Galleria Tower

Riverchase Galleria, locally known as The Galleria, is a large, super–regional shopping mall and mixed use development in Hoover, Alabama, in the Greater Birmingham metropolitan area. It is ranked 43rd on the list of largest shopping malls in the United States. It is the largest enclosed shopping center in Alabama. Located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 31 (Montgomery Highway) and Interstate 459, the Riverchase Galleria complex includes the region's only Costco, and also includes the 15-story, 1,700,000-square-foot (160,000 m2) Hyatt Regency, and the 17-story, 285,000-square-foot (26,500 m2) Galleria Tower office building. The tower includes the headquarters of Walter Energy, Inc. The mall's anchor stores are JCPenney, Von Maur, Macy's, Belk , and Dave & Buster's. There are two vacant anchor stores which were once Sears and Belk Children's and Home.

Hoover's territory is along the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The Birmingham Barons Minor League Baseball team, which traces its history to 1885, played its home games at the 10,800-seat Hoover Metropolitan Stadium until 2013, when it moved to Regions Field in the Parkside District of Birmingham.

Aldridge Gardens is a 30-acre (121,000 m2) garden, prominently featuring hydrangeas, located on the former Aldridge Estate in Hoover, Alabama, United States.Local nurseryman Eddie Aldridge purchased the property from the Coxe family in 1977 as a residence. Aldridge, who along with his father, Loren L. Aldridge, found and patented Hydrangea quercifolia 'Snowflake', a double-flowering form of Oakleaf Hydrangea. In 1997 the gardens were conveyed to the City of Hoover and formally dedicated to the public. The site is now managed by a non-profit organization. A new master plan was approved in 1997 to guide the future development of the gardens. The gardens contain extensive hydrangea plantings, as well as a five acre (20,234 m2) lake with walking trails. Public lectures and educational activities are scheduled throughout the year.

Acton is an unincorporated community in Shelby County, in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is partially located within the city of Hoover. It is not to be confused with the village of Acton, approximately 6+1⁄2 miles to the northeast in Jefferson County.

Hunter Street Baptist Church (established 1907) is a Baptist Church located in Hoover, Alabama, a suburb of Birmingham. It is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. As of 2018, the church has a membership of approximately 4,500. The church is known for its motto "Hunter Street is not a building, but a people; people committed to God and to each other." The Pastor, Buddy Gray, preaches from the Bible. Adults grow in faith in Small groups and Bible studies. The Arts Academy offers music lessons, kids can play sports, and young children learn in Weekday Education. Dr. Buddy Gray is the senior pastor, having served since 1986. Gray previously served as the church's youth pastor from 1978-1980 while he was a student at Samford University.

Hoover High School is a four-year public high school in the Birmingham, Alabama suburb of Hoover. Hoover replaced the former W.A. Berry High School. It is one of two high schools in the Hoover City School System and one of three International Baccalaureate schools in the Birmingham-Hoover Metropolitan Area. The school colors are orange, black, and white, and the athletic teams are called the Buccaneers. Hoover competes in AHSAA Class 7A athletics.Hoover is the largest high school in the state of Alabama, with an enrollment of 2,770 students. Hoover City Schools is the public school system serving the city of Hoover, Alabama within the Birmingham, Alabama, metropolitan area. Seventeen schools comprise the 55 square-mile system: 10 elementary schools, three middle schools, one intermediate school and two high schools. A five-member Board of Education, appointed by the Hoover City Council, acts as the governing body of the school system. Hoover City Schools has more National Board-Certified Teachers than any other system in Alabama; more Alabama Teachers of the Year than any other system in Alabama; and ACT scores above state and national averages. The system has a strong focus on instructional technology and maintains safe, clean facilities. The system has consistently grown in student population since its inception in the late 1980s.
