The South River is a 16.3-mile-long (26.2 km) tributary of the Great Egg Harbor River in Atlantic County, New Jersey, in the United States.It rises in Richland and joins the Great Egg Harbor River approximately 3.7 miles (6.0 km) downstream of Mays Landing. A short outlet has been cut from the South River to the Great Egg Harbor River across from Catawba, allowing water traffic to bypass the lower part of the river paralleling the Great Egg Harbor.

Belcoville is an unincorporated community located within Weymouth Township, in Atlantic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.The town was founded in March 1918, during World War I to provide housing for the nearby Bethlehem Loading Company munitions plant. A town hall, school, bank, bowling alley, and several types of stores were created by August. The facility continued production until 1919, after the war had ended, and was subsequently torn down and scrapped. Belcoville had a population of almost 10,000 at its peak. The land was purchased by the Mays Landing Water Company after the facility was demolished. In 1923, a church and fire company were founded.

The Samuel Richards Hotel, also known as the American Hotel, is located at 106 East Main Street in the Mays Landing section of Hamilton Township in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. The sandstone building was built in 1837 and added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 31, 1979, for its significance in architecture, commerce, community planning, law, politics, and social history. The hotel was added as a contributing property to the Mays Landing Historic District in 1990.

Mays Landing Presbyterian Church is a historic church built in 1841 and located at Main Street and Cape May Avenue in the Mays Landing section of Hamilton Township in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. It was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) in 1938 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 20, 1982, for its significance in architecture and religion. The church was added as a contributing property to the Mays Landing Historic District in 1990.

Weymouth Township was incorporated by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 12, 1798, from portions of Egg Harbor Township, while the area was still part of Gloucester County, and was incorporated nine days later. Portions of the township were taken on February 5, 1813, to create Hamilton Township. Weymouth Township became part of the newly created Atlantic County on February 7, 1837. Voters passed a multimillion-dollar building project referendum, and the district was awarded an $800,000 grant from the New Jersey Schools Development Authority to cover project costs.
