Alppikylä (Swedish: Alpbyn; literally means the "Alpine village") is a neighborhood in the northeastern part of Helsinki, Finland. It is located between the Tattarisuo neighborhood and the Helsinki–Lahti Highway (E75), near the Helsinki–Malmi Airport. It is classified as belonging to the Suurmetsä district. At the beginning of 2017, the area had a population of 1,478.

Tattarisuo (Finnish), Tattarmossen (Swedish) is a northeastern neighborhood of Helsinki, Finland, east of the Helsinki-Malmi airport. It has a population of 70 (in 2005), and contains 1084 jobs (December 2003). The neighbourhood consists mostly of small industry and warehouses. Many of the companies in the area deal with recycling metal. The woods in the area is known for their bird life and are popular among birdwatchers in Helsinki.

Kontula metro station (Finnish: Kontulan metroasema, Swedish: Gårdsbackas metrostation) is a ground-level station on the M2 line (Tapiola - Mellunmäki) of the Helsinki Metro. There are 273 bicycle and 53 car parking spaces at Kontula. The station serves the district of Kontula in East Helsinki. Kontula was opened on 21 October 1986 and was designed by architect bureau Toivo Karhunen Oy. It is located 1.4 kilometers north of Myllypuro metro station and 1.6 kilometers west of Mellunmäki metro station.

Kontula (Swedish: Gårdsbacka) is a quarter of Helsinki, Finland, part of the Mellunkylä neighbourhood. Kontula was built mostly in the 1960s and 1970s when more housing was required in Helsinki. Many people from the city centre moved to Kontula; due to its little higher than average concentration of government tenant housing complexes, immigrant and refugee population it is regarded as an average eastern Helsinki suburb.Kontula has generally been considered one of the most notorious suburbs in East Helsinki largely due to prevailing incidents of violence and drug dealing, the latter of which local youths actively run a drug trade near the shopping area and the metro station. Despite its mixed reputation, it might also be the clue to its attractiveness, because Kontula pops up in many movies, books, and songs.The metro was expanded to Kontula in 1986, which made the area easy to reach. The Kontula Metro Station is daily used by 20,000 people. In 2006, the Finnish Local Heritage Foundation picked Kontula as the Borough of the Year in Finland.

Malmi shooting range (Finnish: Malmin ampumarata) was a shooting range in the Malmi district of Helsinki, Finland, active from 1937 to 1993. The shooting range was built by the Finnish Army for the 1937 ISSF World Shooting Championships and was also used in the shooting events of the 1952 Summer Olympics.During the World War II, Malmi shooting range was an execution site. One of the persons shot in Malmi was Martta Koskinen, the last woman executed in Finland. The shooting range was closed in 1993. Today it is a residential and recreation area which is a part of the Kivikko district.

Vesala (Swedish: Ärvings) is a neighborhood in eastern Helsinki, Finland. It is a part of the Mellunkylä district. The residential housing in the area consists mostly of single-family houses built in the 1950s and 1960s and apartment buildings built in the 1980s.

Helsingin yhteislyseo (HYL) is a school in Kontula, Helsinki Finland consisting of a lower secondary school and an upper secondary school with over 50 teachers and 700 students in total. The school was founded in 1908 and it is privately maintained by Maanviljelyslyseo (Agricultural Lyceum). The school celebrated its 100th birthday in 2008. Helsingin yhteislyseo and Lapinlahden yhteislyseo relocated to a new building and to its present location on the Rintinpolku street in Kontula in 1971. The two schools joined to operate under the same name Helsingin yhteislyseo from 1974 onward. Upper secondary school applicants must choose between emphasized ability and art studies (830) and general studies (0176). Selection criteria are slightly higher for emphasized than general studies as they involve passing an entrance examination in sports, art or music. Students who pass may be at an advantage when applying for a future job or a student place once they graduate from Helsingin yhteislyseo.

Hakunila (Finnish: [ˈhɑkunilɑ]; Swedish: Håkansböle, Finland Swedish: [ˈhoːkɑːnsˌbøːle]), is a district and major region of the municipality of Vantaa, Finland, located within the eastern part of the city. The district has a population of 11,238 and a population density of 3,746 inhabitants per square kilometre (9,700/sq mi). The district is bordered to the west by Lahdenväylä (a constituent of the National road 4 (E75)), to the south by the Ring III (Finnish: Kehä III) beltway, to the east by the districts of Ojanko and Sotunki, and to the north by the district of Itä-Hakkila. Most of central Hakunila was built during the 1970s, and consists of high-rise residential tower blocks. The Hakunila major region consists of nine districts: the central Hakunila, Itä-Hakkila, Kuninkaanmäki, Länsimäki, Länsisalmi, Ojanko, Rajakylä, Sotunki, and Vaarala. As of January 2014, the Hakunila major region has a total population of 29,214 and a population density of 810 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,100/sq mi).

Helsinki-Malmi Airport (Finnish: Helsinki-Malmin lentoasema, Swedish: Helsingfors-Malm flygplats) (IATA: HEM, ICAO: EFHF) is an airfield in Helsinki, Finland, located in the district of Malmi, 5.4 NM (10.0 km; 6.2 mi) north-north-east of the city centre. It was opened in 1936. Until the opening of Helsinki-Vantaa Airport in 1952, it was the main airport of Helsinki and of Finland. After that, it was used for general aviation and flight training, and remained the second-busiest airport in Finland, as measured by the number of landings, after Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. The city of Helsinki, which owns the land the airport is located on, terminated its lease agreement for aviation purposes in December 2019, and its remaining runway was closed in March 2021, but several legal complaints are pending in courts. The city plans to use the land for the construction of approximately 25,000 new apartments starting in 2024. The airfield area, including the runways and taxiways, was opened for public recreation in February 2022.
