Hakuninmaa

Kaarela (Swedish: Kårböle) is a subdistrict in a Western major district of Helsinki, Finland. Kaarela is split into four subareas: Kannelmäki (12,569 inhabitants), Maununneva (2,501 inhabitants), Malminkartano (8,538 inhabitants) and Hakuninmaa (2,870 inhabitants) and has a total population of 26,414.

Kannelmäki (Swedish: Gamlas, Helsinki slang: Kantsu) is a sub-neighbourhood of the neighbourhood of Kaarela in Helsinki, Finland. Kannelmäki is located a bit more than ten kilometres from the centre of Helsinki, and is bounded by Kehä I in the south, Hämeenlinnanväylä in the east, and the Mätäjoki river in the west and north. It is a part of the Western major district. In early 2006, Kannelmäki had 12 488 inhabitants.The streets in Kannelmäki are named after music and villages in Ostrobothnia. The area was originally named Vanhainen – Gamlas, which comes from the village of Gamlas originally located at the site, and its Finnish translation. Because of the wishes of the local inhabitants, the name was changed to Kannelmäki – Gamlas in 1959. The singular church of Kannelmäki was completed in 1968.Services in Kannelmäki are concentrated in the shopping centre designed by Erkki Karvinen and opened in 1959, the Prisma hypermarket building (originally opened in 1973 as Eka-Market, then as Maxi) and the surroundings of the Kannelmäki railway station. Prisma was expanded into a larger complex called the Shopping Centre Kaari in October 2013, now containing a department store, a restaurant area and about 80 specialty stores. It is the fifth largest shopping centre in the Greater Helsinki area and the ninth largest in Finland. The Kannelmäki railway station is one of the stations on the Ring Rail Line. It is located next to the cultural centre Kanneltalo.

Kannelmäki railway station (Finnish: Kannelmäen rautatieasema, Swedish: Gamlas järnvägsstation) is a railway station on the Helsinki commuter rail network located in northern Helsinki, Finland. It is located approximately nine kilometres to the north/northwest of Helsinki Central railway station. The station is located in the district of Kannelmäki, between the stations of Pohjois-Haaga and Malminkartano, serving the I/P commuter line between Central Helsinki and Vantaankoski. The station has two platforms, one for southbound and one for northbound trains. There are four lifts available and several local bus connections are available near the station. In October 2008 the platforms were fitted with information screens.

Maununneva (Finnish), Magnuskärr (Swedish) is a neighborhood of Helsinki, Finland. It is a subdivision of the Kaarela district in Helsinki.

Pohjois-Haaga (Finnish), Norra Haga (Swedish, translates as Northern Haaga) is a neighborhood of Helsinki, Finland. On east it borders with Hämeenlinna's highway. Etelä-Haaga (Southern Haaga) is in its southern side, separated by park areas and road Metsäläntie. Lassila district is on the west side, separated by road Kaupintie and parks on the southern side of road Aku Korhosen tie. Among central places of Pohjois-Haaga is Thalianaukio (Thalia's square) with a taxi station. Light traffic bridges over Hämeenlinna's Highway connect Pohjois-Haaga to Helsinki's central park and Pirkkola's sport center. The district has the population of around 9 500 (1.1.2014) and around 4 000 working places (2012). Many of the residents have been lived in the area since its building in the 1950s. Thus the average age of residents is relatively high, many of them being over 65 years old. The highest point of Pohjois-Haaga's territory is the rocks at the northern side of road Ida Aalbergin tie (44 metres above the sea). The lowest point is at the border of Etelä-Haaga, next to Hämeenlinna's highway (10,5 metres above the sea). The distance to the centre of Helsinki is around nine kilometres. Pohjois-Haaga Seura ry founded in 1956 is a district level organisation of residents.

Pohjois-Haaga railway station (Finnish: Pohjois-Haagan rautatieasema, Swedish: Norra Haga järnvägsstation) is a railway station on the Helsinki commuter rail network located in northern Helsinki, Finland. It is located about eight kilometres to the north/northwest of Helsinki Central railway station. The Pohjois-Haaga station is located in the district of Lassila, between the stations of Huopalahti and Kannelmäki. It is the first station after the split between the Vantaankoski track and the rantarata track towards Turku. Near the station, from underneath the track on the bridge, is a light traffic route, which can be used to follow the train tracks all the way to the city centre. On the other hand, the tracks cannot be followed to the north towards Kannelmäki, because after Pohjois-Haaga, the tracks continue on a narrow bridge. Sometimes, pedestrians use the bridge anyway to get to the other side of Kehä I. This has caused dangerous situations. The Helsinki City Transport takes responsibility of the station.

Malminkartano railway station (Finnish: Malminkartanon rautatieasema, Swedish: Malmgårds järnvägsstation) is a railway station on the Helsinki commuter rail network located in northern Helsinki, Finland. It is located approximately eleven kilometres to the north of Helsinki Central railway station. The station is served by circular lines I and P, between the stations of Kannelmäki and Myyrmäki.

Malminkartano (Malmgård in Swedish) is a suburb and a quarter in the western part of Helsinki city, part of the Kaarela neighbourhood. Vantaankosken rata, the railway of Vantaankoski, has a station in Malminkartano. The suburb's artificial hill, Malminkartanonhuippu or Malminkartanon täyttömäki is the highest point of Helsinki. Malminkartano is often called Maltsu by young people.

The Pohjois-Haaga mass grave is a grave in Lassila, Helsinki, Finland, near the Pohjois-Haaga railway station that dates to the time of the Finnish Civil War in 1918. 28 men of the Red Guards or civilians thought to have been affiliated with them executed by the German Baltic Sea Division soldiers are buried at the site.

Marttila (Swedish: Martas) is a neighbourhood located in Pitäjänmäki, Western Helsinki, Finland. As of 2008, Marttila has 357 inhabitants living in a 0.38 km2 area. It is neighboured by Pitäjänmäen teollisuusalue, Reimarla and Lassila

Valimo railway station (Finnish: Valimon rautatieasema, Swedish: Gjuteriets järnvägsstation) is a station on the Helsinki commuter rail network located in the western part of Helsinki, Finland, between Huopalahti and Pitäjanmäki stations. It is located about 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) to the northwest/west of Helsinki Central railway station, in the core of the Pitäjänmäki industrial area.

The Pitäjänmäki industrial area (Finnish: Pitäjänmäen yritysalue, Swedish: Sockenbacka företagsområde) is a western neighborhood of Helsinki, Finland. It is located in Pitäjänmäki district. As of 2008, the Pitäjänmäki industrial area, has 2,415 inhabitants living in an area of 1.38 km2.
