Today the area, located along County Route 524 at the Millstone–Upper Freehold township line, consists mainly of single-family homes in forested rolling terrain.

As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 10,376, a decrease of 190 (−1.8%) from the 2010 census count of 10,566, which in turn reflected an increase of 1,596 (+17.8%) from the 8,970 counted in the 2000 census.The township was named after the Millstone River, a major tributary of the Raritan River, and whose name originated from an incident in which a millstone was dropped into the river. Upper Freehold Baptist Meeting, also known as Ye Olde Yellow Meeting House, is a historic church located on Yellow Meetinghouse and Red Valley roads in the Red Valley section of Upper Freehold Township near Imlaystown in Monmouth County, New Jersey. It is the oldest Baptist meetinghouse in the state. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 21, 1975 for its significance in religion and exploration/settlement.

Roosevelt is a borough in western Monmouth County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 808, a decrease of 74 (−8.4%) from the 2010 census count of 882, which in turn reflected a decline of 51 (−5.5%) from the 933 counted in the 2000 census.Located at the cross-roads between the Delaware Valley region to the south and the Raritan Valley region to the north in the center of the state, the borough was established as Jersey Homesteads by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on May 29, 1937, from portions of Millstone Township. Red Valley is an unincorporated community located within Upper Freehold Township in Monmouth County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The settlement is located at the intersection of County Route 526 and Red Valley Road (south) and Yellow Meetinghouse Road (north) near the township's eastern border with Millstone Township. Except for some single-family houses located along the roads in the area, the area is primarily made up of farmland (both agricultural and horse farms). The Yellow Meeting House Cemetery is located in Red Valley, with several early settlers interred there.

Carrs Tavern is an unincorporated community in Millstone Township in Monmouth County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is located at the intersection of County Route 526 and County Route 571. Author Caren Lissner wrote about the settlement in her essay A Rumble and a Scream: "I took Carrs Tavern Road (though I couldn't find the tavern).": 52

Schools in the East Windsor district attended by Roosevelt students (with 2021–22 enrollment data from the National Center for Education Statistics) are Melvin H. Kreps Middle School with 1,194 students in grades 6–8 and Hightstown High School with 1,621 students in grades 9–12.

Perrineville is an unincorporated community located within Millstone Township in Monmouth County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The area is served as United States Postal Service ZIP Code 08535. As of the 2000 United States Census, the population for ZIP Code Tabulation Area 08535 was 2,073. Perrineville is located 157 feet (48 m) above sea level and is centered on Perrineville Road (County Route 1) near Agress Road. A lake in the center of the community, Perrineville Lake, is a preserved area maintained by the Monmouth County Park System.Perrineville is home to the Perrineville Jewish Center, a synagogue established in 1910 in the center of the community. More than 130 families attend prayer services regularly, led by Rabbi Sheldon Schevelowitz.

New Jersey's 4th congressional district is a congressional district that stretches along the New Jersey Shore. It has been represented by Republican Chris Smith since 1981, the second-longest currently serving member of the US House of Representatives and the longest serving member of Congress from New Jersey in history. Although the 4th district had a presence in Mercer County for decades, it lost its two towns in the county (Hamilton and Robbinsville) following the redistricting process in late 2021, which was based on the 2020 census. The district is currently contained to Monmouth County and Ocean County. With a Cook Partisan Voting Index rating of R+14, it is the most Republican district in New Jersey, and it is also the only one that did not elect a Democrat since 2018.
