The Mallows

East Farm, also known as the Archibald M. Brown Estate, is a national historic district located at Head of the Harbor in Suffolk County, New York. The district encompasses an estate with seven contributing buildings and one contributing site. The estate house was originally built in the 18th century about 1690 and as the Smith family farmhouse, then greatly enlarged by its architect-owner in 1910. It is a wood framed, clapboarded structure with a wood shingle roof, and Colonial in style. Also on the property are a contributing barn with shed, milk house, two cottages, and barn and garage complex. The estate also retains an intact formal garden.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

The Stony Brook Grist Mill is a Registered Historic Place property in Stony Brook, Suffolk County, New York. Its construction in 1699 created the Mill Pond astride the Brookhaven-Smithtown boundary. The mill structure itself dates back to at least circa 1751. Today the Ward Melville Heritage Organization owns and operates the mill as a working mill museum.

St. James Chapel, now All Souls Episcopal Church, is a historic chapel on the east side of Main Street (Suffolk CR 68), 250 feet north of Stony Brook Lane in Stony Brook, New York. The church was built in 1889 and is a gable-roofed frame building clad in wood shingles. It features an open, octagonal bell tower, cross gables, and an arcaded porch. It was designed by architect Stanford White.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

The Long Island Museum of American Art, History, and Carriages, known as the Long Island Museum (LIM), is a nine-acre museum located in Stony Brook, New York. The LIM serves the Long Island community by preserving and displaying its collection of art, historical artifacts, and carriages; providing educational and public programming; and collaborating with a variety of other arts and cultural organizations.

Gamecock Cottage is an historic building located at Stony Brook in Brookhaven Town, in Suffolk County, New York on Long Island. It was built in 1876 for storage of oars and sliding-seat rowboats and is the only remaining wooden beach cottage that was part of West Meadow Beach. It is located at the southernmost point of a peninsula within what is now part of the West Meadow Wetlands Reserve, as the official public beach is now restricted to the north. The Gamecock Cottage sits at the southern endpoint of West Meadow Lane, which was once called Trustees Road. It is a 1+1⁄2-story building with a front-gabled roof with a four-sided wooden cupola located in the center of the ridge line in the Gothic Revival style. It is 20 feet, 5 inches wide and 25 feet, 5 inches long and covered with board and batten siding.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Mills Pond District is a national historic district located at St. James in Suffolk County, New York. The district includes nine contributing buildings. Prominent buildings within the district are the Mills Homestead (1837), Wegrzyn Barn, ice house, Wegrzyn House (c. 1730), Dougherty House (c. 1730), Papadakos House (c. 1820), Gyrodene Gambrel Roofed House (c. 1800), and Perry House (c. 1880).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The William Sidney Mount House is a historic house at 1556 Stony Brook Road in Stony Brook, New York. Built in 1725 and enlarged in 1810, it was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965 as the lifelong home of artist William Sidney Mount (1807–1868). The house is now owned by the Long Island Museum and is occasionally opened for tours.

West Meadow Beach Historic District is a peninsula of public parkland approximately 1.5 miles long and a former national historic district located in northwestern Stony Brook in Suffolk County, New York. The district through much of the 20th century contained 120 summer cottages built along West Meadow Beach on Long Island Sound. Most were constructed during the 1920s and 1930s (although some are dated much earlier and others were rebuilt as late as the 1980s), under deeds provided as political favors. In 1979 a state court ruled that the cottages were illegal, as the underlying property was public parkland. All but four of the cottages were removed in 2004. The remaining ones are being adapted for public purposes.

Hawkins Homestead, also known as the Zachariah Hawkins Homestead, is a historic home located at 165 Christian Avenue in Stony Brook in Brookhaven Town, Suffolk County, New York. It was built originally about 1660 and is a saltbox-form dwelling. It has two principal components: a mid-17th-century 1+1⁄2-story house to the west and a large mid-18th-century (c. 1720 and 1750) and early-19th-century (c. 1812) 2+1⁄2-story addition to the east.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. It is south-west of the Bethel–Christian Avenue–Laurel Hill Historical District at 165 Christian Ave.

Three Village Central School District is a school district located on Long Island, New York. It serves Setauket, East Setauket, Stony Brook, Poquott, Head of the Harbor, Old Field, and small portions of Port Jefferson, Saint James and Lake Grove. Its name came from the older, original "Three Villages" of Setauket, Stony Brook and Old Field after the merger of the Stony Brook and Setauket school districts in the 1960s. Ward Melville, a local philanthropist, was a proponent of the Three Village school district, and contributed land for its new schools. The school district is renowned for its InSTAR program, a three-year science research program which produces record numbers of Regeneron Science Talent Search (formerly Intel STS) semifinalists. In 2008, the district's program produced 13 semifinalists, the most semifinalists from a single school in the entire nation. The district's Intellectually Gifted (I.G.) program is housed at its Nassakeag Elementary School. The Three Village CSD has been represented at nationals for Science Olympiad and by various varsity sports teams.The current Superintendent of Schools is Dr. Kevin Scanlon.

Nathaniel Longbotham House is a historic home located at 1541 Stony Brook Road, in Stony Brook in Brookhaven Town, Suffolk County, New York. It is composed of three visually and physically distinct sections that are joined gable to gable and diminish in height from east to west. The earliest and smaller section was built before 1690. It is a post, beam, and stud wall framed 1+1⁄2-story half-house, 20 feet long and 26 feet deep. Also on the property is an early-19th-century shed and late-17th- or early-18th-century well.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Head of the Harbor is a village in Suffolk County, on the North Shore of Long Island, New York, United States. The population was 1,472 at the time of the 2010 census.The Village of Head of the Harbor is located entirely within the Town of Smithtown.
