Rockland Country Day School

Congers is a suburban hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Clarkstown, Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located north of Valley Cottage, east of New City, across Lake DeForest, south of Haverstraw, and west of the Hudson River. It lies 19 miles (31 km) north of New York City's Bronx boundary. As of the 2010 census, the CDP population was 8,363.

The Gilchrest Road crossing accident was a grade crossing accident that occurred on March 24, 1972, in the town of Clarkstown, New York, between the hamlets of Valley Cottage and Congers, roughly 25 miles (40 km) northwest of New York City. Five students from Valley Cottage were killed, and 44 others were injured. The Penn Central (formerly New York Central) railway crossing at Gilchrest Road West, just outside Valley Cottage, contained only crossbucks and lacked additional warning hardware, such as flashing lights, crossing gates or a warning bell. The railway line was also difficult for road vehicles to see due to the curvature of the road and lineside trees.

Lake DeForest, also called DeForest Lake,: 195–213  is a reservoir in Clarkstown, New York, created in 1956 by impounding the Hackensack River, which is a principal part of the water supply for Rockland County, New York and Northern New Jersey, mainly Bergen and Hudson counties. The reservoir is owned and operated by Suez North America, and is the most upstream of its reservoirs along the river's watershed, the others being Lake Tappan, the Woodcliff Lake Reservoir, and the Oradell Reservoir. It has a storage capacity of 5.6 billion gallons. Swimming and bathing are disallowed because the water is reserved for potable use.: 212  The lake is traversed by a causeway carrying Congers Road (CR 80).

Clarkstown High School North is a high school located in New City, New York, educating students in grades 9 through 12. Clarkstown North is one of two high schools in the Clarkstown Central School District (CCSD). Since 2006, North offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme to juniors and seniors.In 2015 U.S. News & World Report ranked Clarkstown North Senior High School with a silver award as the 135 Best High School in New York State and 1,329 nationally.

Rockland Lake State Park is a 1,133-acre (4.59 km2) state park located in the hamlets of Congers and Valley Cottage in the eastern part of the Town of Clarkstown in Rockland County, New York, United States. The park is located on a ridge of Hook Mountain above the west bank of the Hudson River. Included within the park is the 256-acre (1.04 km2) Rockland Lake.Development of the park as part of the Palisades Interstate Park system began in 1958. Rockland Lake State Park is functionally part of a continuous complex of parks that also includes Hook Mountain State Park, Nyack Beach State Park, and Haverstraw Beach State Park.

The H.R. Stevens House is located on Congers Road (Rockland County Route 80) in the New City section of the Town of Clarkstown, New York, United States. It is a stone house dating to the late 18th century. In the early 19th century, it was expanded with some wood frame upper stories added later. The interior was also renovated over the course of the century. It shows the convergence of Dutch and English building traditions in the later years of the colonial Hudson Valley. In 2005, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Haverstraw Beach State Park is a 73-acre (0.30 km2) state park located in the Haverstraw, New York. The park is included within the Palisades Interstate Park system and is functionally part of a continuous complex of parks that also includes Rockland Lake State Park, Hook Mountain State Park, and Nyack Beach State Park.

Valley Cottage is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Clarkstown, New York, United States. It is located northeast of West Nyack, northwest of Central Nyack east of Bardonia, south of Congers, northwest of Nyack, and west of Upper Nyack. The population was 9,107 at the 2010 census.

Centenary is a neighborhood in New City, New York, United States, the county seat of Rockland County. Located on the north-easternmost side of the hamlet, just south of Haverstraw, southeast of High Tor State Park, northwest of Dr. Davis Farm, and northeast of the neighborhood of Brownsell Corner. It is one of the most rural parts of New City. Centenary Church, now desanctified and converted to a residence, marks the historic center at South Mountain Road near the intersection of Old Route 304. Well-known residents have included Carlos Castaneda, who resided on High Tor Road in the 1970s.

Hook Mountain State Park is functionally part of a continuous complex of parks that also includes Rockland Lake State Park, Nyack Beach State Park, and Haverstraw Beach State Park.A central feature of the park is Hook Mountain, a 689-foot (210 m) summit overlooking Rockland Lake and the Hudson River.

Peter DePew House is a historic home in New City in Rockland County, New York. It is a 1+1⁄2-story dwelling built of locally quarried sandstone. The oldest section dates to about 1750. The property also has a large timber-framed barn.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Clarkstown is a town in Rockland County, New York, United States. The town is on the eastern border of the county, located north of the town of Orangetown, east of the town of Ramapo, south of the town of Haverstraw, and west of the Hudson River. As of the 2010 census, the town had a total population of 84,187. The community of New City, the county seat of Rockland County, is also the seat of town government and of the Clarkstown Police Department, the county sheriff's police office, and the county correctional facility. New City makes up about 41.47% of the town's population. In 2008, Clarkstown became one of 600 municipalities nationwide to sign the United States Mayor's Climate Protection Agreement to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to 7 percent below the 1990 levels by 2012.
