New Hope Baptist Church is a church in Newark, New Jersey, located at 106 Sussex Avenue in University Heights.

The Estelle & Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center is a 1,600-seat multi-purpose arena in Newark, New Jersey, USA. Built in 1967, it was the home of the New Jersey Institute of Technology Highlanders men's and women's basketball, volleyball, fencing and swim teams until the Wellness and Events Center opened.The multi-purpose arena has a main hall area with three basketball/volleyball courts which could be independently partitioned for simultaneous tournament hosting and practice. Other amenities includes a medical clinic, a 25-yard indoor swimming pool, a fitness center, two weight rooms, sauna, training room, locker rooms, racquetball courts and a two-lane jogging track. NJIT played its last game at the arena on February 23, 2017, an 88–87 win over USC Upstate in front of a crowd of 677. The team has since moved to the new Wellness and Events Center starting with the 2018-19 season.

The Warren Street/NJIT station is one of four underground stations on the Newark City Subway Line of the Newark Light Rail. It is the furthest station from Downtown Newark that is underground. The station is owned and service is operated by New Jersey Transit. The station has entrances on both sides of Lock Street, just north of Warren Street in University Heights. It is decorated with beige tiles and colored tiles for borders, mosaics and street indicator signs. This station is not wheelchair accessible. The nearest accessible stations are Washington Street and Orange Street.

The old Essex County Jail is located in the University Heights section of Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The jail is Essex County's oldest public building and a national landmark of value for its architectural and social history. The complex consists of about 20 structures of various size, age, and function ranging in date from the 1830s to 1930s. Collectively, they represent the evolution of American prison history over 100 years. For the quality of its architecture, its social history, and its links to the 1967 Newark Riots, this jail was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 3, 1991.The site has been abandoned since 1971 and remains property of the City of Newark.

The Warren Street School, a landmark eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, was located at 197-207 Warren Street in Newark, New Jersey. Designed by Newark-based architect Jeremiah O'Rourke, it was the third oldest public school in the country’s third oldest city. Developer RISE Real Estate demolished the landmark in 2021 at the direction of the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Newark Renaissance House, Inc. (NRH) is tax-exempt, fully licensed, not-for-profit specialized therapeutic agency funded by the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Addiction Services. NRH caters to adolescents, pregnant women and families whose lives are affected by substance abuse. NRH was founded in 1975 as a state-approved, privately-funded, residential drug treatment community in Newark, New Jersey. In the years since its founding, NRH has added capacity and services, expanding its facilities and its offerings to include residential substance abuse treatment for adolescent boys, for pregnant women, and for mothers with small children, drug abuse prevention training for at-risk children and teenagers, day treatment for adolescent girls and boys, and outpatient care for individuals and families. Although it remains in the same geographic location as it always has been, NRH has grown over the years from one to three operational buildings. The primary treatment program at NRH is residential treatment for adolescent boys dealing with alcohol and/or drug abuse and co-occurring mental, emotional, and/or environmental issues, disorders, or conditions. NRH also specializes in treating addictive behaviors in pregnant women and in women with pre-school-aged children. The populations it serves are considered by experts to be among the most vulnerable in the community, and among those whose substance abuse activity is growing most rapidly. NRH emphasizes family treatment within a context of real world community environs. It employs a community therapeutic approach to treating the disease of addiction and other related conduct. All of NRH’s programs follow intensive schedules made up of individual and group therapy where treatment involves a psychotherapeutic approach and the 12 steps and incorporates help with codependency if necessary.

J. Malcolm Simon Stadium was the home of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT Highlanders) men's and women's soccer teams. The soccer teams played their home games and practice on campus at the all-weather Sprinturf-surfaced Lubetkin Field (which was in the stadium). The soccer field/stadium included lighting for nighttime play, bleacher seating for more than 1,000 spectators, a press box and a scoreboard. The NJIT Baseball team and NJIT Track teams also used the facility for practice. The stadium was demolished in 2015 for the construction of NJIT's new Wellness and Events Center which opened in the Fall of 2017.

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is a public research university in Newark, New Jersey with a graduate-degree-granting satellite campus in Jersey City. Founded in 1881 with the support of local industrialists and inventors especially Edward Weston, NJIT opened as Newark Technical School (NTS) in 1885 with 88 students. The school grew into a classic engineering college – Newark College of Engineering (NCE) – and then with the addition of a School of Architecture in 1973, into a polytechnic university that now hosts five colleges and one school. It has participated in the McNair Scholars Program since 1999. It is a designated Asian American Native American Pacific Islander serving institution (AANAPISI). With 19 varsity teams, the NCAA Division I "Highlanders" mainly compete in the America East Conference.

The Weston Museum is located within the Van Houten Library at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in the University Heights section of Newark, New Jersey. The small museum contains items developed and manufactured by Edward Weston, as well as instruments and devices from his laboratory. A contemporary of Thomas Edison, Weston was a scientist, an inventor, and a founding member of the board of trustees of the university and the Weston Electric Company. Dr. Weston's rare book collection is also maintained available to scholars and others interested in the history of science and technology.

The Norfolk Street station is an open-cut station on the Newark City Subway Line of the Newark Light Rail, and the first following the line leaving the Raymond Boulevard tunnel. It is located on Norfolk Street just south of Central Avenue in University Heights.

The Wellness and Events Center (WEC) is 220,000 sq ft. sports and recreation facility that includes a 3,500 seat basketball arena in Newark, New Jersey. It was built at a cost of $102 million by the New Jersey Institute of Technology. The Wellness and Events Center is the home court of the NJIT Highlanders who joined the NCAA Division I American East Conference on July 1, 2020. The WEC replaced the former arena of the Highlanders, the Fleisher Center. The new arena broke ground on November 12, 2015, and opened in time for the 2017–18 basketball season.
