Andrew Johnson National Cemetery

Andrew Johnson National Historic Site is a National Historic Site in Greeneville, Tennessee, maintained by the National Park Service. It was established to honor Andrew Johnson, the 17th president of the United States, who became president after Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. The site includes two of Johnson's homes, his tailor shop, and his grave site within the Andrew Johnson National Cemetery. The cemetery also includes the interments of Johnson's wife, Eliza McCardle Johnson, and son Colonel Robert Johnson. David T. Patterson, a United States Senator from Tennessee, and his son Andrew J. Patterson, who was instrumental in securing historic designation for the Greeneville properties associated with Andrew Johnson, were among others buried in the cemetery. The site was authorized by Congress as a U.S. National Monument in 1935, established on April 27, 1942, and redesignated a National Historic Site on December 11, 1963.

St. James Episcopal Church is an Episcopal church in Greeneville, Tennessee, United States. The St. James congregation was organized in 1842 as the "Greeneville Parish, Greene County," by a small group of faithful Episcopalians who gathered for worship at the Greene County Courthouse. They were admitted to the 1848 Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Tennessee, and subsequently were approved as a formal parish at the diocesan convention in July 1849. The parish constructed its present church building in 1850, modified it in 1894, and further enlarged the structure in 1951. It is said to be one of Tennessee's oldest churches. Between 1852 and 1901, St. James experienced great turmoil, having to close its doors for 18 months from 1873 to 1875. During this period St. James lapsed into mission status and did not regain its standing as a parish until 1957.

Greeneville High School (GHS) is a high school in Greeneville, Tennessee, a town most known as the place in which U.S. President Andrew Johnson began his political career as the city mayor. It is part of the Town of Greeneville City School System. In 2008, it was named as a Blue Ribbon School, the only high school in Tennessee to receive such honor that year.

The State of Franklin (also the Free Republic of Franklin or the State of Frankland) was an unrecognized proposed state located in present-day East Tennessee, in the United States. Franklin was created in 1784 from part of the territory west of the Appalachian Mountains that had been offered by North Carolina as a cession to Congress to help pay off debts related to the American War for Independence. It was founded with the intent of becoming the 14th state of the new United States. Franklin's first capital was Jonesborough. After the summer of 1785, the government of Franklin (which was by then based in Greeneville), ruled as a "parallel government" running alongside (but not harmoniously with) a re-established North Carolina bureaucracy. Franklin was never admitted into the union. The extra-legal state existed for only about four and a half years, ostensibly as a republic, after which North Carolina reassumed full control of the area. The creation of Franklin is novel, in that it resulted from both a cession (an offering from North Carolina to Congress) and a secession (seceding from North Carolina, when its offer to Congress was not acted upon and the original cession was rescinded).

It is anchored by Belk Outlet Store, Hobby Lobby, Ross, and Burke's Outlet with Hibbett Sports as a junior anchor. JCPenney closed on July 31, 2017.

New Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church is a historic church building near Greeneville in rural Greene County, Tennessee, United States. The New Bethel congregation formed in 1839 after 38 citizens of Greene County successfully petitioned the Knoxville Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church for the organization of a new congregation. The church building was constructed in 1841 on a 4-acre (1.6 ha) tract donated by John Harmon. Funds for its construction were donated by James Carter, a local resident who had aspired to join the ministry, but died before he could realize his dream.The building is of wood frame construction with rural Vernacular Greek Revival styling that stresses simplicity. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
