Christchurch Hospital is the largest tertiary hospital in the South Island of New Zealand. The public hospital is in the centre of Christchurch city, on the edge of Hagley Park, and serves the wider Canterbury region. The Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB) operates the hospital with funding from the government. Christchurch Hospital is the major trauma centre for northern and central Canterbury, and the tertiary major trauma centre for the wider Canterbury and West Coast regions. It has the busiest ED in the South Island and sees more major trauma than any other hospital in New Zealand, and all but a handful of hospitals in Australia.The Christchurch School of Medicine is on the hospital campus, the school provides teaching for fourth, fifth and sixth year medical students, and is part of the University of Otago. A new building, sitting behind the original Christchurch Hospital buildings, named ‘Waipapa’ was opened in 2020 and houses Canterbury DHB’s acute services. Christchurch Hospital’s Emergency Department is now located within Waipapa.The hospital’s helipad now sits atop of the Waipapa building, and replaces the previous one situated in Hagley Park, 500 m (1,600 ft) to the southwest along Hagley Avenue.

The Nurses' Memorial Chapel at Christchurch Hospital, New Zealand, is registered as a Category I heritage building. The chapel is significant as New Zealand's first hospital chapel, and as the country's only World War I memorial solely dedicated to women, and is worldwide the only chapel dedicated to nurses.

The Curator's House is a historic building in the Christchurch Botanic Garden, in Christchurch, New Zealand. It was built for the Curator of the Botanic Gardens in 1920 and it is now home to a restaurant, called The Curator's House.

The Antigua Boat Sheds in Christchurch, New Zealand is an historic building on the banks of the Avon River. It is possibly the only 19th-century example of a commercial boat shed situated on a river in New Zealand. It has been used as a boat shed continuously since its completion in 1882.

The Pegasus Press Building is a registered heritage building in the Christchurch Central City. It is believed to be the oldest surviving building in Christchurch.

The Peacock Fountain was bought by the Christchurch Beautifying Society from money bequeathed by John Thomas Peacock, a trader, politician and philanthropist. The fountain was unveiled in 1911, moved to a new location some years later, and put into storage in 1949. After a $270,000 renovation, it was commissioned again in 1996, in its third location in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens. It has an elaborate colour scheme and is a much photographed tourist attraction.

Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre, formerly known as the Metro Sports Facility, is a sport facility in Christchurch Central City, New Zealand, that has been under construction since 2018 and is scheduled to open in late 2025. It was announced in 2012 as part of the Christchurch Central Recovery Plan, which was a plan to recover the central city after the devastating 2010 Canterbury and 2011 Christchurch earthquakes occurred.

The Robert McDougall Art Gallery is a heritage building in Christchurch, New Zealand. It was designed by Edward Armstrong and it opened in 1932. It is a Category I heritage building listed with Heritage New Zealand and is located within the Christchurch Botanic Gardens.

The Canterbury Museum is a museum located in the central city of Christchurch, New Zealand, in the city's Cultural Precinct. The museum was established in 1867 with Julius von Haast – whose collection formed its core – as its first director. The building is registered as a "Historic Place – Category I" by Heritage New Zealand.

The Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora is a hub for arts, culture, education, creativity and entrepreneurship in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is located in the Gothic Revival former Canterbury College (now the University of Canterbury), Christchurch Boys' High School and Christchurch Girls' High School buildings, many of which were designed by Benjamin Mountfort. The centre is a national landmark and taonga as it is home to New Zealand's largest collection of category one heritage buildings with 21 of the 23 buildings covered by Heritage New Zealand listings. The centre, which is held in trust for the people of Canterbury and its visitors, has been undergoing a large restoration since it was badly damaged in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. Buildings are progressively reopening to the public as they are strengthened and repaired and more than two-thirds of the buildings have reopened.

Townsend Observatory, owned and administered by the University of Canterbury, is part of the Arts Centre of Christchurch, New Zealand and was open on clear Friday evenings. The building collapsed in the February 2011 Christchurch earthquake.

The Rolleston Statue is a white marble statue situated outside Canterbury Museum on Rolleston Avenue in Christchurch, New Zealand. It commemorates William Rolleston, who was Superintendent of the Canterbury Province from 1868 until 1877. The statue was unveiled on 26 May 1906 by Sir John Hall KCMG, Mayor of Christchurch and personal friend, who writes the "City Council arrived in carriages to Statue".The Rolleston Statue fell off its plinth in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake but was repaired in 2016.
