Sideway (pronounced "Siddaway") is an area of Stoke-on-Trent, approximately one mile south west of Stoke-upon-Trent, Stoke-on-Trent, in Staffordshire, England. It is located on the junction of the A500 and the A50 adjacent to the Bet365 Stadium. The area around the stadium was formerly a spoil tip for the Hem Heath Colliery, which closed in the mid-1990s; the stadium itself opened in 1997. The surrounding area has also been redeveloped and is home to a hotel, restaurant, health club and a number of car dealerships. Sideway is also home to a Michelin factory, a medium wave transmitter for Absolute Radio, Greatest Hits Radio Staffordshire & Cheshire and BBC Radio Stoke, and the base of Marcroft Engineering, a railway wagon repair company. It also has two lakes which are controlled by Fenton and District Angling Society. Stoke EfW is a large incineration plant in the Sideway area of Stoke-on-Trent, England. It burns municipal waste and in the process produces electricity for the National Grid. It was originally built in 1989 and is operated by Hanford Waste Services Ltd. The original plant was found to release 300 times the standard level of dioxins, so was replaced with a new facility, opening in October 1998. The plant is dominated by a 76-metre-tall chimney stack and has a total installed generating capacity of 15.4 megawatts.

The Villas, Stoke-on-Trent, is an estate of 24 Victorian houses in Stoke-upon-Trent, England. Originally a distinct settlement set in green fields, it now merges with the late 19th- and early 20th-century suburban sprawl along London Road below Penkhull village on the outskirts of Stoke-on-Trent and within the ward of Stoke and Trent Vale. Most dating from 1851 to 1855, The Villas was designed by local architect Charles Lynam, who became a prominent architect in Staffordshire, building the Minton Hollins tileworks, for example. In designing The Villas, he chose an Italianate style similar to other Staffordshire buildings, such as Trentham Hall and Alton Towers railway station. In June 1850, a number of prominent inhabitants of Stoke formed "The Stokeville Building Society". The purpose of the building society was to provide the means and the financial capability for its members to erect, and ultimately own, houses on copyhold land outside the town of Stoke-upon-Trent. The land, 'Big Meadow and Barker's Meadow', containing seven acres, two rods and 18 perches, belonged to the Reverend Thomas Minton, brother of Herbert Minton, and son of the founder of Thomas Minton and Sons (later Mintons Ltd), pottery manufacturer of Stoke, and was finally purchased for £1,582 on 3 May 1859.

The Victoria Ground was the home ground of Stoke City from 1878 until 1997, when the club relocated to the Britannia Stadium after 119 years. At the time of its demolition it was the oldest operational ground in the Football League.

St Joseph's College is a mixed grammar school located in Trent Vale, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. The school's oldest and original building in this location is a Grade II listed structure which was previously a residential property before it was bought by the Christian Brothers in 1931.

Stoke-on-Trent (often abbreviated to Stoke) is a city and unitary authority area in Staffordshire, England, with an area of 36 square miles (93 km2). In 2021, the city had an estimated population of 258,400. It is the largest settlement in Staffordshire and is surrounded by the towns of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Alsager, Kidsgrove and Biddulph, which form a conurbation around the city. The city is polycentric, formed from the federation of six towns in 1910. It took its name from the town of Stoke-upon-Trent where the main centre of government and the principal railway station in the district were located. Hanley is the primary commercial centre. The other four towns which form the city are Burslem, Tunstall, Longton and Fenton. The home of the pottery industry in England, it is known as The Potteries. It is a centre for service industries and distribution centres. It formerly had a primarily heavy industry sector.

The Bet365 Stadium (stylised as bet365 Stadium) is an all-seater football stadium in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England and the home of EFL Championship club Stoke City. The stadium was previously called the Britannia Stadium but was renamed on 1 June 2016 when the club entered into a new stadium-naming-rights agreement with its parent company, Bet365. It has a capacity of 30,089 following the completion of expansion works in 2017.The stadium was built in 1998 at a cost of £14.8 million as a replacement for the Victoria Ground. Former player Sir Stanley Matthews' ashes were buried beneath the centre circle of the pitch following his death in February 2000; he had officially opened the stadium on 30 August 1997. In European competitions it is known as the Stoke Ground due to UEFA regulations on sponsorships.

The Stoke-on-Trent Regional College of Art was one of three colleges that were merged in 1971 to form North Staffordshire Polytechnic (later renamed as Staffordshire Polytechnic and now Staffordshire University). The College of Art achieved Regional Art College status after the Second World War, but its roots lay in the nineteenth century as it was formed from three of the Potteries´ art schools. Although the six towns which make up Stoke-on-Trent were a relatively small conurbation, each had its own art school: those at Fenton, Hanley and Tunstall had closed by the time the Regional College of Art was created, leaving Burslem, Longton and Stoke.

Trent Vale is a suburb located on the outskirts of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England. It is bordered on the south by Hanford, to the west by Clayton, to the north by Newcastle-under-Lyme, to the south east by Oakhill and Penkhull to the north east. The ward it is under is called 'Springfields and Trent Vale'. The population of the ward at the 2011 census was 6,816.The area is home to the Clayton Wood Training Ground, owned by Stoke City FC. Employment is provided locally by the Royal Stoke University Hospital Trent Vale has a church called St John the Evangelist Church, Trent Vale erected in the early Gothic style in 1843. The architect was Philip Wooton. The main road through Trent Vale is the A34, which runs from north to south through the main centre of Trent Vale.

Penkhull is a district of the city of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, part of Penkhull and Stoke electoral ward, and Stoke Central parliamentary constituency. Penkhull is a conservation area, and includes Grade II listed buildings such as the church and Greyhound Inn public house.

Stoke railway works was set up in 1864 by the North Staffordshire Railway in the city of Stoke-on-Trent in the county of Staffordshire, England. The railway's first engines were supplied by a variety of outside manufacturers: Robert Stephenson and Company, Vulcan Foundry, Hudswell Clarke, Kitson and Company, Neilson and Company, as well as Sharp Brothers and Company who supplied six, including "Dragon" which opened the line in 1848. These were of the class known as "Little Sharpes". By 1864, the railway owned 64 locomotives. In 1868 the works was ready to build new machines, producing three 0-6-0 tank locomotives similar to a Hudswell Clarke design. New building finished when the LMS took over, and it closed in 1927, with the work transferring to Crewe. The site and almost all of the old building now makes up Hyde Park Industrial Estate
