which in 2009 was classified by the Finnish Heritage Agency as a nationally significant built cultural environment. Today, the buildings surrounding the square include the Werstas Labour Museum and Mehiläinen Private Hospital. The oldest building in the square is the six-storey old factory called Kuusivooninkinen (1837), which was Finland's first modern factory building. In 1995, the square was named after Väinö Linna, who formerly worked in that building and was later known as a very significant writer.Finlayson's textile production in the area ended in the mid-1990s, after which renovation of the buildings began. The Väinö Linna Square was renovated in 2005. At the same time, a new hospital was completed on its edge, on the site of a demolished factory building, and The Portrait of Väinö Linna (1995) was placed on the outer wall; the granite statue is one of the latest works by sculptor Raimo Heino.

The Spy Museum is the world's first public museum of international espionage, located in Tampere, Finland. The museum was founded in 1998. The idea of the museum was invented by Teppo Turja, who founded the museum. The museum is the only one of its kind in Europe, besides Spy Museum Berlin.

The Finlayson industrial area is a historic industrial area in the centre of Tampere, Finland. It is located in the Finlayson district to the west of the Tammerkoski rapids, north of the Satakunnankatu street. Opposite the area to the east of Tammerkoski is the Tampella former industrial area. Neither of the areas remain in industrial use today, but many of the old industrial buildings remain in their place. The Finlayson factory was founded in 1820 by Scottish industrialist James Finlayson. He commissioned a factory on the upper reaches of the Tammerkoski rapids. None of the original buildings commissioned by Finlayson remain to this day. Finlayson sold the factory to Carl Samuel Nottbeck and Georg Adolf Rauch in 1836. The new owners started to expand the factory. Nowadays the area is owned by the Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company.

Plevna is a former industrial building located in the neighbourhood of Finlayson in central Tampere, Finland, hosting a Finnkino movie theatre, the brewery restaurant Plevna and the Koskipanimo microbrewery. The building was designed by architects Georg Gunliffe and F. L. Calonius for the textile manufacturer Finlayson Oy and built from 1876 to 1877. It housed the largest weaving hall in the Nordic countries upon completion, holding 1200 power looms. The red brick facade lacked windows and the weaving hall was illuminated through the ceiling windows.Plevna was the first building in the Nordic countries and the Russian Empire (which Finland was part of at the time) to be lit by electric lighting. The Thomas Edison electric light was first used in the building on 15 March 1882. A bridge was built in 1876 between the Plevna and Katuvapriikki buildings, which also served as the main entrance of the factory. The bridge has since been dismantled.The building is named after the city of Pleven, Bulgaria, and the 1877 siege of Plevna during the Russo-Turkish War, which also involved Finnish soldiers to commemorate it.

Satakunnansilta (the ″Satakunta Bridge″) is an old bridge in Tampere, Finland, that crosses the Tammerkoski rapids north of Hämeensilta. The bridge is part of the Satakunnankatu street and is used by both vehicle traffic and pedestrians. The Satakunta Bridge was designed by engineer Karl Snellman, son of Senator J. V. Snellman. It was built between 1897 and 1900 and commissioned on October 9, 1900. The bridge is a 6-span stone arch bridge with spans of 17 meters. The width of the bridge is 11.75 meters and its total length is 112.6 meters.In 2013, the bridge railings were refurbished to the original model, and in 2014, the bridge lamps were replaced with the original model.

Finlayson (formerly known as Näsi) is a neighbourhood in the city center of Tampere, Finland, and as the name implies, it consists of the old factory area of Finlayson, as well as Näsinpuisto, the Mustanlahti harbor area and the residential blocks delimited by Hämeenpuisto and Satakunnankatu. To the east, the area borders Tammerkoski. Area attractions include Tallipiha and Finlayson Church. There are also three palace buildings in the district: Näsilinna (Näsi Castle), Finlayson Palace (Finlaysonin palatsi) and Pikkupalatsi (Little Palace). The area starts at Näsilinnankatu and Kuninkaankatu, which extend to Nalkala, and Puuvillatehtaankatu and Näsijärvenkatu, which cross Hämeenpuisto. Neighboring parts of the city are Tammerkoski in the south and Amuri in the west. Originally, the Finlayson area on the west side of the cotton mill was a residential area for mill workers and clerks; however, the estates inhabited by workers and white-collar workers were quite different in appearance.

Plevna is a Finnkino movie theatre in central Tampere, Finland, in the Finlayson district. With its ten auditoria it is the largest movie theatre in Tampere and one of the largest in Finland. The theatre is located in the old Finlayson industrial area in the old Plevna industrial building. The theatre was opened in 1999 and it has a total of 1653 seats. Plevna is one of the premises of the annual Tampere Film Festival.

Tampella (until 2002 known as Naistenlahti) is a neighbourhood in the northern part of the city center of Tampere, Finland. It consists of the old Tampella factory area, the Armonkallio residential area and the Naistenlahti harbor area. The neighboring parts of the internally heterogeneous district located on the shores of Lake Näsijärvi are Lapinniemi, Lappi, Osmonmäki, Tammela, Jussinkylä, Finlayson and Särkänniemi.The Naistenlahti Power Plant operates on the shores of Lake Näsijärvi in Tampella. The Vapriikki Museum Centre is also located in the district.

Wilhelm von Nottbeck Park (Finnish: Wilhelm von Nottbeckin puisto) is a park in Tampere, Finland, located in the historic Finlayson factory area. The park is named after William von Nottbeck (1816–1890), industrial manager at Finlayson, who built the park in 1848.The park is English-style free-form park that strives for a natural impression. In the past, there were also greenhouses built in the 19th century, but they were demolished in the 1970s and replaced with a parking lot. The park was taken over by the city in 1995, when it also got its current name. Attractions in the park include the Finlayson Palace and the Kotkankallio Memorial.
