Jongno Tower

Jonggak Station is a station on the Line 1 of the Seoul Subway in South Korea. It is located on Jongno, central Seoul and comprises a large underground arcade. The second-largest book shop in South Korea, the Bandi & Luni's lying under the Jongno Tower, which in turn is just above this station, is directly accessible from the station. On every New Year's Day, the bell ceremony (Jeyaeui Jong Tajongsik) is held at Boshingak, the nearby bell pavilion. (The name of the station comes from this pavilion, jong meaning bell and gak pavilion.) At those times the area is so crowded with tens of thousands of Seoulites that trains do not stop at Jonggak as to avoid any accidents.

Bosingak is a large bell pavilion on Jongno in Seoul, South Korea. The bell in Bosingak gives Jongno its name, which literally means "bell street". It was originally constructed in 1396 but destroyed many times by both war and fire. It was designated Bosingak by Emperor Gojong in 1895. In the Joseon Dynasty, this bell was at the center of the castle town. The bell was struck to announce the opening and closing of the four gates around Seoul. At 4 am and 10 pm the bell was struck 33 times and gates were opened and closed. It was used as a fire alarm as well. In modern times, the bell is rung only at midnight on New Year's Eve. Because of the massive number of people who attend this ceremony, Metro trains on Line 1 of the Seoul Subway do not stop at Jonggak Station on New Year's Eve.

Imun Seolnongtang (Korean: 이문설농탕; Hanja: 里門雪濃湯) is a historic restaurant in Seoul, South Korea. It is the oldest operating restaurant in South Korea, having been founded in c. 1904, during the Korean Empire period. It specializes in the ox bone soup dish seolleongtang. The restaurant is one of relatively few to have survived the tumultuous 1910–1945 Japanese colonial period and 1950–1953 Korean War. It has reportedly used the same cooking methods and recipes since its founding. It used the same building, dating to the colonial period, until 2011, when the area it was in was redeveloped. It is now a popular tourist attraction, and is listed on the Michelin Guide. In 2013, it was made a Seoul Future Heritage.

The Art Center Nabi is an art museum in Seorin-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It was relocated to the 4th floor of SK building of SK Group in 2000 and reborn as digital art museum. Art Center Nabi has produced and exhibited various kinds of digital art at the intersection of arts and technology.

Umigwan (Korean: 우미관; Hanja: 優美館) was a historic movie theater in Gwancheol-dong, Jongno District, Seoul, South Korea. It was established in 1910 or 1911 by a Japanese person, initially under the name Golden Entertainment Hall (고등연예관; 黃金演藝館). It received the Umigwan name in December 1912. It was a large two-story brick building with a seating capacity of 1,000.The theater saw its heyday in the 1910s, before its competitors the Chosŏn Theater and Dansungsa became more established. It showed a significant number of silent short films in its first decade. It showed the first sound film in Korea in 1928.Its influence waned over time, although it remained in operation for even after the end of the Japanese colonial period in 1945. It was eventually destroyed during the 1950–1953 Korean War.The theater was reconstructed in 1959, next to the Whashin Department Store. The theater never regained its prestige, and eventually went out of business in 1982.

Insa-dong is a dong, or neighborhood in the Jongno-gu district of Seoul. The main street is Insadong-gil, which is connected to a multitude of alleys that lead deeper into the district, with modern galleries and tea shops. Historically, it was the largest market for antiques and artwork in Korea.Stretching across 12.7 hectares (or 31.4 acres), the district is bordered by Gwanhun-dong to the north, Nagwon-dong to the east, and Jongno 2-ga and Jeokseon-dong to the south, and Gongpyeong-dong to the west.

Jogyesa (Jogye Temple) is the chief temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. The building dates back to the late 14th century and became the order's chief temple in 1936. It thus plays a leading role in the current state of Seon Buddhism in South Korea. The temple was first established in 1395, at the dawn of the Joseon Dynasty; the modern temple was founded in 1910 and initially called "Gakhwangsa". The name was changed to "Taegosa" during the period of Japanese rule, and then to the present name in 1954. Jogyesa is located in Gyeonji-dong, Jongno-gu, in downtown Seoul. Natural monument No. 9, an ancient white pine tree, is located within the temple grounds. Jogyesa Temple is located in one of the most popular cultural streets in Seoul, Insa-dong, near the Gyeongbokgung Palace.

Cheongjin-dong is a dong, neighbourhood of Jongno-gu in Seoul, South Korea. It is a legal dong (법정동 法定洞) administered under its administrative dong (행정동 行政洞), Jongno.

Tongmungwan or Tongmunkwan (Korean: 통문관; Hanja: 通文館) is a historic book store in Seoul, South Korea. It is the oldest active book store in the country, having been founded in 1934. It has remained a family business since its establishment. It has served mainly academics, and reportedly has had a significant impact in the study of Korean history. The business was designated a Seoul Future Heritage in 2013. It is also an Oraegage, a store of historic value.
