Kingston Penitentiary (known locally as KP and Kingston Pen) is a former maximum security prison located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, between King Street West and Lake Ontario.

The Prison For Women ("P4W"; French: Prison des femmes), located in Kingston, Ontario, was a Correctional Service of Canada prison for women that functioned at a maximum security level from 1934 to 2000.

The Faculty of Education at the Queen's University at Kingston in Canada was founded in 1907. Over 23,000 teachers and education professionals have graduated from the Faculty since 1907. The Faculty is located at Duncan McArthur Hall, an integrated educational complex that provides teaching and learning facilities, support services, and administrative offices under one roof on West Campus.

Portsmouth Village is a formerly incorporated village in Ontario which was annexed to become a neighbourhood of Kingston, Ontario, Canada in 1952. The village was founded in 1784 by United Empire Loyalists. It began to grow with the establishment of Kingston Penitentiary nearby in 1833 and was formally incorporated in 1858. A town hall was created by William Coverdale in 1865 and is used today by various special interest clubs. The shoreline was soon home to numerous tanneries; breweries, including Molson and Labatt; shipyards; sawmills; and the nearby penitentiary and asylum, Rockwood Asylum (now closed). The penitentiary, Kingston Penitentiary, and asylum are the only establishments from this era that remain today. Economic opportunities declined at the turn of the 20th century, and the village was annexed by the city of Kingston in 1952. Portsmouth Village is home to Portsmouth Olympic Harbour, which held the yachting and boating events of the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. Today the area retains its historic village feel while being a part of the city of Kingston. The district is bounded by Johnson Street to the north, Portsmouth Avenue to the west, Lake Ontario to the south, and Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard to the east. Numerous amenities are available including a school, arena, and several historic churches and parks. There are also numerous local businesses along King Street West. The north-eastern portion of Portsmouth is home to the West Campus of Queen's University as well as Richardson Memorial Stadium, home of the Queen's Golden Gaels. Portsmouth is 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) west of Kingston City Hall. St. Lawrence College and Lake Ontario Park lie on the western boundary of the village at Portsmouth Avenue, along with Cataraqui Golf and Country Club, which operates a nationally renowned golf course and a curling club.

Rockwood Asylum (also known as Rockwood Lunatic Asylum or Rockwood Asylum for the Criminally Insane) was one of the first criminal asylums in Upper Canada, established in 1859 in Kingston, Ontario. Although methodologies of patient care changed drastically throughout its existence, the facility existed as some form of psychiatric hospital until its closure in 2000. The ominous four-storey building remains on its original property just west of Portsmouth, just a few metres inland from the shore of Lake Ontario.

Richardson Memorial Stadium, officially named George Taylor Richardson Memorial Stadium, is the football stadium for Queen's University, in Kingston, Ontario. The stadium is primarily used for Canadian football but also has hosted other sporting events such as soccer and rugby. There has been a stadium at Queen's University since 1921, all using the same name. A second stadium was built in 1971 to replace the first. This was then subsequently replaced in 2016 when the third and most current version was opened. The current stadium has a seating capacity of over 8,000.The facilities are named in memory of George Taylor Richardson, a Queen's graduate renowned for his athleticism and sportsmanship who died in the First World War.

HMS St Lawrence was a 102-gun first-rate wooden warship of the Royal Navy that served on Lake Ontario during the War of 1812. Built on the lake at the Royal Navy dockyard in Kingston, Ontario, she was the only Royal Navy ship of the line ever to be launched and operated entirely in fresh water. Constructed in 1814, the ship's arrival on the lake ended all naval action and St Lawrence finished the war having never gone into battle. Following the war, the vessel was laid up, eventually being sold in 1832 to private interests. The ship later sank and is now a recreational dive spot.

St. Lawrence College (SLC) is a College of Applied Arts and Technology with three campuses in Eastern Ontario, namely Brockville (1970), Cornwall (1968) and Kingston (founded September 1969). It is affiliated with private Alpha College of Business & Technology in Toronto and Canadian College in Vancouver.

Beth Israel Congregation (Hebrew: בית ישראל) is a Conservative synagogue located at 116 Centre Street in Kingston, Ontario.It was designed by Joseph William Power, architect in 1910. It is the oldest synagogue in Kingston.

Bellevue House National Historic Site was the home to Canada's first Prime Minister, Sir John Alexander Macdonald from 1848 to 1849. The house is located in Kingston, Ontario. Bellevue House was constructed around 1840 for Charles Hales, a wealthy Kingston merchant who profited greatly from the prosperous decade of the 1830s. The house, which is located at 35 Centre St. between Union and King streets, is one of the first examples of Italian Villa architecture in Canada. Sir John A. Macdonald moved into the house with his wife Isabella Clark and their son John Alexander in 1848.

Lake Ontario Park is a municipal park located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, on the east side of Cataraqui Bay on the shore of Lake Ontario. The park, which dates from 1894, is a day-use facility with picnic areas, picnic pavilion, walkways, and children's playgrounds. The city acquired the park from the street railway company in 1930, the last year of streetcar service in Kingston.Its once popular campground closed in 2005 and the park's many amusement rides and refreshment booths have been removed. In 2006 the City of Kingston completed an exercise to obtain public feedback on the park's future. The park was refurbished and officially reopened on June 23, 2013 with washrooms, a play structure, walking paths to the shoreline, a beach volleyball court and a natural skating rink for the winter.Thousands attend on Victoria Day at dusk (third Monday in May), to enjoy a large fireworks display over Cataraqui Bay, as well as live music performances.
