Aeroflot Flight 217 was a non-scheduled international passenger flight from Orly Airport in Paris to Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow, with a stopover at Shosseynaya Airport (now Pulkovo Airport) in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg). On 13 October 1972, the Ilyushin Il-62 airliner operating the flight crashed on approach to Sheremetyevo, with the loss of all 164 passengers and crew of 10. At the time, it was the world's deadliest civil aviation disaster, until it was surpassed by the Kano air disaster in 1973. As of 2023, this remains the second-deadliest accident involving an Il-62, after LOT Flight 5055, and the second-deadliest on Russian soil, after Aeroflot Flight 3352.

Iksha (Russian: И́кша) is an urban locality (a work settlement) in Dmitrovsky District of Moscow Oblast, Russia, located 45 kilometers (28 mi) north of Moscow along the Dmitrov highway and the Moscow Canal, and is a junction of the Savyolovo Railway. Population: 3,721 (2010 Russian census); 3,738 (2002 Census); 4,619 (1989 Soviet census). The settlement was founded during the construction of the railroad from Moscow to Dmitrov in 1889. It further developed due to the construction of the Moscow Canal in the 1930s. The main point of interest is a cascade of Moscow Canal locks on the Iksha Reservoir built in Socialist Classicism style.

The Samoryadovka is 13 kilometers (8.1 mi) in length. It flows through the work settlement of Nekrasovsky and the villages of Laryovo and Lyskovo, and then flows into the Ucha at the village of Sukharevo.

Lobnya is a terminus railway station for Line D1 of the Moscow Central Diameters in Moscow Oblast and intermediate for other trains towards Dmitrov and other cities. It was opened in 1901 and will be rebuilt in 2021 - 2024.

Chashnikovo (Russian: Чашниково) is a rural locality (a village) located in the southeast of the Solnechnogorski District, in the central part of the Moscow Oblast, about 34 km southeast of the city of Solnechnogorsk, 12 km from the Moscow Ring Road, just north of Sheremetyevo Airport on the left bank of the Meshcherikha River, which flows into the Klyazma. There are 5 streets in the village - Novaya, Promyshlennaya, Tsentralnaya, Shkolnaya and Kolesny proezd, 3 microdistricts, a garden partnership, a dacha partnership and a dacha cooperative are registered. The nearest settlements are the villages of Isakovo, Nosovo and Perepechino. It is connected by direct bus service to Sheremetyevo Airport, as well as to the towns of Lobnya, Khimki and Dolgoprudny (routes No. 21, 41, 48 and 38). The Chashnikovo estate is an architectural monument of federal significance. It includes a house for servants, a stable, a fence, a park and an outbuilding (a parochial school).
