WUSB (90.1 FM) is a non-commercial radio station licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to Stony Brook, New York. The station is owned by the State University of New York, with studios located on the second floor of Stony Brook University's West Side Dining facility, and its transmitter is located in Farmingville, New York. WUSB is a free-form radio station, staffed by more than 150 volunteers who devote their time and energy for the love of music and free-form radio. The station is partially listener-supported.

Telescope Hill, at 334 feet (102 m), is the highest point of elevation in the Town of Brookhaven, on Long Island, New York, United States. The hill is located at the end of Tower Hill Ave., on the border of the ZIP codes of the hamlets of Selden and Farmingville, and west of Bald Hill. Notably, Telescope Hill was the site of a fire observation station operated by the New York State Conservation Commission and later the Conservation Department from 1918 to 1959.

Bald Hill Schoolhouse is a historic one-room school building located at Farmingville in Suffolk County, New York. It was built in 1850 and is a small, one story, vernacular rural schoolhouse with Greek Revival style detailing. It measures approximately 18 feet by 28 feet. It closed for classroom instruction in 1929. Also on the property are boy's and girl's privies, a small woodshed, and a house formerly owned by a member of the Terry family.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.The school is located in Farmingville Hills Park and is owned by the Farmingville Hills Historical Society, which plans to operate the schoolhouse as a museum.

The Long Island Shakespeare Festival, co-founded by Charles Townsend Wittreich Jr., is sponsored by Suffolk County Community College to provide Long Island residents and visitors quality professional theatre with emphasis on plays by William Shakespeare. In addition, it serves as a transition for student theatre artists and artisans from Long Island into the business of theatre. Former and current Long Island residents who have created careers in theatre return to the area to perform, direct or design. The Long Island Shakespeare Festival uses the production facilities of the Theatre Training Program at Suffolk Community College on Long Island, New York. The Festival, to foster the appreciation of Shakespearean theatre, makes each showing free of charge.

Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) is a public community college in Selden, New York. It is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and is funded in part by Suffolk County, New York. Suffolk County Community College was founded in 1959 and has three campuses: Selden, Brentwood and Riverhead. It also has two satellite centers in Sayville and downtown Riverhead. The school was founded largely through the efforts of Albert Ammerman who was the college's president from its founding in December 1959 until 1983. In its first year it had 13 faculty with 171 full-time students at the Sachem High School in Ronkonkoma and 335 part-time students at Riverhead High School until what is now called the Ammerman campus opened in 1962 in the former Suffolk County Tuberculosis Sanatorium (originally built in 1912). By 1977 it had opened a campus in Riverhead and one on the edge of the Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in Brentwood.

Bald Hill, located in the hamlet of Farmingville, New York, part of the Town of Brookhaven, is one of the highest areas of elevation on Long Island. The highest elevation in the Bald Hill area is 331 feet (101 m). Though local residents often claim it to be the highest point on Long Island, that honor actually belongs to Jayne's Hill in the Town of Huntington at 401 feet (122 m). Also, nearby Telescope Hill, about 0.8 miles (1.3 km) WSW, is slightly higher at 334 feet (102 m). Bald Hill in Brookhaven should also not be confused with Bald Hill in Riverhead.

The Islamic Association of Long Island (also known as the Selden Masjid) is a mosque at 10 Park Hill Drive in Selden, New York, eastern Long Island, 65 miles east of New York City. It was founded in 1974 and is the oldest chartered mosque on Long Island.

Holtsville was a station stop on the Greenport Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. It was located off the southeast corner of the Waverly Avenue grade crossing on the south side of the tracks between Long Island Avenue and Furrows Road in Holtsville, New York.
