London Apprentice

Trewhiddle is a small settlement in south Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It lies in the civil parish of Pentewan Valley and the ecclesiastical parish of St Austell. The nearest town is St Austell, approximately one mile to the north. The Trewhiddle Hoard (see below) has given its name to a Trewhiddle style of decoration in Anglo-Saxon art of the 9th century.

Levalsa Meor is a hamlet in Cornwall, England, UK. It is half a mile south of London Apprentice and 2.5 miles (4.0 km) south-west from St Austell. It is in the civil parish of Pentewan Valley.

Tregorrick (Cornish: Tregorrek) is a hamlet south of St Austell in mid Cornwall, England, United Kingdom.The hamlet was part of the Penrice estate and today consists of some 52 dwellings and has a population of approximately 65 people. There is some evidence of tin smelting at the bottom of the village near the river and Pentewan road. Several of the houses in the hamlet are constructed in cob and are some 300 years old. There are some 15 houses which were built in the 1960s. The village is dissected by a series of footpaths and narrow lanes. There are no shops, church or pub in the village; however, there is a strong tradition of self-reliance, barter and community action.

CHAOS Radio (formerly known as Radio St Austell Bay and RSAB, often incorrectly called St Austell Bay Radio) is a non-profit, community radio station. The radio station is funded by a combination of grants from the National Lottery and the Arts Council, alongside a small amount of commercial advertising and sponsorship. Partners include the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and the Cornish Guardian. All of the partners present shows on the station, alongside the regular DJs. RSAB ran a Short Term RSL in February 2006 and presented their community programmes for 2 weeks. The response to the station suggested a desire for such a full-time service. RSAB's signal from Tregorrick Park (90 metres AMSL) could be picked up as far away as Plymouth whilst operating within OFCOM regulations. In February 2007 OFCOM granted Radio St Austell Bay a community radio station licence. The station started broadcasting on 28 January 2008, on 105.6FM and online. RSAB broadcasts from a transmitter at Tregorrick Park (Home of St Austell RFC), which is in St Austell. As its name suggests, Radio St Austell Bay covers the whole area from Tywardreath in the east to Sticker in the west, without focusing solely on St Austell town itself. St Austell is one of the largest settlements and the St Austell Bay area (population 34,700) is the second largest conurbation in Cornwall, after the Camborne-Pool-Redruth area (population 55,400).Radio St Austell Bay also promotes and broadcasts live music events, in the bar adjacent to the studio at Tregorrick Park. Other live broadcasts have included The Eden Project's Arts Café, Tanya's Courage Sing For Courage 2008, and a 2-day broadcast from the offices of the Cornish Guardian in St Austell, for publicity. Starting in 2014 Radyo an Gernewegva, an hour-long magazine programme in the Cornish language, is being broadcast every Sunday at midday. In 2023 RSAB agreed a new partnership with a local group and relaunched as CHAOS Radio on 26th June 2023. The station will continue to offer a wide range of programming, featuring “Feel Good Music”, national and local news bulletins, talk shows, community events and live broadcasts on location. Also with the rebrand the station moved to a new space from the original Tregorrick Park Studio.

Polgooth (Cornish: Pollgoodh) is a former mining village in south Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It lies mainly in the parish of St Mewan and partly in the parish of St Ewe. The nearest town is St Austell two miles (3.5 km) to the north-east.

St Mewan (Cornish: Sen Mewen) is a civil parish and village in south Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The village is approximately one mile (1.6 km) west of St Austell. It is a small settlement, comprising the parish church, rectory, a school and nearby farms. St Mewan parish includes the villages of Sticker, Trelowth, Trewoon, and most of Polgooth. An electoral ward with the name St Mewan also exists. The population at the 2011 census was 3,402.

The St Austell River (Cornish: Dowr an Wynyk, meaning the little white river) properly known as the River Vinnick, but historically called The White River, is a 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) long river located in south Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. 50.337°N 4.793°W / 50.337; -4.793. The river has also been known as the "red river" due to tin streaming and mining activity upstream. The river drains the central southern section of the St Austell Moorland, the second largest granite mass in Cornwall, an upland formed in the Variscan orogeny, to the north of St Austell. The highest natural point of the moorland is Hensbarrow Beacon at 312 metres (1,024 ft); however modern china clay mining waste tips now rise above it. The name White River has been adopted locally because waste water from china clay quarrying and refining practices was emptied into the river giving it a white colour.The local term White River has given its name to the St Austell Town Centre Redevelopment Scheme, which is now called White River Place.

Earth Goddess is a ceramic sculpture in St Austell, Cornwall. It was created by ceramicist Sandy Brown. Earth Goddess was unveiled in June 2022 and is the tallest ceramic sculpture in the United Kingdom.

St Austell with Fowey (pronounced "foy") was a municipal borough in Cornwall, United Kingdom. It was created in 1968 by a merger of the historic borough of Fowey and the much more populous St Austell urban district. 50.338°N 4.794°W / 50.338; -4.794 In 1974 St Austell with Fowey was merged under the Local Government Act 1972 into the new Restormel district, becoming an unparished area until 1979. In 1979 Fowey became a civil parish. In April 2009 four new parishes were formed to create St Austell town council, St Austell Bay civil parish, Carlyon civil parish and Pentewan Valley civil parish.

Restormel (Cornish: Rostorrmel) was a borough of Cornwall, England, one of the six administrative divisions that made up the county. Its council was based in St Austell; its other towns included Newquay. The borough was named after Restormel Castle. It was formed on 1 April 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, by a merger of the borough of St. Austell with Fowey, Newquay urban district and St Austell Rural District. The name Restormel comes from Cornish, meaning the king's tower hill.The motto of the borough, in Cornish, is Ro an mor hag an tyr, meaning "From the sea and from the land". It recognises the borough's connection with the sea (fishing and tourism) and the land (china clay and agriculture). St Austell, the largest settlement in Cornwall, did not have a Parish/Town Council. The district was abolished as part of the 2009 structural changes to local government in England on 1 April 2009.
