Seocho station

The Supreme Court of Korea (Korean: 대법원; Hanja: 大法院; RR: Daebeobwon) is the highest ordinary court in the judicial branch of South Korea, seated in Seocho, Seoul. Established under Chapter 5 of the Constitution of South Korea, the Court has ultimate and comprehensive jurisdiction over all cases except those cases falling under the jurisdiction of the Constitutional Court of Korea. It consists of fourteen Justices, including the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Korea. The Supreme Court is at the top of the hierarchy of all ordinary courts in South Korea, and traditionally represented the conventional judiciary of South Korea. The Supreme Court has equivalent status as one of the two highest courts in South Korea. The other is the Constitutional Court of Korea.

Seoul Nat'l Univ. of Education Station is a station in the Seocho District of Seoul, on Seoul Subway Line 2 and Line 3. It is usually noted on station signs and on-board announcements that the station serves (the Supreme) Court & Prosecutors' Office. The station is a transfer point between the circular Line 2 (the busiest line on the network) which runs east–west at this point, and the north-south Line 3. The station is an extremely busy transfer point for those travelling between central Seoul and Gangnam district, Teheran Valley and the COEX/KWTC complex. The station is commonly referred to as "Kyodae" or "Gyodae". The Seoul National University of Education is located nearby.

The National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Korea (Korean: 대한민국학술원), is the senior national organization of distinguished Korean scientists and scholars. It was founded to promote learning and research in all areas of sciences by conferring membership and preferential treatment to those who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of sciences and learning. The Academy consists of 150 Fellows who are selected by their peers for their contributions to the sciences and education.

The National Library of Korea (Korean: 국립중앙도서관) is located in the Seocho District of Seoul, South Korea. It was established in 1945. It houses over 10 million volumes, including over 1,134,000 foreign books and some of the National Treasures of South Korea.

Acrovista (Korean: 아크로비스타) is a residential apartment building in Seocho District, Seoul, South Korea. It was completed in June 2004, and became open to move-ins on June 25, 2004. It is a 37-story building with 757 apartments and 82 officetels. It has been described as a luxury apartment. The building is located on the former site of the Sampoong Department Store, which collapsed in 1995. The plot of land had gone up for auction in November 1996, and was purchased by the company Daesang Group. That company assumed control of the land in August 1999. Acrovista's construction was handled by company DL E&C. As of 2025, former South Korean first lady Kim Keon-hee, wife of president Yoon Suk Yeol, owns a 164 m2 (1,770 sq ft) apartment in the building. The apartment drew public attention after Yoon's 2024 impeachment was confirmed in 2025, and Yoon was required to move out of his presidential residence in Hannam-dong. As of April 7, 2025, it is expected that Yoon and Kim will move back into Acrovista. Several interviewed residents of Acrovista expressed dissatisfaction with the first couple's return. Some expressed disappointment with Yoon's 2024 declaration of martial law that caused his impeachment, others worried about disruption to their daily lives, and others worried that Yoon's presence would affect the value of their property. During Yoon's impeachment trials, gatherings near the apartment's entrance were prohibited by police.

On June 29, 1995, the Sampoong Department Store in Seoul, South Korea collapsed due to a structural failure. The collapse killed 502 people and injured 937, making it the largest peacetime disaster in South Korean history. It was the deadliest non-deliberate modern building collapse until the 2013 Dhaka garment factory collapse in Bangladesh.Construction on the building commenced in 1987 and was completed in 1990. The company initially contracted to build the structure withdrew after the chairman of Sampoong Group's construction division, Lee Joon, demanded changes to the concrete support columns that introduced structural concerns. Joon ultimately used his own company to complete construction. Investigators blamed the collapse primarily on the column specifications which were incorrect for a flat-slab building design. Joon was found guilty of criminal negligence and sentenced to 10.5 years in prison.

The Seoul National University of Education (SNUE) is a public university in Seocho-gu, Seoul, South Korea, which provides specialized training for future public elementary school teachers in South Korea. Founded in May 1946 under the name of Kyunggi Public Normal School, the university is the first national university that specializes in elementary school teacher training. The university offers graduate and undergraduate programs, and has an attached elementary school.

Hamchoon Women's Clinic (함춘여성산부인과) is a specialized clinic for infertility, genetic testing, and general Medical and health organizations in South Korea care. It also started to provide a childbirth service in 2008 by opening a branch in Apgujeong-dong. Hamchoon is especially renowned for genetic testing for disorders such as Down Syndrome. The clinic also has a separate laboratory dedicated to infertility and genetics and a subsidiary for developing healthcare technology. The current chairman of Hamchoon Women's Clinic is Dr. Kichul Kim.

The Catholic University of Korea, Seoul St. Mary's Hospital (SSMH; Korean: 가톨릭대학교 서울성모병원) is the representative teaching and research hospital of the Catholic University of Korea's College of Medicine located in Seoul, South Korea. SSMH operates under the Catholic Medical Center (CMC), which owns eight subsidiary hospitals and seven research centers in Korea. In March 2023, the hospital was ranked 91st among over 2,300 hospitals in the world.

Nambu Bus Terminal Station is a subway station on the Seoul Subway Line 3 in Seocho-gu, Seoul. Its substation name is Seoul Arts Center. As its name indicates, it serves the nearby Nambu Bus Terminal. It is also the closest station to the Seoul Arts Center, located about a half-mile southwest of here. When this line opened, this station was called the Cargo Truck Terminal.

Seorae Village (Korean: 서래마을), sometimes nicknamed "Montmartre", due to its hilltop location, or sometimes "French Village", is a small, affluent French ethnic enclave in Banpo-dong & Bangbae-dong, Seocho District, Seoul, South Korea. It is home to about 560 French people, roughly 40% of the French community in South Korea. Most of them are employees of French corporations doing business in the country. The majority (370) of the French population are children.The village began to form there in 1985, with the movement of Lycée Français de Séoul to the area. The school, one of the city's French international school, had formerly been located just north of the Han River in Hannam-dong, a large international neighborhood. French people with children followed, as did bakeries and wine shops. The village is the site of a 20,000 m2 park, "Montmartre Park", which is often the site of public events for foreigners. It is near Express Bus Terminal Station on Seoul Subway Line 3. The area has a large concentration of European-style restaurants and dessert cafes, as well as wineries and cafes stand along its main street.

The Seoul Arts Center (SAC; Korean: 예술의 전당) is an arts complex in Seocho District, Seoul, South Korea. It consists of five main buildings: the Opera House, with three auditoriums; the Music Hall, with two concert halls; the Hangaram Art Museum; the Hangaram Design Museum; and the Seoul Calligraphy Art Museum.: 94  The Opera House is built in a shape that resembles the traditional Korean bamboo hat called gat.In January 1982, the government decided to build a Seoul Arts Center, which would be in charge of the overall function of artistic activities, and began to select a site. This announcement was aimed at the 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Seoul Olympics. The final site was decided in September of the same year at the foot of the mountain between Nambu Beltway and Mt. Umyeon (area: 231,000m²), and on November 14, 1984, a groundbreaking ceremony was held with the National Gugak Center. The construction of the Seoul Arts Center was divided into Phase 1 (1984 – 1988) and Phase 2 (1988 – )In February 1988, the first phase of construction, the Music Hall and Calligraphy Hall, was completed and opened. In October 1990, the Hangaram Art Museum and the Seoul Art Archives opened, and on February 15, 1993, the Seoul Opera Theater (currently the Opera House) opened and was completed.
