The National Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Spanish: Santuario Nacional del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús), popularly known as Iglesia del Cerrito (due to its location on top of the Cerrito de la Victoria) is a Roman Catholic parish church and national shrine in Montevideo, Uruguay.

The Battle of Cerrito (outskirts of Montevideo, 31 December 1812), was a battle for the War of Independence of the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata, between the royalist forces who had control of the city of Montevideo and the rebel forces of the government of Buenos Aires.

The event known as Second Siege of Montevideo (Spanish: Segundo Sitio de Montevideo) took place between 1812 and 1814, when the patriotic troops led by José Rondeau besieged the city of Montevideo, still held by Spanish loyalists under the leadership of Gaspar de Vigodet, governor of Montevideo. The siege was successful and marked the end of the Spanish presence in present-day Uruguay. During this whole period and just like in the failed first siege of Montevideo, supplied from over the sea, the city held out, until 17 May 1814. Then, the naval victories of Admiral William Brown, cut off the supply route and the city faced starvation. By the end of June, Vigodet was forced to surrender Montevideo to General Carlos María de Alvear.

The Stadium Parque Carlos Ángel Fossa (Estadio Parque Carlos Ángel Fossa) is a football stadium located in Montevideo, Uruguay. It is owned by the Institución Atlética Sud América, a football club based in the city. The stadium is also known by the names El Fortín and Parque Fossa. The stadium is situated behind the Cuartel de Blandengues in the Cerrito de la Victoria area, at the end of Héctor Odriozola Street. It has a seating capacity of 2,466 spectators. The stadium was inaugurated in 1935 and is named in honor of Carlos Ángel Fossa, one of the club's former presidents. Estadio Parque Carlos Ángel Fossa is used primarily for football matches, and it serves as the home ground for the Institución Atlética Sud América. The stadium holds historical significance for the club, and it remains an important venue in Montevideo's football culture.

Museo de la Casa de Luis Alberto de Herrera (translation: House Museum of Luis Alberto de Herrera) is a museum in the Brazo Oriental barrio of Montevideo, Uruguay. The street in which the house is situated, somewhat set back from the road, is now known as Avenida Dr. Luis Alberto de Herrera (previously Avenida Larrañaga). It is surrounded by a park designed by landscape architect Charles Racine.

Pérez Castellanos, also known as Castro - Pérez Castellanos, is a barrio (neighbourhood or district) of Montevideo, Uruguay. In the new division of Montevideo in municipalities and "communal centre zones", Pérez Castellanos belongs to municipality D and CCZ 11.

Bolívar is a barrio (neighbourhood or district) of Montevideo, Uruguay, and part of the Mercado Modelo–Bolívar composite barrio.

Liberty Building (Spanish: Edificio Libertad) served as one of two executive office buildings of the President of Uruguay (the Estévez Palace being the other). It was built in the 1970s during the military government for the Ministry of Defense, but in 1985, president Julio María Sanguinetti decided to move the presidential office to that building. Its surrounding area was turned into a park with a permanent exhibit of modern sculptures, which was inaugurated in 1996.In 2006, President Tabaré Vázquez announced that he would be moving the presidential offices to the Executive Tower and turn the Liberty Building into a hospital. It is currently the headquarters of the State Health Services Administration.

Las Acacias is a barrio (neighbourhood or district) of Montevideo, Uruguay.

Estadio Contador Damiani, formerly Las Acacias, is a football stadium in Montevideo, Uruguay, inaugurated in 1916 and re-built in 1997. It is used mostly for Peñarol's reserves matches. The stadium can hold up to 12,000 people. VIP stands and the entrance were taken in 1930 to the stadium Estadio Pocitos, where the first ever goal in World Cup history was scored by the French forward Lucien Laurent. The structure has since been returned to its original location.

Cilindro Municipal (The Municipal Cylinder) was an indoor arena in Montevideo, Uruguay which was opened in 1956, for Uruguay's Industrial Exhibition of the Production of international character. The arena was used as the main venue of the 1967 edition of the FIBA World Cup, for which it had a seating capacity of 18,000 spectators.
