Caramulo is a town in Portugal. It is part of the civil parish of Guardão in the municipality of Tondela, Portugal. In Caramulo is housed one of the most important motor vehicle museums in Portugal. Among the exhibits are some very rare cars including António de Oliveira Salazar official state vehicle and the fully Portuguese built Alba sports car of the 1950s. Although the tourism industry in the area has had roots for many years due to Caramulo being renowned for the natural Spa baths and health establishments within an untouched forest setting, ideal for leisure activities such as cycling, walking and sightseeing, of late, further expansion of facilities is taking place to accommodate increased demand.

Serra do Caramulo is a mountain range in Central Portugal. The mountain is part of the intermunicipal community of Viseu Dão Lafões and is populated by villages with granite houses and espigueiros typical of this region. Some traces of Neolithic and Roman occupation, such as the megaliths and stone tracks, can still be found in the range. It has a rich flora, predominated by Genista tridentata and heather and also the rare Rhododendron ponticum.The Caramulinho is the highest peak of the range where the Atlantic Ocean and Serra da Estrela are visible in the clearest days.The small locality of Caramulo is also part of the range.

Fail was a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Viseu, with 6.92 km2 (2.7 sq mi) and 664 inhabitants (2011). Density: 96 inhabitants / km2 (245/sq mi). In 2013 Law No 11-A / 2013 was changed and Fail was reclassified into the Union of Parishes Fail e Vila Chã de Sá based in Vila Chã de Sá.

Oliveira de Frades (Portuguese pronunciation: [ɔliˈvɐjɾɐ ðɨ ˈfɾaðɨʃ] ) is a municipality in the district Viseu in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 10,261, in an area of 145.35 km2.The municipality was created in 1836 by splitting the former municipality Lafões into the current municipalities of Oliveira de Frades, Sao Pedro do Sul and Vouzela. It is one of the few municipalities in Portugal without territorial continuity (the other being Montijo and Vila Real de Santo António): its territory comprehends two parts, with the town of Oliveira de Frades located in the bigger part, and Arca e Varzielas in the smaller part. The present mayor is Paulo Ferreira, elected by the Nós, Cidadãos! party. The municipal holiday is October 7.

São Pedro do Sul (Portuguese pronunciation: [sɐ̃w ˈpeðɾu ðu ˈsul] ) is a municipality in the Central Portuguese district of Viseu. Part of the subregion of Dão-Lafões, the municipality has a population of 16,851 inhabitants and includes 14 civil parishes. The seat of this municipality is the city of São Pedro do Sul, with a population of 5,728 inhabitants.

São João de Lourosa is a civil parish in the municipality of Viseu, Portugal. It has 24.30 km2 and had 4702 inhabitants in the 2011 census.

Viseu Dão-Lafões is a Portuguese subregion located in the north of the Central Region. In 2021, the subregion recorded 252,984 inhabitants and a population density of 78 inhabitants per km2. The subregion has an area of 3,238 km2, which can be divided into 14 municipalities and 156 parishes. The capital of the subregion is the city of Viseu, which is the largest city in the subregion and the third largest city in the Central Region, with 99,561 inhabitants in the entire municipality and 59,469 inhabitants in the urban area. It borders the Porto metropolitan area to the northwest, the Tâmega e Sousa subregion to the north, the Douro subregion to the northeast, the Beiras e Serra da Estrela subregion to the east, the Região de Coimbra subregion to the south and the Região de Aveiro subregion to the west.

The Comunidade Intermunicipal Viseu Dão Lafões (Portuguese pronunciation: [viˈzew ðɐ̃w lɐˈfõjʃ]) is an administrative division in Portugal. It replaced the previously existing Greater Metropolitan Area of Viseu. Since January 2015, Viseu Dão Lafões is also a NUTS3 subregion of Centro Region, that covers the same area as the intermunicipal community. The main city and seat of the intermunicipal community is Viseu. The population in 2011 was 267,633, in an area of 3,237.74 km².

The city is also a cultural center, home to the nationally acclaimed Grão Vasco Museum, the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Viseu, and center of national universities, including the Catholic University of Portugal.
